What do you mean by "PS5 SSD magic"?Like "power of the cloud" and "PS5 SSD magic"?
What do you mean by "PS5 SSD magic"?Like "power of the cloud" and "PS5 SSD magic"?
Sony was heavily implying that load times and gameplay experiences would be impossible without the power of PS5 SSD. The game used the most to showcase that was Ratchet & Clank that launched on PC….without requiring an SSD drive at all, let alone a special one. What do you mean by "PS5 SSD magic"?
It's terrible when you consider this good PR lolWell fuck me, Microsoft, you gone done a goodie.
Now just drop the whole stupid ass Series S thing completely, and make me glad I bought a Series X again.
….start with letting Starfield have 60fps on X.
I don't think they said it would be impossible.Sony was heavily implying that load times and gameplay experiences would be impossible without the power of PS5 SSD. The game used the most to showcase that was Ratchet & Clank that launched on PC….without requiring an SSD drive at all, let alone a special one.
I watched some DF videos and they're pretty adamant the game would not be possible on the PS4.Sony was heavily implying that load times and gameplay experiences would be impossible without the power of PS5 SSD. The game used the most to showcase that was Ratchet & Clank that launched on PC….without requiring an SSD drive at all, let alone a special one.

Parity clause change aka "Series S owners get fucked".
Wait, is starfield supporting cross save with Steam?
It has been officially confirmed that Starfield will feature full cross-progression support across all available platforms. This means you can seamlessly transfer your progress between Xbox Series X/S, Windows Store, Steam, Xbox Games Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. No matter where and how you play, you can always continue your adventure right where you left off on any platform where the game is available.
Both terrible af, for comparision from official data provided by both sony and ms, playstation 5 outsold series x/s almost 2:1 by now, worldwide, so if u compare more expensive ps5 vs much cheaper xss its over 2:1 difference, and its getting worse and worse, meaning even casual customers realised how bad of a deal series s is, vs ps5.
Now going forward u will have ps5 slim, dunno if cheaper or maybe at 400$ vs 1tb xss at 350$, u dont need to be hardward graduate or rocket science physicist to predict the bloodbath thats gonna happen next few years.
The series S is a POS in 2023 and beyond. Glad MS is finally recognizing their mistake in trying to disrupt the industry. Gamescom Q&As, social media trends and dev rumblings worked when you're not the market leader but want to still carry the hubris. Humbling, this.More like your post should exist since it has no merit. Honestly mods should probably just ban everyone who runs into a series S thread to say this, since it's meaningless at this point. It exists, people like it, they sell games for it, it's going to be sold for years to come. It's time to move on.
I don't think they said it would be impossible.
Also Ranchet and clank load times are dreadful between rifts without an ssd.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a game that utilizes dimensions and dimensional rifts, and that would not have been possible without the solid-state drive of the PlayStation 5.
Don't worry, the sales splits will still have you thinking it's an "exclusive."The game was supposed to be a PS5 exclusive and this Phil guy just had to come in and mess it all up for all of us
Per DF, HDD R&C runs abysmal with lowest possible targets and long load times that sucks all the magic. Pregnancy test can run DOOM too, but is it playable?Sony was heavily implying that load times and gameplay experiences would be impossible without the power of PS5 SSD. They kinda did
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart creative director discusses PS5 advantages

No, that quote is taken out of context by damn near everyone, even me for a while. In the video, right before that quote he clearly says "this is something we never could have done on previous generations". So no....he wasn't saying this could never be done by any other tech than PS5 ever. Prior generations didn't have any of this tech and that's what he was talking about.
The number of objects in the world and the things to explore, the enemies around, the effects, everything is more, more, more. This is what we’re trying to do is build worlds that feel real and are bringing you in. You’re exploring these brand new spaces. And this is something that we never could have done on previous generations.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a game that utilizes dimensions and dimensional rifts, and that would not have been possible without the solid-state drive of the PlayStation 5. The SSD is screamingly fast. It allows us to build worlds and project players from one place to another in near instantaneous speeds. It is an unbelievable game changer in terms of, we can now do gameplay where you’re in one world, and the next moment you’re in another.
This is all MS fault bro. Trying to be clever and cute by releasing a bottom tier console to beat sony on price thinking it would win them the gen. Instead of focusing on what their customers actually wanted.Sure, let's just shit on all the people that bought Series S because they were promised "like XSX, just 1080p". Also it might shock you - some people have only one console, and it's Series S.
