SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY – Official Trailer

Is it me or are some of the scenes like.. off

I know its a new director, but like some shots feel kinda goofy and non impactful yet theyre meant to be action scenes.

Those wide angle shots dont look good

Edit: ah its the shang chi guy... explains the mediocrity, that movie looked mediocre too

Zendaya and the fat chinese, again the same shit, i expected new direction.

Punisher without R rated movie is just another generic soldier.

Will watch for free someday.

Thats like complaining a super hero does the same super things over and over. This aint oscar-bait writting. It's comic stuff and also Disney-owned. The fact that Frank is in the movie is already them pushing it, I'm surprised Disney allowed it, but a lot of other tropes will remain forever the same.
No its not. Frank was introduced in a spiderman comic in 76

Doubt The Punisher will be more than just a cameo. Not expecting too much from him, eventhough it's cool they add him in. Means the character is not out of their minds just yet and maybe ends up with a new season.
Punisher killing people around a 15 - 16 year old kid? In a PG 13 movie? No way.

Shang Chi was such a shit movie, but I think it was the script.

Who knows, this might be bad, but it at least seems to have a plot.

Now I feel like I can't remember the ending of the last one. Everyone forgot who he was?

These films obviously leave a lasting impression....

Shame as I love spider man...I've obviously had too much Marvel. Lol

Almost five years between this and the previous one. Long enough for me to completely forget everything that happened in No Way Home.

And CGI looks like crap for some reason.

This is exactly what's said about Spider-Man in the trailer.

Mutants are coming. :goog_horns:

Brand New Day = The Birth of Mutants
100% this

The mind controlling "vilain" is actualy Sadie Sink playing Jim Gray

Its cool, but for once I would have liked a Spider-Man movie focusing only on Spider-man alone (crazy, I know)

I'm over the whole shared universe thing. It works for comic books because issues are constantly being released and they have time to do all that stuff, but when you only get 1 movie every 3-5 years you don't have the time to explore the characters and storylines within that superhero's own circle. J Jonah Jameson has been relegated to a cameo, there's been a near non-existent relationship with the Osborns, Peter never works at the Daily Bugle, and his family have been entirely forgettable probably due to lack of screen time. It's like doing Batman without Gotham City PD.

I'll be surprised if Daredevil isn't in this.

He already had a cameo in No Way Home, and then they feature The Hand and The Punisher in the trailer. Him not being in the movie is like Tobey Maguire not being in No Way Home.

Also sort of expecting Wilson Fisk to show up as well.

So will spidey be in DD season 2 (5? how do we count these things?). About the only way I'm gonna give a shit about this movie is if DD hits it out of the park and gets me interested again. Otherwise I fear spidey will be sacrificed to try to make Shang-Chi happen again (and drag all this mutant nonsense into the MCU) and will end up irrelevant in his own film.

TBH I would have liked to have seen Fisk already in the MCU. But yes I really hope he is in it.

Fisk was IMO one of the best Spidey villains..

Aside from the budgetary and schedule reasons he has listed, it's also the sense of weight. Marvel has had an issue of weightlessness in their CGI even in it's best of times.

There's a weightlessness to it, almost like they all weigh as much as a feather. I wonder how it would be possible to make the heroes feel weighty but also illustrate that they are indeed faster and stronger than everyone else.

One of the reasons it worked so well in the Amazing Spiderman series is because they slowed things down a bit and grounded everything, including the villains (aside from Electro who kept a speed close to comic accurate).

Look at how much slower Lizard moves in ASM1...

...Than he does in No Way Home:

He's more like a hulking, lumbering beast in ASM1.

Under contract they have to a cameo along with Spider-Man for the marvel movies. So never a solo marvel spidey. Ruffalo was probably the cheapest

I didn't think much of the trailer to be honest. I like Spider-man and I'll see it of course. But it was missing something, it felt boring honestly. Low stakes. Need to see more.

All Asians look the same to you, huh?

Nevermind that Jacob Batalon is Filipino and doesn't look Chinese whatsoever...

There are a TON of chinese descended filipinos, so it's not some sort of impossible stretch to conflate the two.

