Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

So um assuming early zombies on Raccoon are bullet sponges because Leon lacks upgrades? Is that correct?
28y burried made them have a dirt shield.

No. They never are with Leon. Even if they were, you melee against a wall and then axe them and good night.

Well at least with early weapons they are.

On mansion you could easily knee shot and go for melee.

With these ones on Raccoon, when you knee shot them they barely drop for melee attacks.

Is there a way to know what collectibles I missed and an easy way to find them?
You can find a document that shows all Raccoon statue locations pre-Raccoon City and buy the one for Raccoon City (and first if you missed it I believe) from the unlockables menu. For documents just sort them in order and search better when you re-locate the one(s) around it.

Alternatively just google a collectibles location guide and go down the list.

The enemies in the care center are weak to leon because they are tuned for grace, they don't change suddenly because now you're controlling leon; the enemies in raccoon city are tuned for leon, but they still don't really require upgrades.

Does anyone know if the time clock still counts when the game is paused. In regards to the beating it in 4 hours.

FINALLY I finish care center as Grace in insanity difficulty.......holly fuck that was difficult.

Killing the Chunk gives you charm that lets you survive lethal kill and save my ass sooooooo much.

Playing insanity difficulty makes love this game even more.

Leon has to be a more beloved RE character than Chris Redfield at this point doesn't he? I know Chris was the OG but Leon has more personality, has been in more great RE games. Maybe I'll make a poll thread on it later but I wonder what RE fans think of this. Leon to me has become the face of resident evil.

To be honest Chris needs his own game again. His fan fare has dropped since the original. I think 10 should be about Chris and Jill.

I feel like they did him dirty on RE7&8. Leon other hand have been pretty good in most game he was in.

If Leon's look changed as much as Chris' his fanbase would prob be diminished as well. I'm Chris main all the way cause I'm an OG fan. Can't wait for RE 1. Maybe RE 1 remake will make the poll close. For now, I think Leon would win cause of RE 4 and Remake and now this game.

Done with my Insanity run. First 1-2 hours with Grace was by far the hardest. Once you get the 30x handgun ammo recipe it becomes much more manageable. Still not easy of course, but doing the speedrun challenge first taught me how to set up optimal paths through the Care Center before Leon can clean up the halls later.
All in all, I had a lot of fun with this game. Hope Capcom puts out a VR update so that I can have an excuse to double dip on the PS5 version.

I understand what you are saying, and it makes total sense, but Im doing like 2-3 shots in the knees and they dont drop.

They get semi stunned, I have to L1+R2 them and hope they get bounced on a wall for the melee prompt to appear.

I dunno man, I might be in the minority here, but I'm finding the game… pretty mediocre so far.

Even the heavily hyped graphics look underwhelming at times. And what's going on with Leon's axe animations? They look really stiff and unnatural, almost like a stop-motion character.

Honestly, Resident Evil 4 >>>> Resident Evil 9 in my opinion — and it's not even close.

Just got to the underground lab as Grace. Daaaaamn, after everything I've seen so far - easily the best RE after RE4R and it makes you wonder why they even bothered with 7 and especially 8 and made them the way they are - the weakest games in the modern RE era, hands down. I also don't get why they showed the game the way they did before 2026 and right before release, cuz it left a very bad impression two times (Grace's gameplay) and made the game look like nothing we ended up getting on release. If it was their strategy all along... Well, it was a really bad one.

I won't describe every single thing based on what I've seen after the first few hours and just say this - Grace's gameplay is nothing like they showed before release and instead it's RE at its best with some very light hide and seek sections. And Leon... I can't tell enough how satisfying it is to go through the care center after Grace and just slaughter everything on sight effortlessly while saying - "Uh, get the FUCK out of my way!". Leon can't even save and use storage cuz he already has gigantic inventory and even though you can die when there's a lot of mutated and extremely fast zombies around as well as regular ones, there's a checkpoint right before the fight so... yeah, Leon don't need saves.

Idk how much of the game is left, but I'm going back to see what's next. It sure looks like there's A LOT of history between Leon and Sherry we just don't know about, and there's no mention of Claire so far (at the end of RE2 they were all together) but they clearly been through a lot and somehow got infected in the process. Idk if we'll know more about all this further in the game, but if not, I can't say enough how much excited I am about RE5 and RE6 remakes right now. RE7 and RE8 said fuck all bout Leon & Co. and they're clearly separate games from the main series, so hopefully RE5-6R will show what Leon, Claire and Sherry did after RE2 cuz for now there's very huge and empty gap story-wise between RE2R and RE4R even, and RE9 just made it even bigger and more empty.

I'm playing on the latest difficulty available before NG+ and trying not to use Ink ribbons almost at all - saved probably 4 times in total so far.

Do you know that RE has more characters than Leon right ?

Also if you wanna know what Claire did after RE2 go play CV.

RE5 is about Chris and his nemesis and RE6 is about whatever, never played that shit.

