Wow so he says that they actually sold through over a million units!
Well done sony.
Impressive enough for sold-in #'s. but sold through would be CRAY! Seems like a lifetime since Sony referenced actual sell through to customers.

Why are people saying "well deserved", they shipped a million consoles on day one. That has no reflection on day one sell through.

So by the end of the year, it will beat Wii U's LTD?
Microsoft's RRoD fiasco says otherwise. But we shall see. They need to get an idea of how widespread the issues are first. But hopefully they aren't huge in number and the issues can be rectified quickly.
1 million in US alone? Wow, good signs for next gen!
shu confirms!:
bu bu but the crazies on GAF told me the WiiU's failure was a sign of things to come...So thats like what, a quarter of the wii u lifetime sales already? lol.

If the dont decisively deal with broken consoles issue fast, their momentum can be slowed massively. The PS4 is riding a wave of good press, good marketing and a good price. But a vocal word of mouth can throw all that away.
Enjoy you new console Gaf. Lots of great stuff coming your way
I'm responsible for two of those. I feel important now.
Assuming that all those PS4 have been switched on, it's 0.5% failure rate . I have a hard time believing there are so few defective units.
But if confirmed, it's a great success

Hmm, not sure if Yoshida has mispoken, as I don't see the PS4 having sold through 1M units at launch. That would be astounding.
Well on it's way to meeting that fiscal year target though.
so if 5000 is faulty thats not too bad?
Not trying to start a war, but do we know how much Wii U sold in NA day 1?
Why the hell does this launch seem so muted from a media buzz perspective? Sony/PS4 is popping off right now.
I'm going with yes and yes in answer to your questions.
No way MS don't hit 1 million day 1 world wide. The question is how many they have in the US.
For PS4 in Europe I'm going to guess at around 250k just for the UK (PS3 did 160k) and about 100-150k for Germany, France, Italy, maybe 70-100k for Spain. All numbers from my ass but taking into account the PS3 numbers.

Now yosp said it's not shipped but sell-through!
I'm wondering how he got that number, though.
Sorry, poor sentence structure.Where don't you see it?
Wow, that is absolutely a shitload of consoles. Impressive start. I am really curious as to what the European numbers will be. And what they would have been if the console had been available anywhere.

You realise PS4 is basically sold out everywhere?
Adam Boyes @amboyes said:And an extra special thanks to Antonio. We couldn't have done it without him right @yosp?
Agreed. These shipments should find homes due to launch excitement, but there are several obvious problems with the console, the OS and the controller, and I think the lack of any BC whatsoever particularly is going to come as a nasty surprise for many.
