Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

What is with this fucked up game? Why does it take 7 fast travels to find people doing an event?

And just as I did, weasel error code.

Maybe we need another server maintenance?

I don't really care about streamers but rather my experience and it has been quite "thin" to be honest. I feel like I've had every weapon there is to get in the game 20 times each and armor too. My concerns have become reality in that without a huge amount of variety and quantity, removing random perks were going to be devastating to the game's longevity.

The more you think about it the less things add up.

I don't like the idea of Destiny being simply a reset day game as that, well, sucks.

Fits with my playstyle and freetime a lot more. I used to be super into WoW raiding because, with the exception of the rush to get Raid ready, I could just play 2 nights a week on guild raid night. When Legion came out, and you constantly had to be playing to keep your artifact power up, I had to stop playing with a guild I had raided with for 6 years, because I did not have the free time. I am glad that I can keep up in Destiny with only 5 - 10 hours a week of play time.

This kind of stuff is insane to me. I know some people like this and Im glad its out there for those, but yeesh....

I can see why those who want to delve more hours into the game are starting to feel that they've seen all that there is to offer after a month. For purely selfish reasons I'm happy that I can play the game after reset for a night and stay in touch with the rest of the guild. Then when the weekend comes get together with friends/clan to go attempt the Raid.

It's a tough one to balance, as I know I'd lose interest if my friends (who can play a lot more than I can) started to pull away in terms of gear/power. There's only so many times they'd want to help me grind out gear before they get bored of not progressing their own characters.

I've been stuck in infinite tower loading before, but just had my first hard crash. Wasn't doing anything just having a conversation while sifting files on my laptop and the PS4 crashes. Nice.

It's just absurd that we're not even a month in and you can basically already have everything. I mean we barely have cycled the Nightfalls. It was such an incredibly bad idea to remove random perks from gear/weapons. It has murdered this game's longevity.

The gameplay is fun but there just isn't much pay-off for anything anymore.

I'm left wondering if I should bother with running the Nightfall on my Titan and Warlock and at this early stage in the game that is just plain sad.

As someone who never got an Eyasluna with anything other than Grenadier & Exhumed, I welcome our new fixed roll world.

I’m still working on building my sets for all my characters & the new NFs are a fun challenge. Still playing every week with my Raid group trying to figure out optimal strategies. Playing Trials with my crew, trying to improve. It’s a good time. And it’s less stressful because loot isn’t impossible.

okay, but how many hours do you have in the game now?

If it's over 100, I don't think that 'thin' is the right word to be used here.

Just because I have or any other player pours tons of time into a game doesn't necessarily mean the game isn't thin on content. I've been playing and re-playing Bungie games since the 90s. I'm just saddened that Destiny has become what it seemingly has become and if last week's "event" is any indication then wow, what a ride we are in for in between expansions.

I’m planning to get this when it hits PC later this month. Trouble is, I have no friends and I can only play at odd hours. Since I’m gonna need other people in order to have fun with this game, I wanted to ask what you folks would recommend.

1. Is there a good outside-of-the-game resource for finding other Destiny players in my time zone?
2. For those who’ve played the PC beta: I am not at a desk and would be playing on a couch using an Xbox One controller. How badly am I likely to get destroyed?

Hopped on D1 to FINALLY play the Echo Chamber strike from two years ago, and oh man I want to fucking cry.

I get my super and grenade so fast... I get to use a sniper AND a rocket launcher... this game is so great. Focusing away from the abilities in D2 was such a huge fucking mistake to me.

Oh great, so we get a shit tier Scout Rifle instead of an interesting looking Omolon Pulse. Thanks Space Goths :'(

It's actually a solid PvE rifle. YMMV in PvP with it. But it's got higher Impact than Call to Serve and has HCR, so for Precision shooters, it kills stuff quick and staggers when it's not a one shot.

THE 100 is for you...

...you'll be at a disadvantage in PvP but PvE is ideal for a controller. I guess it depends on how competitive you are to whether playing against players with KB/M will bother you. PvP will be tuned on PC to be played with a controller as well.

Sign up for the DestinyGAF discord. There will be an LFG channel there for pc players. The Xbox one is fairly active right now and I bet the pc one will be even more active.

Discord info is in the OT.

Not home yet so can't check, but what level is the reputation gun? Hoping it scales up like a powerful engram, I chose Dead Orbit just so I could infuse the scout rifle they have into my Nameless Midnight.

I, like a dumbass, thought I’d be able to purchase my faction’s (FWC) special weapon regardless on if we won. Thought it would be 50,000 if we lost and 1,000 if we won. My misunderstanding :(. And we get stuck with this junk scout now. These post-golden age edgelords have ruined it all.

Just got a fighting lion and a flash and thunder at considerable higher light than all my other stuff. Can be 299 light but stuck with 2 crappy nade launchers:(

The perks on it are largely useless (HCR is way better on something with a higher rate of fire), and there's literally no reason to use it with so many better Scout options available.

The Pulse looked way more interesting.

I am legitimately disappointed that people chose Shaders over great weapons. Hope we see the Pulse come back soon.

HCR is only "way better on something with a higher rate of fire" in PvP. And most people chose their faction before the PvP streamers started praising the FWC guns (which aren't hands down better to begin with).

The Pulse may have looked interesting to you, and there's nothing wrong with that. Others thought the Omolon Sidearm looked great. Still others the Scout. That's just how it goes.

Pretty sure, by and large, there was very little interest in the Scout once the perks were revealed. And I have seen next to no interest in NM besides the excellent shaders.

Don't have any loyalty to any faction but FWC had the best guns hands down (Yes, hands down).

265 is the "soft cap", meaning blues & (most) legendary engrams will drop a few levels below your current level -- in your case, at 274, blues & what not will probably be dropping around 268/269, so don't pay too much attention to them unless it's a gun you want.

Each week you get milestones (they're always the same aside from doing this on a different planet) -- pull up the map, hold down L2, & you will see them on the left side of the screen. You'll notice some of them have rewards that will read "powerful engrams", these (& exotics) are what you want to progress to & beyond 280.

If you haven't completed the exotic quests in the game yet, those will scale to your PL when you get them (scale meaning they will drop higher than your current PL).

If you aren't in a clan, I'd recommend joining one as the weekly rewards you get for completing this & that also scale past your current PL.

Reset was today, so you have a fresh slate of activities to do this week. Hopefully the above wasn't too confusing & you'll be able to gain a few levels this week, RNG pending!

Regarding your Nightfall inquiry, ask in here again the next time you're on & free, I'm sure you will find someone to help. I like to think you weren't ignored this morning, it was more a case of it would be impossible to run the NF with you that low of a level.

I would love to help, but if you play at 3 AM I'm afraid our schedules won't match up, sadly. However, feel free to shoot me a FR & I'll be happy to help with whatever I can if we are both online at the same time. My PSN is the same as my GAF name.
Thank you very much. It’s people like you that make GAF the greatest place on the web for gamers to gather. Keep up the good work, gaurdian 👍🏽
