Actually, the opposite .. I expected less jump myself. This doesnt Sound good
Doubt the jump ist going to be that noticeable. Obviously more so If you own a base PS5.30GB sounds like it should provide a pretty good jump.
It should run entire PS5/PS6 libraries or there is no point in releasing it.And Canis is capable of to run PS6 games or mostly PS5 games/PS6 games on PS5 niveau?
I'm an optimist.Doubt the jump ist going to be that noticeable. Obviously more so If you own a base PS5.
Not seeing a point to upgrade from my Pro.
It's more of a "we need 500 developers working for 10 years to make this" than a technology issue at this point.I'm an optimist.
I was hoping PS5 would have expanded on creating living worlds like RDR2 and Days Gone. GTAVI likely will. More RAM will give more chance of it happening next-gen.

Unless you're ok with A.I Slop creating endless worldsIt's more of a "we need 500 developers working for 10 years to make this" than a technology issue at this point.
But they have customized the hardware but it's just not being wasted on just a console because the work becomes part of future GPU designs.bring back exotic custom hardware, this trend of new consoles with 30% better performance over the last ones is bullshit. I miss proper generational leaps

I expect they can build it iteratively, improving the engine to handle more with each new release. It's more of a "we need 500 developers working for 10 years to make this" than a technology issue at this point.
Pretty much. If we ignore the raw power necessary to run something like RDR 2 in 4k/60fps we already had the technology over a decade ago. It's more of a "we need 500 developers working for 10 years to make this" than a technology issue at this point.
You're not "getting a deal" with Nintendo—you're overpaying for cheaper hardware wrapped in nostalgia. Meanwhile, Sony consistently delivers better value: stronger tech, broader features, and hardware that actually reflects the price you're paying. One company sells you premium engineering, the other sells you the bare minimum with a smile. It's funny how much hate Nintendo's hardware gets on this forum, when that's all you people will be able to afford next generation lol.
I'd rather have some games than stronger tech. You're not "getting a deal" with Nintendo—you're overpaying for cheaper hardware wrapped in nostalgia. Going to be much worse "next-gen" cause a lot of big budget AAA games are likely going to opt for full path tracing which is exponentially more expensive than the halfass heavily downgraded RT features PS5 games use.True, but I do blame the doubling of FPS and use of Ray-Tracing for why we didn't get a huge jump this gen.
This will enable a cost savings of sort as, with the PS4 and Switch 1 being left finally behind, consoles will be able to deal with an RT minimum based GI solution like Indiana Jones and DOOM: The Dark Ages (PS5 supports it will, Switch 2 is getting both this year and we will see how lighting works there)… which reduces the complexity and simplified iterations for people designing and building the game.Going to be much worse "next-gen" cause a lot of big budget AAA games are likely going to opt for full path tracing which is exponentially more expensive than the halfass heavily downgraded RT features PS5 games use.
If it's $350 then yeah, but it's not going to be that.
Subjective, also not the discussion here.I'd rather have some games than stronger tech.
This is likely true but honestly when they do you will get a bigger noticeable jump than the way we used the PS4 to PS5 jump, which was mostly spent on doubling framerate and upping resolution with a sprinkle of other improvements. People then go on to simultaneously shit on that jump and sing about the importance of 60fps.Going to be much worse "next-gen" cause a lot of big budget AAA games are likely going to opt for full path tracing which is exponentially more expensive than the halfass heavily downgraded RT features PS5 games use.
what they gonna Remaster ?? PS4 games again?? cause PS5 is emptythat's a lot of GBs for remasters

