Warning, spoilers
So, Bloodborne is now over. We got even the Old Hunters DlC that added some challenge to an already perfect (i know, i know) game.

5. Best item(s):Beast Roar!
6. Best enemy(s): dunno..winter lantern just for the sheer terror of knowing one is around
7. Best soundtrack(s): Ludwig

That meme should be bannable. Derails too many threads. Oh, and fix your GotY post OP. It's currently invalid cause you didn't use that semicolon. ;)

But here's mine.
1. Best location(s): Forbidden Woods. The confusing lay-out, the gradual reveal of something more cosmic, the best shortcut in the game, the sheer variety of enemies, the traps, the windmill at the centre and a cool boss fight, this location has it all.

2. Best weapon(s): threaded cane. A cane that becomes a sword and a sword that becomes a chainwhip. Beat that.

3. Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower. The setting, her speedy attacks that turn the fight into a balletic duel at times, the lore implications and the music are all fantastic.
2. Ludwig the Accursed and Holy Blade. Hardest fight in the game for me. He has a ton of different attacks, the best transformation in the game that says a lot about his character and the music in the second phase, oh my.
3. Gehrman the First Hunter. Master versus student. Awesome setting. And like Ludwig, he's such a tragic figure too. When the choir chants "Free me from the sleep, I beg", in Latin, I got genuine chills.

And Top 3 hardest bosses (haven't completed the fishing hamlet yet, so this will probably change).
1. Ludwig.
2. Martyr Logarius.
3. Gehrman, the first hunter.

4. Best outfit(s): Cainhurst set is gorgeous.

5. Best item(s): Exectioner's Gloves. The stacking damage and stun on that make it a formidable Arcane item.

6. Best enemy(s): I like the NPC hunters. Always different and challenging.

7. Best soundtrack: Gehrman, the First Hunter.

Top 3 coolest bosses: (no particular order)
1. Lady Maria (So stylish)
2. Martyr Logarius
3. Vicar Amelia
Special mention to the beautiful meteor shower attack from the Living Failures

Top 3 hardest bosses: (again, no particular order here)
1. Laurence
2. Gehrman
3.
Witches of Hemwick - I did not pick up on their trickery and died possibly more to them than any other boss on the first run

1. Best location(s): Hunter's Dream boss arena and Old Yharnam
2. Best weapon(s): Ludwig's Holy Blade and the Whirligig Saw
3. Best outfit(s): Henryk's hat, Brador's set, Maria's set
4. Best item(s): Old Hunter Bone was cool, didn't really use it much though. Also realy like the Blacksky Eye
5. Best enemy(s): Bagmen, silverbeasts (cool variety: sideways mouth, fire, lightning, and then the maggots in the Mensis ones)
6. Best soundtrack(s): Song from fighting Logarius

Boss, Gherman
Weapon, Rakuya
Location, Cainhurst/fishing Village. A tie between the best looking, and funnest to play through.

2. Best weapon(s): Rakuyo

And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Ludwig
2. Gehrman

5. Best item(s): Hardly used any items other than healing stuff so not sure... probably bolt paper?
6. Best enemy(s): can't pick
7. Best soundtrack(s): Gehrman boss theme and Lady Maria theme

Best location(s): Cainhurst Castle for looks, Nightmare Mensis for enemy variety
Best weapon(s): LHB for being a powerhouse, Kirkhammer for the awesome changing momentum feel when you go from one attack to the next, the Hunter's Axe for it's wide swings, the Whirligig Saw for L2, and the Saw Cleaver for it's beast killing power while looking way better than the ugly Saw Spear.
Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Father G
2. Martyr Logarius
3. OoK
Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Abhorrent Beast
2. Pthumerian Elder
3. Laurence
Best outfit(s): Executioner set
Best item(s): Shaman Bone Blade
Best enemy(s): Madman for the freaky look and amazing animation, Pigs for being hilarious, Trolls for looking cool, Trenchcoat guys for being easy to parry, Giants for the unique parry trigger, Sackmen because kung fu, and Beast Possesed Soul for attacking anything that moves.
Best soundtrack(s): Father G fight

Best location(s): Central Yarnham, Cathedral Ward

Best weapon(s): Kirkhammer, Whirligig Saw

Both of the normal forms of these weapons are pretty much identical and they are reliable way to get through the game. Then you can trick them for some style or to take down enemies you know how to fight very quickly.

