Digital Foundry: Over 20 games tested with PSSR 2.0 Upgrade

Any new games coming soon with PSSR2? I guess Pragmata and Saros are pretty much certain. Maybe Starfield? Not sure if they'll bother for South of Midnight..
I think it's going to be pretty standard with AAA releases going forward: Pragmata, Saros, 007 First Light, Beast of Reincarnation, Tokon, Wolverine, Phantom Blade 0.

Xbox first party games might be the exception here, it would be bad PR to release dramatically better looking games on PS5 Pro than any Xbox console can currently produce. I doubt we'll see it on Starfield or South of Midnight but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Interesting, thanks. Looking forward to someone who is willing to take the PS5 Pro and PC version side by side and test 4K DLSS Quality. Interested to see if PSSR2 holds up.
While not exactly what you asked and not apples to apples, I decided to compare the pro version in performance mode vs 1440p DLAA on PC (as I couldn't do 4k) just for fun.

Naturally you'll notice better settings on PC especially at a distance as I have it maxed out, but I tried them on the exact same monitor and the Pro version certainly looked sharper in terms of IQ in person. Not sure if it's coming across here. The time of day is also not 100% a match.

Bonus shot from less muddy weather. Unfortunately I could not match it on PC as I haven't progressed enough in the story there to unlock changing weather/time of day. It would have been ideal for a comparison but what can ya do.

Just a fun little comparison, not trying to draw any conclusions here. I can only say for sure that the pro version does not look like 1080p output as suggested by DF originally, it looks 1440p+ in my eyes.

Did they test TLOU2 or Ragnarok?
Didn't see a deep dive from DF and I haven't tested TLOU2 extensively, but Ragnarok IQ is absolutely stunning now. I had PSSR 1 disabled due to excessive shimmering, aliasing and frame drops. But PSSR 2 handily beats TAA. Frames still drop around the world tree, but it seems rock solid everywhere else.

I'm not too sure about the bolded. MS can't afford to gimp their games like this on PS5 Pro.

Gotta say...........this is disturbing. Not a good look for MS going forward if true.
I'm not surprise at all. I'm already quite shocked to see their games run decently on ps5 imo or even seen so many with the ps5 pro support somehow.

Great comparison, cheers.

It's a good sign devs can go above and beyond the results of just having the toggle if they do a separate patch now I'm looking for a sale on AC Shadows

You mean the official patch detailed here?

It's not clear if there will be further differences compared to the current toggle.
The patch could basically just be the developers integrating PSSR2.0 in the game so that regardless of the toggle you always get the best possible results.

Yeah i guess we'll have to see how it turns out I'm not sure if the toggle was causing image quality issues or not. Cerny mentioned how tedious the process is to convert games from PSSR 1 to 2 so one would think they wouldn't go through all that trouble for nothing.
