wtf sort of arc is this? went from bangin to skeletor to bangin again in the space of 3 years. damn.
Have they already forgotten that Butcher can see Negan? And otherwise, I wish Soldier Boy had gotten a longer fight, or any fight at all.
The writers confirmed this was written in late 2023/early 2024 and they're actually annoyed at how some of the stuff they've wrote has happened.Watching the 5x01 and holy shit, they really are pushing on some recent political topics
So how did it end?
Oh I see. I thought they released all episodes at once.No idea there's six more episodes left to air
Oh I see. I thought they released all episodes at once.
Besides what you mentioned, I thought they did a nice job with it.the a-train scene was so silly, suddenly he's near lightspeed travel, and has superspeed while everyone is frozen, is able to out-speed homelander's lasers, but is then back to normal speed when homelander chases him
I guess they wanted to give him a cool sequence before killing him off
That's the Netflix strat.Oh I see. I thought they released all episodes at once.
People loved Homelander too much and the writers could not allow that.I liked the show when Homelander was this unbeatable evil power who everyone feared all the time. But every next season this got diminished more and more and now everyone just seems to not give a shit about him while he hardly retaliates by killing a regular guy or two.
I thought that was the point in the second half of the last season? I mean they started rounding people up, dude.I liked the show when Homelander was this unbeatable evil power who everyone feared all the time. The only thing that will redeem this show for me is if/when Homelander also stops giving a shit and starts wrecking havoc properly.
Nah, i don't feel like any of the characters feel Homelander is as hard to beat as they did in previous seasons. The only weapon they had before against him was his reputation but now that's not a thing anymore and it also seems like every other high enough level super can hold their own against him like Maeve, Soldier Boy and even a drugged up Butcher, which is hilarious. Yeah, let's just reach the highest level of power by doing that drug thing, it's that easy. Stormfront could also probably stand against him and maybe that Tetsuo girl from Temu, who knows.I thought that was the point in the second half of the last season? I mean they started rounding people up, dude.
Just like how Bill Hader killed his own show (Barry).People loved Homelander too much and the writers could not allow that.
Wasn't he in the trailer to this season?Enjoyed episode 2 more than episode 1. Clearly they've diverted significantly from the source material, very interested in seeing how they wrap up the main plot.
Odd to see the nuclear-option, aka Ryan, is completely missing from the first two episodes. Wonder if that kid actor is even in this season or not.

The funny thing is that all the maga shit they accuse Trump of is actually being done by the UK right now so they are more hitting their own than anything.Just like how Bill Hader killed his own show (Barry).
Eric Kripke has already told everyone The Boys is an allegory on Trump and Maga. I dropped it early Season 4 for this reason. He said he isnt going to stop.
And thank goodness for that, or else they would have dragged things out with a sequel series like Dexter.Just like how Bill Hader killed his own show (Barry).
The writers being the original comic it's based on?People loved Homelander too much and the writers could not allow that.
The writers being the original comic it's based on?
Show has stopped being accurate seasons ago. The original comic was not that great though according to some folks. Haven't read it.Is the show even accurate to the comic?
I liked the first few seasons way better when the concept was a mix of "what if Superman was evil" with "what if Superheroes were real but they all acted liked spoiled celebrities and were managed by cynical mega corporations". But the focus in recent seasons has basically completely shifted over to "what if Trump had superpowers?".
Since the comic was published between 2006-2012, they are either taking a lot of liberties or Garth Ennis predicted a ton of stuff.
The stuff I've heard about the comic sounds pretty bad. But I'm not a Garth Ennis guy in general. I tried reading Preacher a while back and while I wanted to like it, it was just too edgelordy. I remember a friend telling me about Crossed and that sounded pretty similar in that respect.Show has stopped being accurate seasons ago. It's the same case with Barry where the tone of the show changed after season 2. It's always funny when the writers fail and create a likeable villain by mistake.People loved Homelander too much and the writers could not allow that.
Eh.. I think people like the performance for Homelander but the character itself is likeable? To whom? lolIt's the same case with Barry where the tone of the show changed after season 2. It's always funny when the writers fail and create a likeable villain by mistake.
In a sense Homelander is admirable because he remains true to himself, has a standard and lives his own truth, isn't afraid to fight for his beliefs, and is a tragic consequence of extreme 'parental' abuse paired with a messiah like genetic gift. Because The Boys is a show devoid of objective good/evil, any kind of soul or divine/higher power, and basically wallows in human depravity, gluttony, and vile debauchery with really no contrast of morality (Milk -might- be the only even vague example of 'goodness' in the show), it makes the villains easy to relate to because at least that character is having fun, progressing towards a goal, and isn't basically a whiney bitch.Eh.. LikeHomelander .. likable villain..
what ..
I mean...aside from the powers part, this is like half of the main characters in the show.In a sense Homelander is admirable because he remains true to himself, has a standard and lives his own truth, isn't afraid to fight for his beliefs, and is a tragic consequence of abuse
Uhh.. Hughie? Not to mention Annie, Kimiko and Frenchie. They are the shows heros, flawed, but much closer to "good" than anyone else, particularly Hughie. In a sense Homelander is admirable because he remains true to himself, has a standard and lives his own truth, isn't afraid to fight for his beliefs, and is a tragic consequence of extreme 'parental' abuse paired with a messiah like genetic gift. The writers are sabotaging themselves because they are FAR too jaded and cynical to be able to craft a proper story, so instead they are producing shock-value crap that has to constantly try to out gross itself as the only trick in the playbook.
The AI slop is more recent and it is on the first episodeThe writers confirmed this was written in late 2023/early 2024 and they're actually annoyed at how some of the stuff they've wrote has happened.
No it is not lol. It might be more popular now, but it has been around pre-2025.The AI slop is more recent and it is on the first episode
Eh, they are all murderers with little in the way of traditional heroic values. They flip flop back and forth in so many ways it's hard to trace their path through the seasons. Homelander is progressively getting less interesting as he acquires more characteristics as the rest, but I think for the early seasons, the reasons I articulated are why viewers might gravitate towards him in ways they may not a more traditional villain with actual likable heroes.Uhh.. Hughie? Not to mention Annie, Kimiko and Frenchie. They are the shows heros, flawed, but much closer to "good" than anyone else, particularly Hughie.
But sure the mass murderer who courted Nazi's to help him take over can totally be likeable because.. I dunno, your reasons are really fucking weird.
And Homelander is a massive whiny bitch lol
He's fun to watch but relating to him? lol, other than extremely vague stuff like "he had a bad childhood" the guy is a monster and a huge insecure loser.
People have found Homelander cool. That's all to it. It is like Wesker in RE - love him or hate him - he looked cool and acted cool. Or Sephiroth in FF.Homelander .. likable villain..
what ..
They are not charismatic enough. Maybe the Starlight but the Boys is basically Homelander TV series. Like I am curious how many people would have watched the show if Homelander was not there.Uhh.. Hughie? Not to mention Annie, Kimiko and Frenchie. They are the shows heros, flawed, but much closer to "good" than anyone else, particularly Hughie.
I mean yeah they are boring as shit. The question is more about whether Homelander is enjoyable to watch or actually "likeable."They are not charismatic enough. Just like Sephiroth or Wesker or Bison. Or a lot of villains in Marvel Universe. Like nobody considers Venom a good guy, but it is a popular character. Though of course the show will (and is trying) try to destroy Homelander character as much as possible. It is like the Joker in Joker 2. Joker 2 was deliberately destroyed because the producers did not like the fact that Joker 1 character became popular. Like kids play as villains too and a lot of people like to cosplay or role play as these characters.I mean yeah they are boring as shit.
