The mounted combat looks rough.
Maybe scalebound wasn't gonna be that bad.
I think at this point it's fair to say they do nooooooot care about the LotR canon. UnfortunatelyDo you think the game will make it explicit that Talion and Celebrimbor are not good people, at least given the context of the ethics of Middle-Earth? I think if they go too far in treating them as 'baddasses' it kind of spoils the whole point of the LotR canon.
Isn't the premise here that Celebrimbor & Talion forge a new ring of power and use it to control armies of Orcs to fight the armies of Mordor? Somehow I don't think that's destined to end well.Do you think the game will make it explicit that Talion and Celebrimbor are not good people, at least given the context of the ethics of Middle-Earth? Wait. So its not open world anymore.. wow
Yup, I remember this as well, and even thinking it myself.Heard the same "scripted" comments about the last game during it's reveal, but Nemesis is the real deal.
First impressions, the graphics are not very impressive. Not a big deal but surprisingly poor and looks worse than Mordor in some respects
The main character is still OP as fuck. It seems like there's no more combo meter and you can always execute??? The fact that you are so OP makes everything else feel trivial. Oh you stormed the gates with your giant army but your army didn't really do shit, it was all you climbing over the wall and killing everyone. Would much prefer if your army would actually be a big part of the gameplay.
Nemesis system is pretty curious here, not much else to say beyond I wonder what it will really play out like, it seemed very scripted. They purport millions of different storylines but I wonder how different the variations will truly be. It would be damn cool if your inside man could turn coat in the middle of the mission and fuck things up for you. The more variety to these scenarios the better.
I'm hoping for the best but keeping my expectations in check.
The badassery given to the main character is so over the top that is laughable from one side and embarrassing from the other.
I don't know if can still enjoy using such kind of protagonist.
Let's see if the game mechanics are just gimmicks or they'll have an actual weight in the game.
The first one if I remember correctly falls apart with all its nemesis system in the late game.
Not to be a negative Nancy or anything but the boss fight mostly feels scripted. Like, not when he's killing the minions but it seemed like there was no control for most of that battle. I just don't feel it is legit gameplay. I hope I'm wrong but I have been much more skeptical of hype since One Man's Lie.
Games out in 5 months. It's not Alpha. It's done. Content complete. That said, if they follow the same philosophy as the first we'll have dozens if not hundreds of hours of footage by August. It's been 3 years since the first game, to build on an already impressive ai system.
I'd be more skeptical on if they've upped the open world parts, the story parts, and the end game.

Working within the constraints of the canon would simply not work for the kind of game it sets out to beI think at this point it's fair to say they do nooooooot care about the LotR canon. Unfortunately
Piss and moan about developers constantly and always prioritizing pretty resolutions and amazing textures over inventive game systems and AI. Game finally does the latter.
Piss and moan about that.
I think it's great that they're putting the bulk of the work into making sure the systems have depth.
Flamethrowers and dragons in Middle Earth?
OMG.
But the combat is the same and has zero depth.
Everything else they presented is fine though.
Given it's alpha, it's probably semi-scripted, but having played Shadow of Mordor recently, absolutely nothing in the trailer seemed particularly outlandish or unlikely to work. On the contrary, this all seemed very plausible.
I presume, given the comparison to No Man's Sky, you never played SoM? Not sure why you'd be so skeptical otherwise.
I have not played it and I am willing to be proven wrong. I will be incredibly happy if I am. It looked really cool but the boss fight, the dude helping with the arrow, etc, most of that seemed scripted or a QTE. Again, would love to be wrong.

Agreed. I'm glad they chose scale over graphics. A bit more color in the environments wouldn't hurt but the region showed was in Mordor so I wouldn't expect greenery.
And Monolith has heard the complaints about difficulty y'all. This demo pretty clearly had god mode on.
