Amiibo are strictly Nintendo, as far as I know.

I've never wanted a line of Amiibo so badly before. I need that Qurupeco and Barioth the most.

I would agree for first and 2nd party IP characters but I don't think the same can be said for things like Mega Man or Shovel Knight. To role out production of any character(s) they don't own, I'd like to think they'd have to get the go ahead from the company that does own them. I mean if Nintendo could reproduce Gold Megaman for the west, I'd like to think we'd see more of them going for MSRP and not scalper prices.

I read that Capcom and Nintendo weren't on the best of terms because of Monster Hunter. Can anyone shed some light on that?

I saw some of the Japanese MH Stories amiibo for sale used for like $15 when I was in Japan last October, not long after it released there. I should have bought them!

If they come out over here, I'll definitely get a few.

What do the amiibos do exactly? I plan on getting at least one or so, but I'd be nice to know which one would be best beyond looks.

I thought it looked good from some of the kind of reviewy/overview vids on youtube. I found this one pretty informative with some good footage: Click

I like Pokemon, Yokai Watch, Fantasy Life etc so travelling the world in a fairly light jrpg affair while collecting monsters is pretty up my alley. It'll make a nice kick off to September before Metroid drops

Is it possible they're leaving the functionality in but will not release the Amiibo in the West. So you can just import them yourselves?

Pre-order from the Nintendo Official UK Store and you'll receive an exclusive set of monsters to use in game, including heroes Rathalos (Ice), Lagiacrus (Fire), Brachydios (Lightning) and Qurupeco (Water). These Heroes are exclusive pre-order codes and cannot be found during normal gameplay.

Hopefully they aren't restricted to preorders.

These seem to be the same preorder DLC like in Japan.

Though there it was 14 retailers with a different preorder monster.

It would be AWESOME if NA got all that DLC as apart of the first print run. So far we only have the standard version as a preorder. Maybe something will change closer to release.
