Rumor: Mass Effect 4 details leak through survey

Sounds really good if true, however that would mean we probably wouldn't even see the Citadel, and honestly I can't imagine a ME game without that location.

What if I told you there was a secret Cerberus citadel, a Cerberal (Citarus?) if you will, in the center of Andromeda, and the end-game mission is choosing whether to blow it up, eat it, or releasing a population bomb that makes every female resident pregnant with your seed?

Can we ditch the "saviour of humanity" and "powerful lost civilisation" bullshit? Please...I can't handle it anymore.

Are there colors to help me choose?

Could this game descend to new depths of microtransaction depravity and lock romances behind a paywall?

You've finally wooed that Quarian cutie down in Engineering and suddenly...date night on the Citadel will be 300 BioWare Points. And no they never go on sale.

Some of that stuff doesn't really do anything for me but I'm still excited about a new mass effect and I'm especially excited about multiplayer.

  • Mass Effect 4 will expand upon BioWare's iconic romance arcs beloved by fans, for the first time allowing players to romance an entire galaxy.

We both know this one idea exactly as is would literally make them a fortune.

Sounds good, as long as they give us an extensive nostalgia porn segment where we get to explore old locales from the ME trilogy.

I can't wait to accidentally the whole galaxy. I'm gonna seed so many planets with life.

Your character, Shepard-T'Soni IV, is presented with 3 slightly different shades of carpet samples for the floor of the Normandy's Tempest's new disco suite.

The choice of carpet shade has a huge impact on the success of Only Suicide For Your Squadmates Mission 2.

Mass Effect is my favorite series ever, and this sounds like more of what I love about it, so sign me up. Not all perfect, but sounds like a lot more good than bad. Hoping it's a 2016 release.

Oh and of course, everything costs Bioware points.

That sweet new gun, access to Earth 2.0, the Cerberus Citadel suicide mission, Quarian cosplay costume, Hello Kitty Tempest paint job, romanceable Geth slave...

I fucking need this game so bad.

This made me laugh hard.

Fuckin' Cerberus man. You know they're gonna be there. Andromeda is like, their main galaxy. Every one of the 100's of explorable worlds will have an extensive Cerberus underground base which needs to be fought through and destroyed to claim the planet.

Then you have to Skype the Illusive Man's son for 20 minutes and explain how you don't agree with his methods but you're going to do everything he says anyway.

Oh fuck I had completely forgotten about Ceberus I hope to god those trilogy destroying fucks are nowhere near this game.

Lol, can there be a choice to romance the Citarus Station?

The Citarus is actually an advanced AI which has been controlling Cerberus, the Reapers, and the fate of the universe as we know it for eons.

So yes.

If you're again locked to fucking humans, yet all the other races are appearing, I'd guess the context of the plot is that:

Access to Andromeda galaxy discovered. Each species/empire in the Milky Way develops their own outer-galaxy colony program (hence the appearance of Krogans). The Alliance has the Pathfinder Initiative, which you're leading. Everybody arrives. It's essential the Wild West of Mass Effect, everyone vying for land, while also conflicting with the species already calling the galaxy home. Remnant artefacts turn out to be Reapers. Suddenly Cerberus is there for some reason. Everything is shit.
I could totally get into this. Am I part of the problem?

At this point, they should just reboot the ME series.

Why even bother with ME4? Just start over.

It basically is a reboot though, from what I can gather, just without being one specifically. It's set in a new galaxy, distant "time and space" from the entire Shepard arc. It has familiar components in species and probably tech, but is otherwise completely new (bog standard BioWare narrative tropes aside). Even if their excuses as to how everyone got to Andromeda or how they reconcile lingering elements of the trilogy are questionable, it seems like they're going for as much of a clean slate as they possibly can.

Is this even going to be numbered? I thought they were basically starting over, but in a different area of the galaxy.

Unless plans changed it's not numbered precisely to avoid correlation with an existing ongoing story arc (aka: the Shepard trilogy), despite essentially being "the fourth Mass Effect" with assumptions that the fifth and sixth (should they exist) would be a continuation of this.

I'm interested in how they're going to shove Cerberus into the storyline. I'll laugh my ass off if they're somehow the big bad... again.

My hype deflates and I'll tell you why. I really had insane expectation for Mass Effect 4. I thought it could be one of the gen-defining experiences for me as ME 1 and 2 were last gen. As it stands, it looks like it's playing it very safe, the story seems derivative and they're borrowing gameplay elements from other series and games.
Storywise, nothing intrigues me. Now I don't really give a damn about uncovering the remnants or whatever. I've done that. All it's doing is telling me these guys can't come up with their own groundbreaking, original ideas, like Mass Effect 1 did.
Ooh, a new cosmic threat that could wipe out humanity? Wow, the stakes sure are high. I'm so exc-wait no, I'm not. We've had all this already with the Reapers.

The more I think about it, the more I get mad at myself for ever thinking this could be anything excellent. It's probably gonna be another decent AAA shooter with cool graphics that does nothing revolutionary, and I'll probably play it and enjoy it.

My wild dreams got the better of me again.

oh yeah I forgot they got that Halo 4 dude to be the leader writer of this game.

The whole "escaping into another galaxy" and "powerful ancient civilization" don't surprise then. Absolutely no creativity at all.

I want to be excited about a new sci-fi game, but I should just expect a dumb cinematic watered down rpg shooter with Ubisoft open world game design, terrible writing, and player fellatio.

They got... they... uh... hm.

Okay. Sure. What could possibly go wrong?

I must admit I like the sound of this, been counting down the days till this is unveiled along with Fallout 4. The survey leaks seem good to me obviously I have very high expectations so let's hope I'm not disappointed. I want loads of exploring new planets, hopefully with tons of variety and scenery and loads of mysterious secrets to be uncovered.

Really, all I wanted was a new ancient mysterious alien race that left shit behind them. I love that shit way, way too much.

Sounds fucking awesome

... until the sequel when they'll inevitably reintroduce "beloved" characters and market the hell out of Garrus/Liara/Tali returning by "popular demand."

On the one hand I'm extremely hyped for how the exploration stuff sounds in theory which seems to be a big focus again. On the other hand I'm a little afraid that those things could be interpreted in a similar way to how "exploration", gaining resources and setting up camps/outposts was done in DA:I. And yes, I'm familiar with that BW quote about how ME is not going to be just like DA.I just because it was successful.
Still, they could go the easy route which could and up extremely disappointing.

Doesn't seem to take big strides from the usual ME/Bioware formula, but reading all that makes me really crave a new Mass Effect...

I think the new galaxy thing was talked about before the new writer came along, but the whole ancient alien civilization, especially the name of it sounds so generic. The most generic thing I ever heard. It possible it isn't final, I hope.
