Okay, now I really "got" the controls. Feels amazing now.
My best advice for those struggling with the play controls, just keep playing around in the first world and practice, practice, practice! Took me a little bit to get used to but now I'm doing much better controlling Noodles.
Has Sumo mentioned anything about Switch sales numbers or is that something only Nintendo will release? I hope it's doing well for them. Successful indie games on the Switch are important for us as owners, along with *well done* third party entries.
There's at least one SUMO dev on GAF. I guess they might make it along here at some point?Wish a dev was here on GAF.
Nah, I don't have the patience for this. Grip doesn't help and the snake (head) is often doing the exact opposite what I wanna do. It's a very frustrating experience. I feel like wasting my time with this (actually great) game.
...
That's the problem. I'm not. I don't even know how this works. I'm always failing immediately (yes, even with grip).
Omg I did it!!!
This is not a calming game, no it's not, lol.
The users who helped me were right. You have to use the grip-button. You can even slowly move forward while using grip so it's actually easier than it seems to be.
Really great to read your progression! Congrats.Okay, now I really "got" the controls. Feels amazing now.
If you're OK with them being different, and requiring learning, then they're good.I'm on the fence.... 20 is a no brainer price... How are the controls really on switch?
I don't think this game is for me. It's more frustrating than relaxing. Too much fiddling that makes me crave for a Mario game, a platformer where you have better control of your character.
Haha sorry to laugh but that face is just a perfect "Fuck it I'm stuck" face.
Missed one blue orb in the 6th level. I have no idea where it is and it's the first one I'm missing. Guess I'll have to move on to level 7 for now. Besides the sometimes jerky camera, this is a real treat to play!
PS4 version is target 60fps but not consistent. Pro has a better framerate.
Loving this so far. Quick question that might be spoilerish:
Does anyone know what the tiki-style evil looking statues do? I just completed the first world, and upon hitting the statues I've heard a noise for each level. When I completed the levels, one of them popped up and gave me something, a spinning token? I missed the beginning of the cutscene and don't see anything in my menus.
They either just get you an achievement or they unlock the second spoiler below since I can't remember exactly when I unlocked it.
Thanks! One follow up question:
Do they show up when you bump into all of the statues in a world? Because I didn't get all of the coins in the first world, I was missing one at the time.
Well this game gets frustrating fast. I'm at level 4 and I'm struggling to get anywhere near the the yellow jewel. Guess I'll be going back to Zelda for now.
Just tried the game on PS4 Pro and kept getting random hitches in the first couple levels. I'm on a 1080p display. Anybody else having this problem?
Do you have it set to the correct one on the video setting in snake pass options? I assume you cant change it but just in case.
I'm using a 4k tv and had the hitches problem, i'm in 1080p mode for thisg ame for the 60fps.
I could tell that from the second level tbhI just got done with the first world, and I can already tell that the blue orbs are going to be put into more asshole locations.
Having really big problems with the controls. The button layout and responsiveness is alright, but I am struggling to get over the fact that all stick movement is relative to the camera. I'm constantly catching myself using it as if I was controlling from the snake's point of view (tank control style).
Yep, this is my biggest issue with the game. If you have an accelerate button, surely movement should be relative to your current direction...
I think the devs have made a point of mentioning this is more puzzle game than platformer, it does however have the look of a platformer
I think its tacky to go "the devs are wrong" and obviously you cant jump which disqualifies it from a lot of peoples definition of platformer, but imo its more than just the look. I dont really feel like im solving puzzles in this game and its got a lot of the same design sensiblities as a platformer despite featuring a different moveset. Id much sooner recommend this to a person who liked Crash or Banjo than I would someone who liked third person puzzlers like Ico or Rain.
Its at the very least platformer-adjacent even if it doesnt quite fit most peoples definition of a game where you jump on stuff.
Geez the rumble is way too strong on switch. Hands are numb. Have to take a break.
It's weird to me the head movement is tied to the camera axis. I would have made it oriented to the snake. Maybe it would get to crazy when you really get twisted up.
just replayed that level to find the orb i missed because I did the same so maybe its the same one i missed. theres somereally easy to miss one in the water tunnel with the pillars midway through the level. One is on the bottom hidden by the various pillars and the other is on a ledge thats easy to miss if youre not swimming on the surface. I totally missed the second one my first time through but I think someone who found it first might do the opposite and miss the other one
I noticed that earlier when I was trying to play at work where I didn't have the Wi-Fi connected.Have the devs commented on the internet connectivity bug on switch? I tweeted at them but didn't get a response.
Man, I suck at this game... How do I reach the yellow key stone in stage 2-1? It's way up high, and I don't see anything I can slither up/around to reach it.
Posted in the other thread, but one of the devs on twitter is saying the blur/resolution could be a bug because it's not that way on their systems.

May be nothing, but figured I'd share.
If this gets patched I will probably buy the game. There's just no way I'm spending any money for a blurry game in handheld mode. Unforgivable to me as I play almost exclusively in handheld mode.Posted in the other thread, but one of the devs on twitter is saying the blur/resolution could be a bug because it's not that way on their systems.

Plus, to be frank, a lot of devs don't even see/understand tech stuff like framerste, resolution, IQ etc past the very obvious stuff.Considering it seems sub res on everything, I'm not holding my breath.
Would be nice if it was fixed though!

Eh that is not a developer that's a sales guy.
It doesn't really matter all that much. Between him and the official twitter guy, it said they were looking at it. I don't see why he'd bother commenting if he wasn't in the know. Just shared the tweets though, could very well be nothing.
PC to Vita (moonlight+henkaku). Using R trigger to move forward and L trigger to grip.
The game rules btw. Really challenging but fun snake platforming with nice atmosphere. Great price on steam £16.
With the latency there, I just don't know how anyone plays anything remote play beyond turn-based strategy titles.
The game on vita?
