[UK] Digital ID to be compulsory for all UK adults under government plans

Between this and the Online Safety Act they are inching us closer and closer towards China.

I'm not a fan of Reform either, I think they are a terrible Pro-Russian party with many of members racist, but this stuff Lab pulling is completely over-stepping the mark and setup to go further.

Fully expect them to try control VPN's at some point.

Impossible to control VPN's thankfully. They could make using one illegal without a licence I guess but good luck enforcing that.

I doubt they can, but it won't stop them trying.
the Online Safety Act itself is largely, almost entirely useless, as on Opera and lit just click "VPN" on the right bar.

It means connection is crippled, or pay more $$$ during a time when Britain is being squeezed dry - ultimately just being an annoyance.

Pretty much anyone could set up their own VPN fairly easily. Its un-policeable.

Not to mention most large companies rely on them.

Another issue, noticed a few sites, just won't bother dealing with the legal stuff at all, and auto-blocked the UK from visiting. Essentially, a China like Firewall for parts of the net, regardless of age, unless use a VPN.

It's a joke, as we all know.

I've used a VPN installed on my home router and on my devices that leave the home for years so it doesn't affect me, but yeah its utter bullshit.

Things like BankID work well elsewhere in Europe. In principal I see the value in such a scheme.

But...

Government is completely incapable of delivering an sort of large IT project. They'll outsource it to the cheapest bidder, probably a company outside the UK. It'll get hacked in a week and god knows where our data will end up.

Additionally, I do not trust this government or any other not to abuse such power to silence dissent and control people.

So as a UK resident I just signed the petition against it.

Be a lot cheaper to send the SAS over to slit the throats of the people smugglers during the night, than roll out an ID system that will only harm the masses.

If it was the real reason they wanted to bring this in then you'd have a point.

Everyone would need digital ID, yes even your 90 year old grandma who struggles to turn on the TV, never mind a smart phone.
Never fear, im sure some smart young person from a distant land would be more than happy to vote on her behalf.

I would be more accepting of a digital ID if the government didnt have a HORRENDOUS track record of piss poor security, accountability, and transparency about how information is used.

Irony about digital IDs is that illegals, who are without any sort of IDs, are given free accommodation, money, health service, free education.

And free taxis to things like Doctors appointments. The elderly don't get them but the newcomers do. Also the Home office doesn't know how much the taxis have been costing the successive governments as they don't track it.

Don't know much about British politics, but who in the ever loving hell are the ones coming up with all these hair brained schemes?

Guys…..

This is just awful. If it had been hundreds of thousands white Britons marrying their cousins, then the NHS would immediately warn about the risks and call for a ban. But this happens in Asian families, so they'll keep silent even though the results of generations long inbreeding have severely Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities (and are a burden on the NHS).

The UK needs someone in charge to reverse all this.
I'll do it.

Ill keep the hormone ban thing but immigration stopped completely until shit is sorted out
Get farmers sorted with whatever they need to get back on track
Create a law that no employer can sack an employee for being cheeky to a customer if the customer is being cheeky in the first place (I got your back call centre bros and sisters)
4 day work weeks become mandatory (unless in emergency services etc) with no loss of salary

And for shits and giggles all MPs who lied get put in stocks for people to throw shit at.

That is gross but think of what lies behind: the AGE of the female cousin. Coming next: "according to science, it's healthy that grown men marry underage little girls".

I can't handle this shit anymore. Bare fucking drooling simpleton monstrosities in our midst and the NHS has a go at me for having an occasional alcoholic drink.

Enough is enough.

NHS comes out in support of inbreeding, dang I didn't have that one on my bingo card.
Undoubtedly trying to bring back the genetic perfection of the old royals blueblood lines, they really churned out some winners back in the day.

I didn't actually realise that first cousin marriage was legal - it turns out it is in a bunch of places, including parts of the USA (18 states) and Europe. Norway banned it last year and Sweden and Denmark are debating doing the same.

It does seem to be a cultural thing - fewer than 1% of white British couples are first cousins versus a study of 13,500 families in Bradford (north England) where 37% of couples of Pakistani heritage were first cousins.

Putting aside my political bias, which assumes that the reason this is getting traction is because it's brown people that we're talking about and right wing people are the ones driving the conversation, I'm surprised, as I said, that it's not illegal already and also that significant numbers of people need to be told it's taboo. Apparently 77% of Britons want it outlawed (rising to 82% among reform voters).

I wonder what it's like being in a relationship and knowing that essentially everyone you meet disapproves. I presume most of them keep it to themselves where possible.

Either way, fuck knows why the health service is trying to find ways to say it's not so bad.

They live on an island. Nuff said.

Everything this country does is for outside groups.

Digital ID - because we have too many foriegn born people living here there's now a need to have digital ID
Increase taxes to record highs - so we can pay for illegal criminal migrants in hotels, foreign aid, throw tens of billions more at the NHS which is struggling with excess demand for services due to the large population increase etc to name a few
Building houses - because the population is booming due to immigration, in 2024 births vs deaths meant the UK population grew by about 17k, the other 700-800k all came from net legal migration.
No free speech, hate speech laws, incoming blasphemy laws - to protect minority groups (mainly muslims)
Normalising 1st cousin marriage - for pakistanis

I write this as a brown Brit (ethnically Indian).

This country has become an absolute joke and should serve as a warning to other developed nations just how quickly things can become dire.

There's still time to salvage something with the right government in power, along with a big social shift to the right. But time is running out.

Thank god you said. We never knew that.

I have an idea, let's take all of the people here in the U.S. that hate us (Ruslims), send them to the U.K., and we will bring all of you here. Pretty sure that is a fair trade and everyone will be happy. Dearborn and St. Paul/Minneapolis would be much better off. Just saying.

The worst part about the online safety act is it's self defeating....
The ones who will adhere to the policy and set up an age rating etc. will be the bigger well known sites
But the sites that won't be setting these up are the smaller ones with some having questionable/illegal content on them

So what will people do if they really want to watch porn but don't/can't verify their age? they'll go to these dodgy smaller sites with much worse content on them

The Online Safety Act is not about porn and digital IDs is not about immigration. It's about control. I have heard about 50 times that we shouldn't complain because France has more illegal immigration. Basically the go to comment from Labour. Well, they have ID cards.

There not many of us just willing to hand over our country, but thanks for the offer.

UK is just speed running its demise now. Release the brakes and stomp on the peddle.

Nearly ~$91B exiting the country this year, almost as much as China, India and South Korea combined.
