Great to know that. I will be patient and wait a little more.
It's amazing how fast things are going lately with the Wii U Homebrew.
I have my DNS changed to the one in the OP. Should I put it back to normal or do I keep it?
Keep it.

smea said:yellows8 just published details for contenthax vulnerabilities in the WiiU N64 virtual console emulator!
Anyone else unable to toggle SNES aspect ratio? I'm trying to run SMW at 4:3 but it remains stretched.
Installing The Homebrew Launcher on RedNAND, by Maschell.
Edit: Not public yet. Release depends on Dimok's decision.
....is there any way to boot directly to rednand ?
Because otherwise that is pretty useless
So I've looked at haxchi for quite a while now trying to get it to maybe launch another application or do anything but the final boss of it all is in fact exiting the ds game again after taking control over it. I've put a lot hours into this problem alone already and just got done writing with dimok for 3 hours walking through everything again and trying different things and we could not figure out any way of exiting, everything just ends up in a blackscreen, the wii menu music still playing and nothing you can press but the power button to shut the console down. I dont think anyone expected a simple exit command to be the most difficult thing in this all, by now I really dont know anymore what to do next.
/u/vgmoose changed his system.xml (on redNAND) to autoboot Wind Waker; and found that the system would not load the Wii U Menu, instead constantly rebooting into Wind Waker when he tried to quit.
I've noticed a lot of people talking about the system.xml change, and I wanted to put this here before someone finds themselves in a very sticky situation on their sysNAND. It's currently unknown if you can load wupserver while on a looping sysNAND.
You can, in theory, simply have haxchi boot straight into a CFW, but again, you would lose access to the Wii U Menu on sysNAND and possibly wupserver on sysNAND (required to fix the issue). Please be careful and wait for something to be confirmed before messing with your Wii U's boot process.
That said, haxchi itself is perfectly safe and only risks messing up your copy of Brain Age, which can be redownloaded from the eShop. I strongly recommend anyone use it from the Wii U Menu. I wrote up a small, preliminary guide here.
Can you guys connect to Loadiine website from the browser? I can't. I get error 112-1006, and my Wi-Fi is working perfectly.
We really need a Homebrew launcher icon in the main window, without needing to connect to the internet, in case it does not work.
So I had to go back to auto DNS, because otherwise my Wii U wouldn't connect to the internet. I don't know if it's my Wii U's or my modem's problem, but I had no choice if I wanted to go to the Homebrew Channel.
The main DNS server is down at the moment. You can set a secondary DNS to restore internet:

Can anyone link me to the best guide for hacking vwii on Wii U? I have SSBB. PAL if it matters.
Oh cool, new builds of Retroarch can change the aspect ratio now.
Only Europe has a physical release. With region free what's the best option to get a physical version of Fatal Frame in English (at least subtitles)?
I used this guide with my PAL Lego Indiana Jones a month ago. It has instructions for SSBB as well.
Woop woop. Still going to hold out for a little while for some good guides, along with various kinks to be sorted out.So, region free is now a reality on Wii U: https://gbatemp.net/threads/region-free-on-wii-u.448468/
I haven't tested it yet, because right now I am in the literal middle of nowhere, but I definitely will once I get home!

So, trying to catch up on things. Is Rednand where we are heading, or are most things being done on Sysnand?
The main guide on r/Wiiuhacks doesn't mention Rednand, but half of gbatemp has it, so I am unsure of its popularity.
It seems everything is still in a real stage of infancy. I'm biding my time till it matures a heck of a lot more.
I'm still staying on FW 5.3.2 as well. I know pretty much everyone has gone to the latest, but in the tiny chance older FWs are needed or easier to do something on I'll stay here. Not interested in dabbling in any of this till it has 3DS like NAND backup options and what not.
Better to update to 5.5.1 now while it's still the current build on the server, just in case Nintendo ever update it. (Hahahaha)
I mean, Nintendo released a (unlisted) system update for the Wii right before the Wii U released in order to facilitate system transfer. It is not unreasonable that the Wii U gets one so you can migrate save data or something like that. I don't really see any reason to just dismiss the possibility out of hand at this point.
with the Switch having no BC, it's not very likely that will happen since the transfer was pretty much for BC stuff when the Wii got updated right before the Wii U's release.
also, save transfer for the Switch ports? i wouldn't count on that. it's Nintendo after all. if they do offer that, it'd be a 1% miracle becoming reality.

I was thinking more about VC for the save transfer thing. By and large the "ports" are going to be quite different games.
I agree it makes sense to get up to date, but aren't there disc based games that ship with 5.5.1 for the people who decide to upgrade after a hypothetically newer firmware drops?
Paper Mario Color Splash is the sole game with 5.5.1 so far. Sure, you could update with that one, but give me just one solid, tangible reason not to update now and not stay on 5.3.2.
I think they will be using the revamped account system for that. Remember that the Wii didn't really have a proper account system, so you had to "physically" move your games between consoles for them to be preserved (at least, as physically as you can move digital games).

Honestly, no one is working in backporting anything to 5.3.2. There's really no reason to stay on an older firmware, since the vulnerabilities used for these exploits are all present in 5.5.1. Anything you can do on 5.3.2 you can do on 5.5.1, plus hassle-free online play and eShop access.

You guys are probably right, can I get a confirmation 5.5.1 is still the latest and then I'll update tonight? I would search or go on GBATemp but half the time I'm paranoid someone trolls me.
Is there configuration for retroarch yet? This seems like a great console for emulation due to the gamepad, but it would be nice to adjust aspect ratio/scaling options.
