Sony XDev - Studio that collaborates with external studios (Stella Blade, Death Stranding 2) removed PC ports from its description

Looks like at the very least big reduction to pc ports from sony's side is coming, maybe even 0/close to 0 downporting for foreseeable future.

The tweet doesn't mention anything about PC but if the rumors are correct, then I don't see why XDEV games also wouldn't be on PC going forward.

Isn't anyone mentioning that Nixxes has changed from:

"The industry-leading Dutch studio with more than 20 years of experience in game development and optimisation."

To..

"Netherlands-based studio with engineering teams specialized in high-quality PC ports, and art and design teams co-developing games with PlayStation Studios worldwide."

So they've gone from not mentioning PC at all, to making a point of it.

Also Bluepoint's has been updated from:

"Austin-based studio behind critically-acclaimed remasters and remakes, including The Nathan Drake Collection and Demon's Souls."

Good to see PC ports still coming!

It's a bold move from Sony for sure when everyone else is pivoting towards pc. But is it the right one?

If this leads to Sony's first-party making actual good games again, I am all for it. They've been delivering mid to shit stuff throughout the generation except for Astro Bot.

Contract? It's a description on a webpage. Check out what Nixxes says.

And I'm not seeing any evidence of cutting off 2nd party from PC. Kena was literally announced a month ago.

Perhaps making a point of mentioning PC is to ensure it's understood that some games are still coming (GaaS and multiplayer). Bluepoint was closed, wasn't it? Edit: Took me an minute to get the joke. Still sad about Bluepoint.

They cant cut second party with already established contracts....

But they can make the terms for new contracts and games if their strategy pivots and the studios accept.

And you will get 0 extra games and the games you get won't be any different.

But enjoy the celebration lol

That's entirely debatable. There's no doubt Sony spent time and resources on porting and establishing/amplifying their PC presence. Greatly reducing that may have a noticeable impact on their first-party output which has been sorely lacking for many people this generation. It's hard to say without concrete information either way, though.

What contracts? This is a update on various studio descriptions. With Nixxes going from not mentioning PC at all to now mentioning PC. The contract thing in the title is not true.
