They don't really compete with each other much, and I say that as someone who has a handheld (just) gaming PC.
The Switch is really much thinner, lighter, and more portable. It has far better battery life. You can pop one in a bag and just about not notice it. A handheld gaming PC? Haha, no.
Not to mention the Switch and whatever will follow will be cheaper.
And then there are the first-party exclusives, which Nintendo are, honestly, hands down the best at.
Plus the 'it just werks/plug and play' of a console. No, the Steam Deck does not have that.
