Jk, here are 3 simple versions:

They're kinda temporary (i made them in class after all =P). After I see the final thing, and after the thread title is defined, I'll working on something more interesting. I'll try some other things tonight, see what comes up. I had a more elaborate ideia but it ended up too similar to the LearnJapanese subreddit.

While i completely disagree with pretty much everything you guys said, I immensely appreciate the feedback and will make some appropriate changes. The big thing is I plan to update the thread quite frequently so if you guys want changes, its easily done. I don't really have any personal claim to it, would rather it be a group project.

But I really dislike the link compendium layout. I dont need to be the 900th guide that links shit like Tae Kim. Also zero interest in rehashing shit like hiragana. I'll link to outside sources that do a better job of explaining that. This is a community thread, not a wiki or tutorial. Does that make sense?
Wait, I thought the whole point of making a new thread was that the OP in this one was just a poorly organised info dump that was bad for beginners.

I dunno, we don't have to have a lot of links but there sure are a lot of shitty websites and methods if you just google "learn japanese". Some kind of direction is kind of important for beginners.

日本語|OT| Are えい and ええ pronounced differently? Who the fuck knows

The more i look at my banners, the more they suck.
It's really hard to 1. avoid cliches and 2. do something that work on both the light and dark theme.

Getting some more ideias, will try to make them better.

Yes to the bolded

日本語 |OT| 鬱: From WTF to Your Favorite Kanji

Thick-Cut Jason ruined that kanji for me.

As much as I like the look of "日本語 |OT| ", we probably want people who haven't started studying yet to be able to search for it.

Japanese Language |OT| Show your waifu how much you love her
Japanese Language |OT| Think it's too hard? 思う again!

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
Sorry guys, little caught up at work. If I genuinely can't make any major edits by cob today I'll just post it to get things rolling and update as we go.

Alright fuck it I'm going to post the thread, I'll link here in a second. A lot of it will say TO BE UPDATED SOON so I apologize for that. I just need to scrub this old thread for peoples' posts. The one by Marimo definitely is the type I want.

Here's the post. I'll be busy all day so PM me feedback if this thread gets locked so the first posts over there aren't all about the thread. I will make changes to the layout/content with whatever you guys want.

what I eventually want are pictures for the FAQ question titles rather than the underlined text.

Please

OK, that's probably about all the stuff I thought was worth sifting out, and it starts from post 8200-ish because that's where i think everything was most useful from the thread.

use each post/mark as a checkpoint, obviously if you scroll past those posts you'll see more discussion. may be worth someone else doing another run through those pages in case they find something else potentially useful.
