3) Target has the Playstation Vita with a game pack in for
$209 right now. $60 more than just the Wii game pad for comparable hardware as the entire Wii U guts, an OLED screen, and a game. What is going on?
This is definitely a reason I'd say the gamepad was the wrong direction to go. For the functionality it provides, the cost is way too high.
Another is that Nintendo placed all bets on the gamepad without thinking of how many games are going to actually utilize it. The only notable games I can think of are Nintendo Land and Zombi U. In my experience so far, using it has been a redundant hassle. That is why I wish the gamepad would become a backseat focus of the console. Developers that actually have a vision for it can make something great, and other developers won't feel pressured to implement some cheap gimmick. Nintendo can cut down on production of the device and save money, then the price should be able to go down(?).
I'm not saying this is a perfect solution by any means, it's just what I'd like to see.
Edit: Also, sorry for a bit of off topic, but I think I missed that thread about not selling the gamepad in a basic set or something, so I wanted to get that off my chest.