Finished, second half of the game was just ok, i would score a 7-7,5 but i use the whole scale not just 7 to 10.

Story was big ball of nothing and badly stitched together, but still more interesting than 6,7 or 8.

Curious to read the spoiler topic now.

I honestly didn't shoot a single enemy in the legs for the entire game, just head shots, melee to make them fall down and axe decapitation.

He probably is. He was my favorite in the original RE2 but none of is subsequent appearances, including the REmake, have felt like the same character outside of RE6 so not so much anymore. I suppose in this soft reboot era that we're in my favorite is probably REmake Claire. Which is funny since I hated her in the original series.

Chris has always been a bit of a mess. They gutted his original personality early on with only his RE5 version being in the same ballpark really.

I dont want to even get into the utter travesty that is Jill post RE3: Nemesis

Modders always doing God's work. Shoulder swap mod. Amazing for Grace when you're sneaking around and handy for Leon as well. https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevilrequiem/mods/445?tab=description

This is why I love pc. There's always a solution to your problem. I am replaying Requiem for a second time and I am using a mod that removes the default crosshair for a dot and it really helps to feel more immersed when shooting enemies.

Edit: talking about mods, there is this new mod that adds extra fog and makes RC darker. I need to try because it seems like they feedback is actually positive. I dont understand why Capcom didn't make Raccoon City darker, nighttime would've been better imo

That motorbike section was hilarious. Just reached the part with an old foe in RPD. I'd say the most difficult section of the game so far for me was the part with those rocket firing undead.

Man that cutscene where Leon sees the BSAA vs Zeno footage, with Zeno cleaning up the floor.

Zeno feels like Ocelot's Capcom.

I bought it yesterday and after about two hours I had to hit the hay. I'm honestly very surprised in a negative way. I expected to love it but a lot about this isn't working for me at all and the pacing of the whole opening feels like it never gets out of second gear. I particularly hate Grace's "wet sack of cement on ice skates" movement, forced slips, falls, constant whining. Taking control away from me and making the character slip and slide particularly isn't creating a sense of dread, it's simply irritating as hell and feels too transparently artificial to me.

Leon segments have been cool but feel like hey, we're finally picking up the pace for four minutes, and then slamming the car back into second while on the highway. The reason I even bring it up is because all my favorite RE titles have me balls fucking deep in great pacing by the second hour. This feels like I'm in a herky-jerky tutorial still?

I need to give it more time and I'm certainly not just shit talking, I bought the game after all, but I'm really surprised by how little I like it so far.

Yeah, that's the next one I am installing. Silent Hill vibes. Thanks for the heads up on the dot reticle one. It's nice.

My wife wanted to play this. She has absolutely zero experience of horror games whatsoever, never watched me play any of them, she asked if it was scary and I said no.

First zombie she sees and shes freaking out lmao... I guess we as long term gamers are completely desensitized to horror aspects of games. Like nothing scares me anymore basically, but I realise by her reaction that normies are scared quite easily. She was literally shaking when crawling around the first girl encounter.

If I wasn't spoiled by the marketing, I would be a lot, LOT more tense and stressed in the first encounter segment with the Girl.

My girlfriend is the same, she has to cover her eyes whenever there's a close-up of a monster on the screen 😂

Man am I tripping or its like Leon's face model has two rendering qualities?

When youre inside buildings or tents his face looks way better than when you walk around exterior Raccoon City, which has his face looking, I dont know, more flat?

Im assuming its something light related?

Same thing with his hair. Looks way less detailed when on exterior Raccoon.

No you are not, I play on ps5 pro and leon looks like a retard sometimes.

I didn't realize the different outcomes you can do in this game. Watched a video of it. There's a way you can get one of the zombies to kill chunk for you. There's also a way not to alert the stalker and get the screwdriver without being found by the stalker. Pretty cool eh.

Yep many such cases.

I found a few of them by pure luck too, I threw a bottle to distract a zombie blocking the raccoon in the cupboard and the blind zombie came flaying in and caved his skull in for me. Hilarious, there is even a trophy that popped for it.

That zombie in particular is a highlight of this game, he caught me off guard a few times.

Its the lighting not the character model. Unless you have pathtracing, you'll see situations where the character models will look weird

Same. Im also on Pro and diference between the scenarios I mentioned is quite noticeable.

Seems like RE engine cuts around corners when handling more light intensed scenarios.

finished my first run last night. Solid 9.5 game for me. 7 and 9 are interchangeable for my favorite RE games with 2 being close.

glad it didn't have the drop off in the second half like 8 had.

It's the limitation of RTGI. For performance reasons, they usually set a limit to how far indirect bounces can go and how many bounces occur. And in an open area lit only by the sun, most indirect bounces never reach Leon. For Ghost of Yotei, for example, RTGI was limited to just one bounce and a few feet in the distance, so the effect is more pronounced only in closed spaces. What you are seeing is basically the base rasterized lighting. Which is why differences are minimal to non-RT in wide open outdoor areas, unless PT is used
