I love how some people think an acceptable solution is just "buy more shit for it". How lame.
Sunshine is one of the best 3D Mario games.Do people really want to play Sunshine again?
I'm really sad and surprised Analog buttons in general never became the standard. I didn't realize PS4 dropped it with the DS4 after having it on the DS2 and DS3 controllers.
I guess there just wasn't enough use for pressure sensitive buttons outside the triggers.
You didn't actually answer the question.
That's not what I've been hearing, so where did you get this from?Pro Controller is analogue. Joy Con are not pure digital, might be different kind of analogue. Would not take this as confirmed in any way right now. It's apparently hard to tell on the JoyCon but obvious analogue on Pro.
I doubt this thing can emulate gamecube games.
Dunno how they keep getting away with no analog triggers.
Absolutely ridiculous considering one of their top exclusives is a racing game.
I doubt this thing can emulate gamecube games.
This is a non starter. No developer would do this to the player.You would need six buttons at minimum to allow games that used the analogue triggers to work but the Switch controllers have enough.
L1 = light press
L2 = full press
L3 = digital click
Duplicate that for the right analogue and move the Z button to the plus or minus button ( whatever one is the select button )
Not perfect but most games should work fine.
Maybe there is no GCN VC?
Some of the other rumours were wrong after all.
It seriously would've been easier for them to get their heads out of their butts and just put analog triggers on the thing. Weren't they the first console maker to have analog triggers? What are they thinking here.....
I'm starting to wonder if the Switch could emulate GC now that we have seen how games like Zelda run.
Without the actual chipset it might be a no-go.
As said previously in the thread, the Shield can run many GCN games via Dolphin at 1080p/60FPS. And that's with a fan emulator not optimized for the platform with a targeted resolution/performance that Nintendo would almost certainly undershoot. It's definitely doable.I'm starting to wonder if the Switch could emulate GC now that we have seen how games like Zelda run.
Without the actual chipset it might be a no-go.
It doesn't.If the pro controller has analogue triggers (which it apparently does) then I don't know why it wouldn't be the same for the Joy Cons...
Oh wait, yes I do; Nintendo
It doesn't.
what other acceptable solutions are there? the hardware is pretty much set in stone and shipping in 6 weeks. Complaining without offering a solution is just wasted effort.I love how some people think an acceptable solution is just "buy more shit for it". How lame.
Nintendo will be forced into a control scheme like that if they plan on selling Gamecube games on a system with no analogue triggers in controllers.This is a non starter. No developer would do this to the player.
They will just drop it, like the MGS HD Collection for PS3.Nintendo will be forced into a control scheme like that if they plan on selling Gamecube games on a system with no analogue triggers in controllers.
That's a bit hostile.Such a useless company. The weird decisions they continue to make are baffling.
I doubt this thing can emulate gamecube games.
No they wouldn't, because GameCube controllers and the adapter exist. And the option to release more accessories.Nintendo will be forced into a control scheme like that if they plan on selling Gamecube games on a system with no analogue triggers in controllers.
What does that even mean? This comparison makes no sense at all. And I say this as a person who thinks both stances made little sense.The people who say no GCN VC because of this are the same people who said Splatoon was impossible without a second screen becaude of the jump to teammate thing
Can't be played in dock mode then.Maybe emulated buttons on screen
It would also be just awful.Can't be played in dock mode then.
They will just drop it, like the MGS HD Collection for PS3.
Also, don't rule out the possibility of new Joy-Con
Let's just hope they make more than 3 per store.
Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, and Melee all did.What games made use of them and in what way? I honestly don't remember, always remember the triggers clicking, although it had a bit more to push down before clicking.
GCN VC will simply not use analogue triggers where it can get away with it.
I'm starting to wonder if the Switch could emulate GC now that we have seen how games like Zelda run.
Without the actual chipset it might be a no-go.
It means that the game will be made to work without the legacy controls, to the best of what it possible.What does that even mean? This comparison makes no sense at all. And I say this as a person who thinks both stances made little sense.
New accessories, new Grip!Could those fit in the grip though? I'm sure a lot us want to play GCN games on the TV.
It would be a really cool VC feature where you could buy optional new joy con attachments that simulate the controls of the source console and when you slide them on to the switch the system detects them and immediately brings up a list of the supported software
There's a difference between making a sequel work with a new control scheme (since, you know, you can just change the game) and doing the same with an untouched emulated title, where you're talking about nonsense like mapping the GCN triggers to 6 different buttons.It means that the game will be made to work without the legacy controls, to the best of what it possible.
You're right, my mistake. I just remember that it was dropped on one.PS3 version does still have analog face button controls. It was the 360 version that dropped them.
Could those fit in the grip though? I'm sure a lot us want to play GCN games on the TV.
There's the GameCube adapter for on TV play, but I don't see why not.