Top 3 coolest bosses
1. Martyr Logarius
2. Amygdala
3. Blood starved beast

Logarius is a cool character and his move set is varied and interesting. Plus he flies. I love the scale of the amygdala fight. BSB for how disgusting it is.

And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Ebrietas
2. Ludwig
3. Martyr Logarius

I was stuck on Ebrietas for far longer than any other boss and to be honest I only beat her because I was overleveled. Ludwig for how insanely fast he can move. Logarious because his spells messed me up many times.

Best outfit(s): Old hunters cap, White church garb, Gascgoine's gloves, White church trousers

This is what i dress my hunter in. Crow set is a close second.

Best item(s): Fire paper

Your hammer is now on fire.

Best enemy(s): Bloody crow of cainhurst. Church giant. Executioner.

Cainhurst crow is probably the hardest none boss enemy in the game and its a great fight. I also love fighting the slow but powerful enemies. The moment early in the game where you can fight an executioner but gain nothing from it is a nice introduction to bloodborne. The fight was its own reward.

Best soundtrack(s): Cleric beast boss theme

I havent fully finished the game yet so perhaps these picks could change.

1. Best location: The Fishing Hamlet

I adore how they pretty much created their own version
of Innsmouth
, with also some touches from other stories. Just
looking at Yharnam down below
was such an amazing moment.

The encounter design is also a bit distinctive from the rest of the game. Not sure if better, but it was definitely a breath of fresh air.

We get a bit more insight into some of Byrgenwerth's actions,
we fight Brador a bunch of times (he calls himself Navlaan now)
. Great times, man. I kinda wish they connected the lower level of the village thing after the lighthouse better, or at least gave you something more interesting down there, some weapon or another unique item, but overall it was outstanding.

Other incredible locations would be Hypogean Gaol (in particular, not as much of a fan of the entire Yahar'gul level under the paleblood sky) and, of course, Central Yharnam.

2. Best weapon: The Holy Moonlight Sword.

Which is a surprise to me, because I was very disappointed to find out it wasn't a primarely ARC weapon, but I adore the moveset.

My true mentor...
My guiding moonlight...

3. Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower
2. Darkbeast Paarl
3. Micolash, Host of the Nightmare

And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Laurence, the First Vicar
2. (Defiled) Watchdog of the Old Lords
3. Ludwig, the Accursed

*Judging coolest mostly by the design or personality, my favorite boss fight overall
is Ludwig.

4. Best outfit:

Hunter Hat
Maria Hunter Garb
Old Hunter Gloves
Yharnam Hunter Trousers

5. Best item:

Beast Blood Pellet. The one thing I don't like about Beast Blood Pellets is that they're almost too good.

6. Best enemy:

The Kidnapper. Just because of the Hypogean Gaol event :p

7. Best soundtrack(s):

Cleric Beast and
Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower
.

1. Central Yharnam
2. Rakuyo, Burial Blade

Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Lady Maria
2. Gherman
3. Ludwig

Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Ludwig
2. Orphan
3. Rom

Best outfit(s): Old Hunter's Set
Best item(s): The all mighty Pebble

1. Best location(s): Hypogean Gaol. I mean, not only do they use Olde English spelling of jail, the way you enter the area and the creepy music you're welcomed with is just fantastic.
2. Best weapon(s): Beasthunter Saif. So much versatility - the short version has a fantastic lunge, the the long version's attacks are sweeping.

3. Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Brain of Mensis. This boss haunts me. I love that it's present throughout the whole level, I love it's area when suspended (hundreds of impaled people kneeling/praying to it), and the journey down to it's final location is creepy as hell.
2. The First Hunter. Nice fight area.
3. Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos.
Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Abhorrent Beast. Too damn fast and aggressive.
2. Ludwig, The Holy Blade. Transition to this phase is great.
3. Watchdog of the Old Lords (Defiled). Fought this guy so often I can probably do it with my eyes closed now. But it was fun to learn his patterns.

4. Best outfit(s): Tomb Prospector's outfit. Stuck to it the whole game. Also helps that it's worn by quite a few NPCs too.
5. Best item(s): Augur of Ebrietas. Now that it can parry...hoo boy.
6. Best enemy(s): Winter Lantern. Such creepy humming.
7. Best soundtrack(s): The Living Failures.

Best location(s): Forbidden Castle Cainhurst, Yahargul/Hypogean Gaol (the first time around when you get kidnapped)

Best weapon(s): Burial Blade, Rakuyo and Chikage

Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Gehrmann
2. Logarius
3. Abhorrent Beast

And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Defiled Chalice version of Amygdala
2. Ludwig
3. Laurence

Best outfit(s): Lady Maria Set, Charred Hunter Set, Bone Ash Set and Graveguard Set

5. Best item(s): Old Hunter Bone

6. Best enemy(s): Bloodlicker, Brainsucker, Madmen/Sages in the Chalice Dungeons.

7. Best soundtrack(s): Hail the nightmare (Yahargul theme)

Hmmm, let's see.

Best location(s): Central Yharnam, Cathedral Ward, Cainhurst Castle, Hunter's Nightmare, Fishing Hamlet

Best weapon(s): Ludwig's Holy Blade (very powerful), Moonlight Sword (powerful and fun to play), Beasthunter Saif (I admit, I didn't like it at first, but the moveset is actually great, I love it)

3. Top 3 coolest bosses:
1. Gehrman, the First Hunter
2. Ludwig the Accursed / the Holy Blade
3. Father Gascoigne
(4. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower)

And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Orphan of Kos
2. Lawrence the First Vicar
3. Ludwig the Accursed / The Holy Blade
(4. Martyr Logarius)

4. Best outfit(s): Father Gascoigne Set, Crowfeather Set, Cainhurst Set, Charred Hunter Set, Harrowed Set

5. Best item(s): Bone Marrow Ash and Molotov Cocktail (I use that stuff so much)

6. Best enemy(s): Hmmm don't really know but the Executioners from the Hunter's Nightmare are intriguing to me. I like the Blood-drunk Hunters too (even if they are a pain in the ass). The Ghosts in Cainhurst Castle.

7. Best soundtrack(s): Gehrman's theme, Lawrence's theme, Orphan of Kos 1st phase's theme, Hunter's Dream's 1st theme, Lullaby for Mergo (but I love the whole soundtrack !)

Best location(s): Castle Cainhurst
There are stronger locations regarding design and combat encounters but taken as a whole Cainhurt hits all the right notes for me, a mostly unique selection of enemies in a gorgeous gothic locale capped off with a stellar boss fight. It's also packing a fair amount of great items that make it one of the more rewarding areas to seek out everything you can.
Still can't believe they made this place completely missable.

Best weapon(s): My heart wants to say Burial Blade because my unashamed scythe boner but it's honestly a bit iffy.
Whirligig wins out at the moment though I've still got plenty of weapons to toy around with.

Top 3 coolest bosses (coolest? okay)
1. Lady Maria
That clocktower setting, that straight up ruck. that increasing range with blood and fire, hot damn it's a good 'un.
2. Gherman
The burial blade is a lot better in his hands
3. Martyr Logarius
More scythes? yes please
HM: To Vicar Amelia and Ludwig as far as stompy beasts go

Top 3 hardest bosses
1. Orphan of Kos
I damn near crapped my pants the first time I witnessed the lightning storm attack.
Dude hits like a runaway freight train, tough but rewarding.
2. Ebrietas
That dash attack was the bane of my life, two powerful hits for the price of one, FUCK YOU!
3. Laurence
Explosive fiery bullshit had me like Dr Nefarious, LAUREEEEENCE!

