I don't know why you're mentioning the specific poster but yes, Slayven was a bully and was good buddies with besada who, as it has been proven, was actively trying to find reasons to ban people he disagreed with:

Together they formed the ultimate ban baiting team, the first step was being rude to others who disagreed, people responded and they were promptly banned, everyone could see that. The same happened with many other posters.
Well with the other site up now, I'm interested to see which one comes out on top. I'll be bouncing back and forth between the two most likely.

No, reality. I've seen dozens of posters getting banned that way.
You still saw who the mods are and can put their posts to their actions. Modbot was primarily used for locking topics.
If a mod starts getting Bishop levels unhinged, how do we as users know the difference?

The URL is already banned? Have they even done anything to warrant getting censored? Just strikes me as extremely petty imo. Not like people can't easily find it with a simple Google search either.

That and the 10 minute wait between PMs made it pretty clear that the priority isn't on salvaging a community here, it's on salvaging some semblance of a revenue stream.

Why are some asking for invites to the recently established gaf alternative? I just registered w/o an invite with a Gmail account no problem. The verification email went to spam folder. That's the only issue I had registering.
Don't want people jumping ship, pretty obvious after everything that has happened he doesn't care about the community.
It was only open because of a technical error apparently, for about 10 minutes. Its closed now though.

This way of thinking is best, frankly. These things take time, and you might find that you're not getting the experience you want from one thing that you are in the other. There's nothing wrong with having multiple outlets for multiple reasons.
Emotions are high right now, but these knee-jerk reactionary account suicide posts/threads we keep seeing make the people come across as petulant brats who I'm quite glad to see the back of.
Yup, this dude Mahadev made like 1 post a week for the 10 years he's been here, but since the shitshow and the forum coming back, he's been the most active user, posting in almost every ban request thread.
I really find it strange that so many users chose to not engage for so many years and feel emboldened now. Oh well, GAF needs someone to fill the void left by it's most active users. I'm interested to see what kind of community it gets shaped into in the coming months.

As a mod at a chatroom site, I really don't understand why there seems to be the whole "witch-hunt" mentality with this site's moderation team. The only time you should ever consult another team member is if the potential offender in question goes outside the usual TOS/Guidelines either because it's an outlier, or because behaviour actually might not justify a ban and requires input from other people. But at the same time, I'm not surprised. The problem seems to be that these people let their emotions and biases get in the way of assessing each case when that's a detriment more than anything.
I think it's time for Evilore and whoever else is anonymous to consider rethinking their moderation system.

Even though Ive only had an account here for two and a half years which might not seem like much at all, Ive been lurking around and reading this forum for about 5 years now. The community here was great and it was tons of fun having discussions with all kinds of people, whether about gaming or other things.
I dont know if this is my last post here or if Ill be back at any point ever, but at the moment, I and many others have found a new home. For those who have decided to stay, good luck to you! Ill still come back occasionally to maybe see whats going on or to read older archived threads again, but my primary focus will be on Reset Era from now on. Thanks for all the memories and great times here! Its been a pleasure. Ill definitely miss this site.

First im going to post that i might be done for a while here. Im saying a while cause i dont know what could happen in the future. For the most part, iv decide to stay neutral about everything going on. Neogaf is a website i respect a lot. Its where most serious gamer could come and discuss about games and everything else. Its the place that even if my english isnt perfect, i was never judge about my grammar mistakes, compare to the constant blasting i was receiving at gamefaqs.
When it went down, for me, it was like if facebook when down. I probably value gaf more important,more interesting than facebook. Even if i was not one making the most comment, topics, more staying in the middle pack guy, i enjoyed coming here every freakin day. It was part of my life. It informed me, entertained me, make me laugh. When it went back on, i was just happy, and digging the way the owner decide to do it. Lets talk about games, entertainement, and toss backward everything political, controversial. Was happy, maybe innocently, but was happy. But was it the way to do it?
A big part of me is saying no. Sure, evilore you create something amazing, but if there is one thing we should be able to discuss freely, its off topics discusion, specialy some who come with the sexual arrasment movement. Its not something we should been dictated to shut our mouth about it. Here where i live in Quebec, the owner of Just for Laughs , which is if you dont know, the place you look for all comedy entertainment in Montreal and Canada, well he got pointed out by tons of women who got arrased by him. The guy was big, bigger than you.
One thing he is doing atm, is trying to sell his share with all the controversy. His head can be big, bigger than yours, but he is atm doing something to not save his name, but to save something he created. What he create is simply, bigger than him.
Not here to tell you what to do,judge you about what you have or havent do, cant predict if neogaf will survive this flood, but simply posting this because if neogaf happen to survive, i hope it will, it will come up to the decisions you will make, and in my heart, i dont think your atm are making the best one, and maybe my post could make you open your eyes?

One of the new red names in the other thread had an unfamiliar name and no post history, which begs the question if the new moderation team are respected forum community chosen by merit or sycophants devoted to the company line. We don't know. At the end of the day, who does the moderation represent?

I don't understand the ban requests. If you are done with neogaf and can't stand to see Evilore get ad revenue why give clicks and keep coming here just to say "Ban me". Those same people are probably gonna be lurking the site after the fact too looking at reactions. I don't get people.
