Leaker Claims PlayStation 6 Is Targeting 2027

KeplerL2, known for accurate AMD leaks, said in a thread on the popular gaming forum NeoGAF, that 2027 isn't just being discussed, it's Sony's current plan for the PlayStation 6 release, unless major delays happen.

Replying to a comment that said the PlayStation 6 releasing in 2027 "is on the table," Kepler replied, "Not just on the table, it's the plan unless any unexpected delays happen."

@KeplerL2 you got mention. Nice work.

IbizaPocholo IbizaPocholo can you update the OP with this?

So we're using a website that uses Neogaf as a source to talk about something one of our very own posters posted here?

what the fuck GIF

lol FK OFF Sony.
Feels like devs haven't even started to push the PS5 limits yet.

Wouldn't surprise me now MS has cucked out, Sony will try and further close the gap between gens going forward. PS7 in 2032!

I'm triggered by this image:

If Sony keeps using that god awful PS3Poor typeface for PS6 I'm going to punch someone!
Edit: wow, I just realized that since modern browsers don't show the alt text of an image the web had to implement a button to see the hidden second punch line. I'm twenty million years old already...

I use to think it was way too early.

But doesn't look like sony care much about ps5 passing ps4 in sales.

The whole generational divide is becoming less important especially with users sticking longer to older gens.

Try to further close the gap? What?

USA release dates:
PS1 - September 1995
PS2 - October 2000 (5 years later)
PS3 - November 2006 (6 years later)
PS4 - November 2013 (7 years later)
PS5 - November 2020 (7 years later)
PS6 - late 2027 (7 years later)

Please tell me how this is anything different. I also wanted it to release in 2028...but guess what? You don't need to buy consoles day one. Also if it released in 2028 that would've been the outliner (8 year gap)...not releasing in 2027.

You haven't missed much. The best exclusive games released on the PS5 so far are still the launch title Demon's Souls Remaster and Returnal.
Returnal isn't exclusive or even that good

Maybe that's down to the controller. Felt better on Ps5. On pc it just feels a bit meh.

So glad I skipped this generation altogether.

*if true

As someone who has been gaming since 1989, I've always played something from each generation.

I'm curious about what one does when skipping a generation of gaming. Do you just simply not playing anything exclusive to the generation, like a PS5 only title? What if they are cross-gen releases, do you not play those titles? Honest question because I see people say what you said from time to time that they skip x console / generation.

I'd find it hard to go 6-7 years without touching certain games in such a large timeframe. Curious!

every gen should be min 10 years. Even more so if the console is going to be so expensive with so little performance jumps. There is really no reason to rush the end of the ps5.

Seems too early to me. They release the new PSSR in 2026 and in 2027 the ps6? Weird. I'm mean so fast?

Don't think it's that bad. If the new update is within the first 2 quarters into 2026. You have all the way until end of 2027 before PS6 launches. That's a pretty big gap still.

I don't think I've played any PS5 exclusive titles no. The ones that do have my interest (such as Stellar Blade for instance) seem to eventually make their way to PC anyway.

Played a good amount of Returnal on PC as well so zero reason to own a PS5 for that either. Same goes for Helldivers 2 and (many) other games. Most of the sequels have been ass, from what I've heard anyway, so I have no interest in Ragnarok, Spiderman 2, Last of Us 2, etc.

I will say the Demon's Souls remake is something I want to play but not buying an entire console for one game.

Hopefully I get a good few games between now and 2027 to play on my ps5 pro.

I imagine the ps5 pro will do me well into the PS6 gen though.

Okay got it. So it's more about not touching the Console hardware this generation, not so much the software part of it since you play them on PC when they arrive there.

If someone criticizes a product, you shouldn't put the blame back on the customers, I mean what the hell.
I blamed the customer? I just said the no one force them to buy it. Apple should stop to release new iPhone early because they hurt the owners of the previous model? And compare it to a defective dangerous product is really idiotic.

Sony's has super sampling aspirations for next gen, we're just getting the feature early as a stop-gap while they improve it. Base PS5 doesn't have this, but base PS6 will pack it as standard kit.

It's obviously the release date that makes most sense to target.
In any case PS5 isn't going away for a long time and with hardware prices rising I don't think they're targeting to migrate the userbase super quickly on the PS6.
It's the ecosystem strategy with its pros and cons, it might even make sense to stick with a PS5 Pro until a PS6 Pro, it will depend on the innovations introduced.

You could say that about any product. But come on lets use this, Sony really dropped the ball when it came to first-party titles for the Vita. No one forced people to buy it, sure, but that doesn't mean it's not Sony's problem. What the hell.

So consoles are phones now? Interesting.

Talking ablut stupid comparisons, everyone knows apple is going to release a new phone every year.