Best outfit(s)
The Father Gascoigne: Look at that fabulous scarf
The Crowfeather set: Because feathers and beak

Best enemy(s): Bagman and Church Servants

Best soundtrack(s):
The First Hunter (that melancholy!)
Cleric Beast (that choir!)
Ludwig the Accursed/Holy Blade (that transformation!)

1. Best location(s): The Cathedral Ward, Cainhurst Castle
2. Best weapons(s): Mercy Blades, Whirligig Saw
3. Top 3 coolest bosses (you can select more):
1. Lady Maria
2. Mergo's Wet Nurse
3. Orphan of Kos
And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Gehrman
2. Ludwig
3. Logarius
4. Best outfit(s): Executioner Set, Maria's Set
5. Best item(s): PEBBLE!!!
6. Best enemy(s): The Shadows of Yharnam
7. Best soundtrack(s): The First Hunter, Terror

Micolash is a fun gimmick boss on normal, but is infuriating on repeat playthroughs because his magic attack in the second confrontation is a guaranteed one hit KO.

Make sure to fight him up close.

It's not my favorite fight, but he's a really cool villain, the one true villain in the game I'd say. Other bosses are mostly tragic figures, but Micolash is a deranged bad guy with awesome lines.

good timing on this thread. I played the hell out of bloodborne but got stuck. Sat on it for 5 months, now Im playing again. Finally progressed too. Beat Rom and now see the real world....

Ill give the questions a thought but definitely ludwigs holy blade for weapon.

1. Best location: Research Hall is fantastic. A great mixture of vertical level design reminiscent of Dukes Archives, and heavy atmosphere like the Tower of Latria.

2. Best weapon: The Threaded Cane is the best weapon in the series, followed by the Amygdalan Arm.

Top 3 coolest bosses
1. Ludwig I can never skip his mid boss transition. It's awesome.
2. Mergo's Wet Nurse
3. Gehrman

Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Orphan of Kos
2. Ludwig
3. Laurence

4. Best outfit: I like the Yarnham Hunter set followed by the Cainhurst set. I prefer mix and matching to make this.
5. Best item(s): Madaras Whistle is really fun to use. A call beyond looks great too.
6. Best enemy: Pthumerian Revanant
7. Best soundtrack: Ludwig theme is amazing.

Equip beast roar, mash R1 and use the roar when you're about to run out of stamina.

If you don't have enough Arcane for this, then you just need to not give him the chance. It can be difficult.

Almost done with NG+ and Saw Cleaver is the only weapon I've used.

Well, it is the strongest weapon, imo :p

The Crow outfit may just be my favourite outfit I've ever obtained in any RPG. It was bloody hard to get, as that final Hunter has a billion HP, and could 2 bang me at the time...
Looks amazing too!

1. Best location(s): Cainhurt Castle (I'm biased as fuck for that art style).
2. Best weapon(s): Kirkhammer.

3. Top 3 coolest bosses (you can select more): 2 and 3 were easy bosses for me, but I liked the boss design.
1. Ludwig
2. Orphan of Kos
3. Martyr Logarius

And Top 3 hardest bosses:
1. Ludwig
2. Laurence
3. Chalice Keeper of the Old Lords

4. Best outfit(s): N/A
5. Best item(s): N/A
6. Best enemy(s): Labyrinth Madman (This thing scares the shit out of me).
7. Best soundtrack(s): Ludwig's theme.

Here's hoping Dark Souls III finally has a final boss that can dethrone Gwyn as best final boss. Gerhman simply didn't do it for me design or challenge wise.

Note: I'm extremely surprised to see all of the Cainhurt Castle responses. It seems a lot of us are biased for the Souls art style.

How can anyone who has played the game not say that the Crow of Cainhurst is the hardest "boss" in the game?

That was the Hunter in the Grand Cathedral right? It was tricky, but I managed to take it down on the second try with some timely parries, and lots of dodging. Tough, but not that bad. I had to do it on NG+ though because I messed up her storyline on my first run.

