Sounds like Killzone Mercenary, which was perfect. You can switch between gyro and analog. In my experience at Gamescom it works perfectly when combined, analog for big and/or fast turns and gyro for precision. It works specifically well with this as you shoot paint, it really helps the immersion.

I was thinking about Uncharted Vita: did you tried it?
Gyro aim is optional.
But try it, it's really great. Or get your ass kicked.
I'll be honest, the gyro stuff is the only thing about this game that has given me pause. I have literally never once in my entire gaming career enjoyed gyro aiming or anything like that and found it almost always inferior to alternative methods of control. Here's hoping they nail it this time...
...because this is one of my most anticipated games. I love everything else I see about it.
Can't wait for analog users to call gyro users cheaters when they get their asses handed to them.
Yup.

Don't worry, we'll slaughter you on our way to the ink bank and laugh as you wonder aloud how you could be beat by your analog brethren.
Thank goodness it's optional. Nintendo yous my bros
I kinda like gyro, but yeah. I'm still really glad it's optional, and can be combined with analog. Best option will always be analog for looking around (large scale) with gyro for fine tuning. But either way, it's never fun when control gimmicks are forced on you. I end up disappointed every time a 3DS or Vita game makes me touch the screen when I could easily use buttons.Don't worry, we'll slaughter you on our way to the ink bank and laugh as you wonder aloud how you could be beat by your analog brethren.

hahah I love it
"can play with analog sticks by themseves but good luck at playing competitively"
(Admittedly I haven't tried it, but I can't imagine rotating/orienting the gamepad with both hands is as comfortable as just tiny wrist movements with one hand for pointer aiming.)

Do you know how the Gamepad is locked with a heavy cable for the demo station? You don't feel it when you play Splatoon with gyro, that's how easy and swift it is done. Just from the wrist.
Understood. But it's still more "work" than one hand with the Wii remote. If you're implying I have to stand up and flail my arm around to use the Wii remote like in that picture, that's obviously off base.
I sit very comfortably with my forearm resting on my thigh, and it takes almost no effort. It's 95% (or higher) as comfortable as my posture while using dual analog.

Edit: GYRO AIM IS OPTIONAL? HURRAY! *does a jig*

One thing that I'm loving about this game are the clothes. Just look at this girl! So stylish.

Use gyro to aim

It looks like they didn't listen to anyone at E3. Everyone hated it.[/QUOTE]
What are you talking about?
Everyone seemed to like it or atleast willing to use it.
The Uncharted game on Vita did this and it worked surprisingly well. I've always wanted to try more games that used analog+gyro

It's almost like...you didn't read the thread at all?
I'm seeing black and white inklings with different style clothes.
Is there customization for your character (skin color, hair, clothes) or is that randomized when playing?
SS trolls all the time. Let it be.

Will be interesting to play it with pro controller. The gamepad is superuseful for teleporting back to the action, but can always set the thing up on a stand and use your toes.
It shouldn't even be available at all, and knowing Nintendo, they're pretty stubborn when it comes to game design.
Oh god, checked post history. One for the list then!

They need to add Wii remote controls. IR aiming is better than gyro and the split controller setup is far more comfortable than the bulky gamepad. Wiimote & Nunchuk controls would be simple to implement:
Z - Squid (dive into ink, restores ink)
Nunchuk joystick - move
C - Bomb (uses 70% of your ink)
B - Ink Shot (uses up ink)
D-pad left/right - looks left/right
A - Jump
D-pad down - Camera Reset
Press or hold minus to overlay map, point at the Squid Icon to make a big jump to one of your team mates.
Use pointer to aim
But why is there a solitary cat in this world of squid....? This mystery is yet to be solved.

Yeah. Taking away features that some people may want is always a great idea.
No, the people that played after me complained about it, the guys I played with complained about it, I complained about it. The Nintendo booth dude says "we've heard this feedback from everyone and the devs know about it."
People hated it. It literally makes it an ultra clunky TPS.