I'm not sure its quite out of context. This is the entire segment.
The "We couldn't do it in previous generations" is about the amount of enemies, effects etc that the previous gen wouldn't be able to do, at least that's what it reads like to me.
SonyToo!Pretend Phil Spencer is saying it and then it will become clear.
Oh, it will open a can of worms alright. You'd be pretty naive to believe otherwise. This sounds like a one-off exception that Phil personally approved.
Fixing his own mistakes.
Actions have consequences, MS fucked themselfs/their console many times over so ofc instead of praising MAUs ppl check sales, as any1 sane should, somehow nintendo got no problems with sales of their very weak/outdated handheld tech based switch, but for that u gotta have top quality of exclusives instead of gamepass, its a trade off, one company banked on gamepass, other one banked on top quality exclusives as it was always proven strategy that worked wellYour missing the point completely, if there was no series S, ms sales of series consoles would be even worse, like 3:1 or even 4:1 to ps5.
Last gen, Xbox released like 4 different Xbox one models. If they can do a Series X all digital and get the price to like $350, I can see this replacing the Series S.That's quite a leap there.
You think MS is going to deny other exceptions after this very public change? It's not good business to give special privileges to certain developers over others.Where does it say the parity clause has been changed? This sounds like a one-off exception that Phil personally approved. Due to all the bad press about the BG3 delay on Xbox.
I’m not seeing any mention anywhere at all on the actual parity clause changing, for all Series developers. Do you have a source?
We all called bullshit from day one. But the brand defense ran rampant in the ever shifting narratives. Remember when they removed the 1440p from marketing very quickly as well. Never forget.
I'd rather they admit it and fix the situation moving forward than to just ignore it or pretend the issue doesn't exist. The biggest admission the series s is a huge fuck up.
Shills: Thanks uncle phil. Slurp slurp slurp.
I don't think it's a POS even in 2023 if it was priced right. XSS at $200-250 is a great device that can be main streaming box, play whole Xbox library, stream games form the cloud, etc... Couple that with Game pass and it's a great kids gaming device. The series S is a POS in 2023 and beyond. Glad MS is finally recognizing their mistake in trying to disrupt the industry. Gamescom Q&As, social media trends and dev rumblings worked when you're not the market leader but want to still carry the hubris. Humbling, this.
They could deny but man, that would be a total PR fiasco. You think MS is going to deny other exceptions after this very public change? It's not good business to give special privileges to certain developers over others.
This is bad news, I don't understand how it can be good news for the brand. It might be good news for you, but as a brand this is basically burying it deeper in poop.I'd rather they admit it and fix the situation moving forward than to just ignore it or pretend the issue doesn't exist.
This is great news and one step closer to the Series X living up to its full potential.
You think MS is going to deny other exceptions after this very public change? It's not good business to give special privileges to certain developers over others.
Great news. I doubt there are too many that will care, and if they make it work then they can patch it in later (I wonder if this is what happened with Halo Infinite?)
Btw, I see crossprogression, but is it crossplay?
Last gen, Xbox released like 4 different Xbox one models. If they can do a Series X all digital and get the price to like $350, I can see this replacing the Series S.
The series s only exist because it’s cheap, if they can make another cheap alternative I think they will replace it.
Hey man, just trying to stay modern with the high drama thread titles. I need them clicks and likes to feel good. That’s fine. My point is more that the thread title specifically says the parity clause has been changed. And I’m saying all we know about what is what Larian said about one game after one meeting. We don’t actually have any official communication or comment from Msoft that the clause has been altered.
I think it means your save / profile will carry over between devices, so you can use the same character and progression on PC and Xbox.
They've been doing that for years on the Switch. The beginning of Series S downfall.
Developers will be allowed to cut more and more features by threatening to not release the game on Xbox at all.
Hey man, just trying to stay modern with the high drama thread titles. I need them clicks and likes to feel good.
Considering none of us have actually seen the parity clause document and have gone off of developer information and opinions anyway, I'm not sure what's misleading here. They made an exception for Larian which means their policy has changed. There are no public one-offs.Super lame and misleading. But ok I guess! I don’t make the rules around here
Of course, but making a cheap alternative is very difficult, which is exactly why we have the xss where compromises had to be made to meet that price point.
A digital xsx would probably be $50-60 dollars cheaper?
