Its not like the XSS wasnt sold at a loss too tho. The pressure is equally there for both.The pressure for the PS5DE to stay at $399 is a lot higher than the pressure for the Series S to stay at $299. As soon as they can consistently meet demand at $299 it will drop in price.
I wouldnt be surprised if both consoles prices are close to their bill of materials cost. All we have is estimates about the PS5 at $450. If thats with the disc drive, minus about $20 for that and its looking like $430.
The XSS had to cost over $300 to make. Ppl thinking it didnt are dreaming.
With the way the PS5 is selling there is no need for Sony to feel pressure about cutting the price. Same scenario like the PS4. Just like the Switch.
All the pressure is on MS. Same situation like last gen.
Regardless what some, many think selling lots of consoles has its benefits. One of those benefits is no need to cut the price.