but seriously, I prefer consoles push for power over hitting a price point
Mark Cerny already hinted at that during this video. Timestamped.
Also, for the guys calling out the limited bandwidth, please remember PS6 will not be designed to render most games at 4K native, that would just be wasted resources when RDNA 4+ can provide amazing 1440p - 4K upscaling. Shoot, I bet it can even give great results scaling from 1080p to 4K.
they dont have any other option, launching above 600 is a disaster waiting to happen. Unlike the PS3 era you cant really recover from a disastrous launch the same way, all Im saying is that they have enough cushion to take the blowMaybe even 599$ if the are prepared to lose a good chunk of money on every unit for 1-2 years.
.See you holiday of 2030.
? when did they damp expectations.
With Sony damping expectations already about when to expect PS6 I will say the same.
Actually, it will be the strongest home console available. Stronger than 90% of steam users or even 95%Another weak home console.
Today Devs has lot of RAM and TERAFLOPs, looks the games, FSR and PSSR is a shame, many games with poor performance, terrible IQ, I remember when all devs blames PS3 for that, but today what the problem??? the game still runs poorly and has bugs low resolutionsIt does show how some people just want to shit on something without rhyme or reason, three pages sprayed with people trolling and shitting things up… the OP was just about the RAM specs of PS6 which would not even double the RAM compared to PS5 and it would be the smallest memory increase generation over generation(hint AI loves a LOT of memory, 8 GB might just be the AI tax and if so you would have zero growth at 24 GB for PS6 games over PS5… 30 GB of RAM is the bare minimum… I think this kind of forum dweller would have argued for 256 MB of RAM for the Xbox 360
… aka devs are asking for more than 16-24 GB like they were asking for more than 256 MB).
It was not a chest thumping post talking about how PS6 destroys the competition and yet… sigh![]()
How does your point contradict mine? It's still much weaker than any high end grahics card released over the last few years and I doubt the ps6 will cost $500.Actually, it will be the strongest home console available. Stronger than 90% of steam users or even 95%
Hell .. OG PS5 is stronger than 70% of Steam users
Yes. And so with actual decent bandwidth in Magnus you'll be able to do a lot more. This thing better be cheap.RDNA5 will use that bandwidth more efficiently.
Its still stronger than majority of ALL PCs, what makes your point more valid? How does your point contradict mine? It's still much weaker than any high end grahics card released over the last few years and I doubt the ps6 will cost $500.
If those leaked specs prove to be true 30 vs optimum 32gigs of vram wont matter that much, bandwith reduction and overall powerdraw tho points out directly to a mashine with tons of compromises, not wii lvl of compromises(aka weaksauce) but i think something akin to gcn while its still next gen jump but with performance not being priority anymore- small form factor/ downgrade in bandwith and powerdraw.
Maybe all those measures are taken in order for ps6 to still be somewhat affordable (800$ discless), which is totally understandable since base console ideal target is well over 100m units, for sony its crucial to go mainstream(weak&cheap).
Looks like next gen we wont even get proper 3x raster perf jump coz 9070xt is measly +151% jump, hell even if ps6 is as strong as rtx 5080, thats barely + 200% jump.
We all know base ps4 to base ps5 was the smallest jump yet and that still was 1,8tf vs 10,2tf so not even 6x jump(newer archi, more features so lets round it up to full 6x), with that knowledge we can safely assume base ps5 to base ps6 will be at most 3x jump in raster, so half of what we got this gen which already was pretty pitiful
Here proof so u can see where ps5 gpu stacks vs other modern and not so modern gpus:

nah 1299.I can see NVIDIA releasing 6080 for $1500 with 24gb in 2028. They will do that. We know It.
PS5 is still stronger than the hardware of most people using Steam and will be 6 years this year but okay.Another weak home console.
How about quote me and point out where specifically i was wrong then?
I agree with your points, but the base model can't be $800 to have a chance of succeeding. The hardware needs to be put into as many hands as possible, and making it more than the Pro doesn't make sense as they'll be losing too many sales. Releasing a Pro close to the base, or even at the same time might be an option but the PS6 will be delayed further if they can't target $600.If those leaked specs prove to be true 30 vs optimum 32gigs of vram wont matter that much, bandwith reduction and overall powerdraw tho points out directly to a mashine with tons of compromises, not wii lvl of compromises(aka weaksauce) but i think something akin to gcn while its still next gen jump but with performance not being priority anymore- small form factor/ downgrade in bandwith and powerdraw.

High end gpus released in 2022 will be more powerful than a console that will last until 2035. I expected a bit more than 2x Ram and x3gpu..Its still stronger than majority of ALL PCs, what makes your point more valid?
Apparently what you are asking is impossible, even RTX60xx or Titan wont have what you asking for .. and both will be in the thousands $$$High end gpus released in 2022 will be more powerful than a console that will last until 2035. I expected a bit more than 2x Ram and x3gpu..
Prediction: Next gen will start in 2028 and this is what they will be doing:
PS6 (home console) - 600€
PS6 Portable (play natively everything the PS6 can play) - 400€
PS6 Portal (they won't name it PS2 Portal...they will keep the 6 for this one since people already know what Portal stands for) - 200€
Keeping the naming simple and clear, like they have always done.
3 different entry points for their ecosystem for different prices.
