Based on what we know of both GP100 and GP102 a GP100 GeForce would not be more powerful than a GP102 GeForce.Regarding the GP102 rumors, I'm not sure what to make of them.
In the Kepler generation there were four Big Kepler GK110 consumer cards, not counting the dual GPU Titan-Z
Those cards were:
-GTX Titan (February 2013)
-GTX 780 (April 2013)
-GTX 780 Ti (November 2013)
-GTX Titan Black (February 2014)
Assuming GP102 cards are coming sometime between fall 2016 and spring 2017, I don't think that means we won't eventually see more a powerful consumer GP100 card.
Anyone disagree?
Yeah agreed. GP100 doesn't make sense.
What you might get though is a GP102 with GDDR5X memory that's about 50% larger than GP104 (~480mm² as speculated here) coming 2017 and the ~600mm² HBM2 thing left for Volta 2019.
If we get a ~600mm² Geforce on 16nm finFET in 2017 I'll be pretty chuffed.
GP102 is 2016, Volta is 2017/2018.
At this point I don't expect a 600mm^2 gaming Pascal chip. I think we'll move from GP10x straight to GV10x.