Luckily you can more or less cheese him/her because killing him/her in a fair one on one is almost impossible.

I swear I burned around 200 blood vials the last time I fought this fucker and then just said fuck it and cheesed him.

You must have been either crazy lucky or overleveled as fuck. This guy constantly spawns all over the place, has an crazy amount of health (more than any legit boss in the game), heals himself at least once and his fucking gun almost insta-kill you.

the wooden shield turns the guns of opposing hunters into joke weapons, FYI. I always equip it in my off hand if I know a tough one is coming.

Well, so you did cheese him... I can go down the stairs and kill him on my first time too you know. As I said, a normal fair fight is extremely difficult against this guy because it takes such a long time to drain his health but he can kill you with a single shot.

???

how is using the wooden shield intermittently "cheesing" him? I used a flaming chain whip, dodged when I could, shield when I couldn't. Takes patience but he goes down without a whole lot of bother.

In no WAY is using a shield that has literally no other use but blocking gunfire the same thing as exploiting a bug in the game.

Thinking about getting into this game. Any starter tips?

Whats this i hear about remapping buttons or whatever?

Should i be grinding out my shit before trying to progress or....?

From what i understand the game doesn't really hold your hand, at all, and just throws you right into it.

I just wanna be good right off the bat. Halp.

Agreed. I used Executioner Gloves on him, which works great. Yes, he can heal once, but his use of the Chikage cuts into his health as well.

1. That stupid fire dog in the Chalice Dungeons
This guy gave me a hard time too because of the low health they give you. It was manageable once I summoned the old hunter "Queen Killer" that weilded the Logarius Wheel instead of the one with the kirkhammer.

1. Best location(s):
- Hunter's Nightmare (DLC). Some people complained about how this area reused some assets from Cathedral Ward, but this single area basically sums up everything that's cool about BB. Traps, epic scenery, side-paths and shortcuts up the wazoo, and challenging enemies.
- Central Yarnham. Such a huge area with so many secrets and shortcuts to find.
- Nightmare Frontier. I like this level for a number of reasons, but the main reason is because it is the most "Demon's Souls" level in the game in terms of unfairness, level design, and overall tone.
- Mergo's Loft. This is an exceptional area that combines many of my favorite aspects of the Souls series into one level. It has a ton of unique enemies and traps (such as the passive Frenzy damage when you're standing in the open). It also has those damn elevator cages which gives me mad DeS nostalgia.

2. Best weapon(s):
- Saw Cleaver. Very reliable weapon with a solid moveset, but definitely not overpowered or imbalanced. If you can git gud w a cleaver, you can git gud with any other weapon in the game.
- Saif. Basically a cleaver that is too powerful. The footsies you can do with this is borderline unfair. I really like how it looks and even though it doesn't have the added beast damage like the other two cleavers, the speed and combos more than make up for it.
- Whirligig. chainsaw2win.
- Blades of Mercy. Though I am really enjoying Saif's moveset, BoM became my go-to in NG+ due to how mobile you can be. The stunlocking is nice and it feels like such a "pure" weapon. Favorite usage is to fight Hunters in 2h mode without resorting to items or guns.

3. Top 3 coolest bosses (you can select more):
Choosing not to comment.

Top 3 hardest bosses (for me, simply based on # of retries):
1. Pthumerian Elder (in Chalice)
2. headless beast (in Chalice)
3. Vicar Amelia

4. Best outfit(s):
Crow mask, Khaki Haori, Executioner Gloves, and Crow pants is my current Fashionborne choice.

5. Best item(s):
Beast Blood Pellet

6. Best enemy(s):
I choose to pass on this question, though I will say that the enemies in this game are very challenging and full of variety (which was not the case in DS2, in my opinion).

7. Best soundtrack(s):
Lady Maria and Gerhman's themes.

Well, so you did cheese him... I can go down the stairs and kill him on my first time too you know. As I said, a normal fair fight is extremely difficult against this guy because it takes such a long time to drain his health but he can kill you with a single shot.

That's not cheesing at all :p