Though as he loses weight, I think he more strongly expresses the pacific islander appearance.

hope he can translate his career from "the fat friend", sadly so many gotta stay unhealthy to fill their acting niche.

2026 is gonna be Marvel's year with Spider-Man & Doomsday. Both making $2B.

I dont see either crossing 2 billion. Spiderman will likely do very well and probably better than Doomsday but Marvel has to share revenue with Sony Pictures (with sony getting the larger percentage if I remember correctly).

Doomsday may well be technically successful in terms of box office but its production costs are going to be many steps beyond insanity. The cast is fucking enormous and has both legacy (read: very expensive) characters and the remaining bloat from their more recent (read: shitty) movies and shows. Then couple in a marketing budget that will nearly equal its production cost and the fact that it has to split that revenue 50/50 with movie theaters. It could find itself in a scenario where it makes a billion but still loses money. Marvel fatigue is very real out among regular movie-goers and this film is a hail-mary pass if I've ever seen one

Dune 3 will (hopefully) CRUSH Doomsday, though I suspect Marvel will blink despite any "Dunesday" PR as that date gets closer. Do we have any more MCU flicks between now and then to test the waters? Just Spidey? Then I wonder how much set up got shoehorned into it.

How we don't have Blade for Halloween still bugs the shit out of me.

Thoughts on finally having a live action Tombstone and in-outfit Scorpion?

I know some people want to just see the usual top villains recycled but seeing them finally go deeper into Spidey's rogues gallery for a part 4 seems intriguing to me.

Tombstone was one of the coolest parts of Spectacular Spiderman Season 1. I thought it was a good, bold choice and his character paid off and became memorable in that show.

I'm happy that they are giving Spider-Man lesser known villains more screentime. When it comes to superheroes, I'm not as interested in Spider-Man when it comes to the comics. Most of the comics I read featuring him were boring to me

The movies are hit or miss for me too. The only Spider-Man films I enjoyed were around four of them with one of the films being the first animated Spidey flick, I know that's Miles but Peter Parker does show up

Considering this includes The Hand, Punisher and takes place in New York, Daredevil has to show up right?

I noticed that too and I hope Daredevil shows up

I enjoyed Shang-Chi but that third act did fall apart

His other contribution to the MCU which is Wonder Man was fantastic though

So I'm more hopeful that this is gonna to be fantastic especially during the action sequences

I doubt Spider-Man will show up in Daredevil Born Again Season 2 just because he's a superhero aimed at teenagers. But it would be funny to see him show up dropping f bombs during each episode lol

Oh both are going to be making over 1 Billion at least

As for Doomsday, I'm super excited for it, I might go to the theater to watch Avenger Doomsday and Dune Part 3 back to back. I'm excited for both films and I hope they make over a billion at the box office

The CGI for Spider-Man Brand New Days looks fine to me, for me it's a trailer, so of course there's gonna to be shots in there that aren't completely finished yet. So I'm more optmistic on that front

As for MJ and Ned, I'm curious to see what they do that with that before I make full judgement on it

One of the sequences I noticed that when he's at that facility with all those DODC soldiers, it looks like that something is jumping from that old women he finds in that tank to the soldiers. Like Jean Grey was mentally controlling each one mentally. It was a short sequence shown in the trailer but I could tell what was going on. I hope that it's Sadie Sink as Jean Grey

Dune 3 over a billion? Dune 2 did above 700m, I dont know if it was good enough to bring more people back.

I'll come back to this thread after both movies are out.

I think WOM is gonna make or break Doomsday. I've little doubt it will have a smash first weekend, though with Dune 3 the number of screens will be lower (and I bet both of these flicks clock in near 2.5-3 hours) . Dune 3 will likely track much like Dune 2 unless it gets really atrocious reviews which would put it around 80 mill opening weekend and 300 mill domestic, hardly anything to threaten a tentpole Marvel film, really. But Doomsday MUST shatter records with that 450 mill budget, not to mention the ad spend.

Still think it won't make $2B huh

Sony released the trailer for Tom Holland's new Spidey adventure on May 17, and in four days it hit 1 billion views — the first film trailer ever to surpass the mega milestone. It now has 1.1 billion views, per WaveMetrix, further cementing its status as the biggest movie trailer in history.
