GameStop offering $20 credit towards destiny TTK if you trade in original copy

I know tons of people dropped destiny at vanilla and they are faced with a sucky deal of $60 or get out. I just received an email from GameStop offering a $20 credit towards TTK legendary edition if you trade in a copy of the original game valid until 9-21.

Does TTK disc have everything on disc or is it codes + vanilla destiny inside? If it is codes then it is the same as people keeping vanilla destiny and buying digital for TTK

Not necessarily. If you don't have the dlc you don't qualify for digital TTK afaik.

Any chance that they will extend offer towards the Collector's Edition?

Hell, with this offer I may just buy the LE and sell the Collector's Edition on eBay -- looks like they are going for $150+.

Vanilla + codes. If you don't have either of the first two expansions this is actually a decent deal.

So this trade in offer is basically for updating box art lol.
If you only have vanilla the cheapest TTK upgrade is $60. This knocks it down to $40, which is the base price of you already own Dark Below and House of Wolves.

I'm going to ask. I have the CE as well but I'm betting no.

Bestbuy still might be a better deal if they give you a decent trade in price and you have the gamer card.

not quite, someone like me who never bought the first two dlc packs will get them for free buying the retail release, at current UK prices buying the taken king at retail is the same as just TTK digital WITHOUT the main game or dlc 1 or 2, huge price difference.

This is pretty smart move by gamestop. I'm feeling pretty compelled to take them up on it, since my primary issue with TTK pricing is that, as someone who owns vanilla and HoW, I still had no recourse but to pay the full $60 price.

If you own the two DLC's, then this is an even swap for the digital TTK download, which is $40.

If you don't, then it saves you $20 vs. the Legendary edition, which includes both. Pretty good deal, just for a specific group of players.

Taken King is probably going to get me back into Destiny, and I'm still on the vanilla version so I might have to take them up on this.

Who knew gamestop was gonna be the best option for people to save a buck

They have to know they arent going to resell these discs

I guess they just want people back in the store

If it's like The Last of Us trade in for the remaster, you only need to give them the disc.
I'll be keeping my steelbook case.

Damn.

I was gonna skip this since, at a $60 price point, I can't help but feel this is the product they should have gave me last year. And I'm put off by Bungie's distorted conception of value, given there are definitely people out there who already spent $100 on Destiny and buying its expansions peicemeal. Selling me The Taken King for $40 along with the DLCs I skipped changes that mental perception, as arbitrary as I'm willing to admit that is.

Might be heading to Gamestop for this

Content wise this is a pretty awesome deal for people without the DLC.

*sigh* I thought it was stupid people that lost the cases but now I know the truth about all those crumby generic boxes at GS.

Or you could keep your physical destiny disc, buy the legendary version, use the codes for the expansions, then sell the legendary version back to gamestop for 30-33 dollars.

would they buy it back for that much? considering it won't have the codes.

Man. Best Buy fucked me with this recently since I traded in FIFA 15 for like $9.80 last week.. come to find out they'll offer $20 towards a FIFA 16 preorder with it. If they follow suit after I also traded in Destiny despite my TTK preorder, I'll rage. >:(

33 is the most I have seen them give for a new release.

Also when FFX\X2 on the vita was new I saw that it had the normal trade in value, even though X2 is just a code.

This is a great deal as it equal's BB's. After the BB Gamer's Club, it came to like $48 w/o a $7 trade in.

I know it's early, but has anyone actually done this yet? The link in the OP is still the only actual place on the internet that seems to mention the $20 trade credit deal, the gamestop site itself doesn't have it anywhere.
