How does the real 2026 compare to 1927’s 2026?

Yeah you have to wonder.

They invisioned amazing things like green deserts, clean ocean water, unpaid energy, anti gravity crafts, teleportation just a golden age.

I would imagine that in another 8-10 months that 2026 will be indistinguishable from 2025, in some ways even worse. 2025 was indistinguishable from 2016, if you ask me. Yeah sure, there are a few minor tech innovations. But very little has really changed over the last decade and a half. Aside from the increase in homeless camps, that is...

Flying cars? There are a few attempts at drone styled flying cars.

For a movie from 1927, I am impressed with how many extras the film makers managed to get into a single shot together. Modern $400 million dollar budget movies generally don't have this many people in a scene all at once.

Maybe it was the producers' family... Back then, there were 10 children in every family 🤔

I think the 50 second video wasn't that bad of a prediction. My first take was they made a better prediction of the long term future than back to the future 2 did for the short to medium term. :messenger_grinning:

I wish things were more clean and less trashy/run down. That's my takeaway from the 1927 concepts.

You'd need a way to drill personal responsibility into people though, which seems almost impossible.

i watched this few years ago, i got goosebumps, it's kind of b/w horrow, but yeah, the film is awesome <3
especially if You watch behind the scene

Not that bad of a prediction.

But one thing any media does when they project into the future is that metros will have tons of flying cars zooming around like good 'ol gravity based cars and trucks are obsolete.

There's a big reason why most airports are out of the way from buildings and dense population. It's called spiraling down due to a bad engine and exploding into masses of people. Death from above isnt the kind of thing city planners take lightly.

Future takes often go into two views too. Either that apocalyptic grungy world of Mad Max or haves and have nots, or the ultra clean utopia where everyone is rich and every street is spic and span.

I thought so as well.
I live in south east Asia, which is know of bad traffic wrongdoers.
Just, try to imagine how many people fall into people roof if there is any mainstream flying vehicles?
Imagine engine fails because of low attention maintenance and causing "sky accident"
As if bad shofer video is not scary already, imagine now there is "sky bad shofer" videos : ))

Another thing about flying vehicles too.

Notice how no tv show or movie shows how they even park them? Kind of pointless if they are parked on the ground every time taking up space. The roads are supposed to be crammed with old school cars or people walking everywhere. So flying cars zigzagging through skyscrapers park by floating in the air forever?
