Masters of The Universe | Official Teaser Trailer

It looks so ass. Movies don't look like movies anymore. CGI-slop at its finest. Every background, every camera angle, every explosion effect, I've seen countless times in Marvel movies. "Hey ChatGBT, make a He-Man Masters of the Universe movie that looks like a Marvel movie", that's how it looks.

Stranger Things did it better (Thor as well).

Also possible it serves some purpose in creating the name "He-man", like Man-at-Arms sees it when retrieving Adam and that becomes the origin of He-Man the name, something like that.

So I think it is most definitely a joke about the name He-man, not social commentary about pronouns.
The bolded would be even more cringe, honestly. Co-opting and retconning more weight into the pronoun lunacy.

Just let it be a silly joke. A flat one, but one nonetheless.

I'm convinced now that these repetitive CGI shots we see across films are because the overworked CG studios are somehow reusing assets to save time/money.

The "monster roars in my face" shot is another one.

Gruff Idris Elba voice: "Why does it say 'he/him' under your name. It's it obvious that you are a man?"

Whiney Adam voice: "Well in our culture we can not always determine a persons gender merely by their external appearance."

Gruff Idris. "Well then, rip off your shirt and leave no doubts, He-man."

Whiney Adam transitioning into deep Adam voice: "I.........HAVE........THE.....PPOOWWEERR!!!!!"

how does this look good to any one
Because people have accepted slop and will use the complacency line "Well it's not as bad as x" to justify it.

We are in a time when movies and shows should be top notch. Almost no one needs to invent technology to put something basic on screen, but it seems that because things don't need to be invented, then the lack of care to do good is gone too.

It's no wonder the AI bros are thinking that AI is coming for the movie industry. Why shouldn't it. Almost every shot in this trailer, along with the music, is so generic that an AI trained on past entertainment would have little problem repeating it.

Cinema has always been full of cloning existing shit. Fuck, Italy made an industry out of it Spaghetti James Bond, Spaghetti Horror, Spaghetti Western, much of it slop, but most of those movies were never top billed releases. I'm not saying He Man is an expected top billing product, but it's certainly not bargain basement stuff, and probably has a budget that would make most creator's eyes water with envy.

This is the kind of stuff that prove us, old farts, to be right when we say that everything is worse now. It's so wrong in so many levels. Not that the 80s movie is a marvel but we hadn't CGI back then. XX century shots where unavoidable without skyrocketing the budget. This is just "kids need to feel related to this guy, let's send him to our present and make a bunch of references". God, how much I hate this.

Skeletor looks cool, tho.

It does look like ass. Pure CGI overload that just looks like a poor version of Marvel's Thor films.

Slight off topic, but I watched Fellowship of the Ring last week and that film still looks incredible. Why? Because it wasn't all CGI. It was a mix of CGI, shooting on location and practical effects, including amazing use of miniatures. Old school film techniques that still work and should be used more, rather than just shooting the film on a soulless green screen.

This film already looks dated and has flop written all over it.

Another guardian of galaxy.

Men just look like pussy nowdays.

That's my He-Man*

It looks alright. I'll give it a chance. Nice Skeletor too.

That said, I'm more hyped for the upcoming videogame since the style seems closer to the cartoon.

Essentially a 2010s Sony movie, down to the fact that there's a chance we might spend 70% of the movie in the real world area instead of He-Man's.

people out here thinking it was possible to not make a pronoun joke in a fucking He-Man movie?

imagine the wasted potential that would have been!

the fucking name He-Man in itself of a god damn pronoun joke! so is She-Ra...

I know a lot of people are freaking out about this, and I am as conservative as they come, but this is clearly sarcasm/tongue in cheek. He is literally being lectured by a black HR lady in the next scene.
about spending time on the internet looking for swords and being a nerd, apparently.

Yes, that much is obvious, dunno what people here get angry about. Guy working in a sterile corporate environment that checks all the politically correct boxes, thus fostering his desire to escape into adventure.

Movie looks pretty bland and generic otherwise, but the pronouns / black lady boss part is a cheeky subversion of modern tropes at least.

This looks fun enough for a watch. Some of you are looking way toooo deep into a He Man movie.

I'm curious how Skeletor is going to sound though as they didn't give his voice away yet.

And that, as any 2010s Sony movie, is going to bomb so hard the PS6 gets delayed another year.
At least they might avoid a big blue CGI effect/beam in a big city if the last act takes place outside of the real world...unless they bring the final fight back to the real world like the Dark Tower movie.

Oh god, that movie.

By the way the big blue CGI beam is there. It just hits Greyskull.

They won't do it because Hollywood execs would take it personally.
