Sir Keir Starmer is expected to announce plans for a compulsory UK-wide digital ID scheme in a speech on Friday.

The prime minister believes it would help crack down on illegal working and modernise the state, according to senior figures in government.

The practicalities of the scheme will be subject to a consultation, which will also look at how to make it work for those without a smartphone or passport.

The previous Labour government's attempt to introduce ID cards was ultimately blocked by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition.

They say they're doing this to help keep control of illegal immigration.

In reality, they'll do no such thing but they'll be able to arrest us more easily when we complain about it.

Migrants throw away their documents so no one knows who they are.

This is to censor any negative speech about government, migrants, rape gangs etc.

People will clog up the courts and the next government will scrap it. Allowing child rape is the worst thing Labour did, but hopefully this shit gets more people to never vote for them again.

All migrants in hotels?

They now get a card. Congratulations, you've just made a 'problem' go away and you've secured votes :messenger_ok:

Those rapey and other criminal ones?

Pffffft, whatever 🤷‍♂️

Good Times.

Pretty sure the UK government did assessments earlier this year on having a Digital ID system and suggested that there was no conclusive evidence that it would help reduce illegal working and immigration and other countries which implemented a similar system had mixed results. Starmer is just shitting out anything at this point to stop Farage and members of his own party from fucking him in the ass.

There are already laws and rules for when people hire workers, the people who break those laws will continue to do so. We already have national insurance cards which everyone is given when they become working age and is required to gain employment, etc. This is a blatant attempt to implement a Chinese style social credit system over here, where you will be banned and de-banked if you disagree with Keir Starling. At this point I might have to apply as a political refugee to our American cousins.

Just a reminder, unless you're British or maybe Canadian you don't need to call someone 'Sir'. It's a title, not a part of his name. I think it's rather ridiculous to call someone Sir like that unless you're part of the British realm.

In school we'd address teachers as sir or miss.

We'd never say "hello boss" or "Mr [First Name]"

He is going to lose the next election severely so he is trying to enact as much draconian garbage as he can.

Here in the Netherlands we've got a single, nationwide digital ID (DigiD) and it's pretty useful if you want to interact with the local or national government, health insurers, etc.

I buy off Amazon all the time, and what i do buy follows me onto my Facebook, although i don't post anymore on there, i'm pretty sure they know who i am anyway, but their reasons they state are never the real ones.

If Blair couldn't get it done I highly doubt this fucking idiot can.

hopefully this shit gets more people to never vote for them again.

Right? It's like they're going out of their way to burn bridges with the populace.

Yeah I am not quite sure what people are specifically afraid of that isn't already a reality.

That is completely pointless, won't do anything they claim it will, will cost a fuck load, will cost a fuck load more once it's hacked and will be used to oppress the citizens not the invaders.

Those are voluntary. This isn't. And no one wants it.
Being tracked in the digital age is pretty much a given unless you go completely off the grid but then this wouldn't affect you either if you did that.
I can see the argument that this is pointless bureaucracy though.

HE won't be labour leader by the next election unfortunately he is currently playing a game of chess getting certain people into positions where only certain people will vote for them ensuring a labour majority still.

The 16 year old votes - kids indoctrinated at school etc.

Governments are fucking great at pissing money up a wall, into the wind and down everyone's pants.

'Member Our Lord, Clean Energy Saviour and potential future Labour leader Andy Burnham's Clean Air Zone program?

What about over in Canada with its temporary digital-ID good jab citizen tracker that restricted people's movements.

It also estimated the final cost of the app to be C$59.5m, but said it was impossible to know the final cost due to bad management.

Ooopsy.

They won't get this up and running and all it does is give Reform more ammo.

This lot truly are thick as mince.
See I was thinking this but these fuckers are the most devious of rats, truly..

They know this is one of the most contentious things possible, yet here we are. Keir knows he and Labour are fucked, and any other party will be against it. He surely knows it may not go through either..

So why?

Alternatively, they'll row back on it once the actual bad news that they want to bury has passed.

It's the labour party conference next week. Announcing this, a guaranteed to be unpopular item, right now, is a choice for them.

It means that when the media descend on the conference, they'll all have questions about ID cards and maybe not the thing that the party really don't want to talk about. Not sure what that might be, but it doesn't make sense to mire their conference in bad news when it's an opportunity to make good headlines, promote a positive view of the party, etc. Etc.

Like Mr Reasonable Mr Reasonable say's its a poor attempt at deflection. Probably trying to bury the McSweeney thing once and for all or something juicier that's not come to light yet.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering 🤔

The McSweeney thing is actually enough to finish him off completely. Infact, I think you've hit the nail on the head..

Definitely trying to Bury it.

Can you actually believe the absolute shit show these clowns have been though? Pure and utter filth all round..

Just abhorrent on every known level. And that's before rapey Labour held seats..

Unreal.

Back on topic, I don't see how this is workable or what good it would do. People who work illegally will continue to do so and even if they did catch a few without ID's we still can't get rid of them anyway.

What's the deportation count this week on the one in one out rule? 4? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

How are UK's OF creators doing? Trump should definitely carve out immigration allowances for OF whores.
If I was a world leader this is the first thing I would do in my country.

You want to claim asylum from your country's draconian laws? You're welcome here anytime but only if you have at least DDs.

Maybe print digital ID on titties. I'd be more welcoming to the idea then.
