Video game adaptations into movies

Due to the overwhelming success of the Mario Galaxy movie.

It's a movie we all wanted to see made.

There have been good video game adaptations, including animated ones.

On the flip side, you have games that ended up being better than their movie adaptions...ie Indiana Jones's latest movie should have been the Great Circle, Alien Isolation was better than Alien Covenant, and the recent Robocop game should have been Robocop 3 or 4 even..you could probably add in the Terminator game from recent years being better than the recent entries of the movie

first silent hill, for some, including me, is quite okay-ish.
also pokemon did well with most people.
sonic also did good if not okay-ish.
i heard recent exit 8 also good

that anime street fighter, is one of the best, if not the best in my opinion

there will be sekiro, i hope it will be good

I can understand if experience in video game is hard to be remade in movie,
because game is like story + gameplay.
the later is the factor that determining why we love video games.

and it's hard to remade into story only.

It was shown the cinema in Mexico, but I didn't go because of work hours and it was only shown for a few days.

This Tekken movie, while decent...

I didn't like how they mistreated Jun, and I detest Kazuya...

There aren't enough characters with enough screen time. I'd give it a 7.7.

The Samurai Shodown movie has good fanservice. Nakoruru appears, and the story is simple. I'd give it an 8.4.

For me this is the best Tekken Movie

I liked the Detective Pikachu one. Don't really count the X regular Pokemon movies since they're totally their own separate entity really.

The first Tomb Raider movie maybe

I remember my parents forcing my brother to take me watch the Pokémon movie since I was a little kid. If you are reading this, man, I'm very sorry.

These movies were enjoyable

I feel like if I actually played World of Warcraft I might have enjoyed this movie. But it was terrible for what it was.

Tetris isn't really a 'film adaption'. I would rank it as a docudrama. the closest thing that I can compare to is an older TV movie; Pirates of Silicon Valley, which was a dramatized quasi-documentary about the rise of Microsoft and Apple computers and rivalry between Jobs and Gates.

Tetris really gives off the same vibes, I think Pirates was used as a template for the Tetris movie. Which is about Hink Rogers (founder of Bullet Proof Software) and how he had to go to Soviet Russia and bring Tetris to the Game Boy. It goes into the battle that he had with Tengen. Etc.

Always liked Chronicles of Riddick. Albeit they came out at roughly the same time, I believe. Not sure if that counts.

Silent Hill (2006) and Max Payne aren't great movies BUT they recreate the atmosphere of those games perfectly so I've always enjoyed them.

An obligation when it comes to video game and movies.

Watched in the cinema back in the day with my mom, and she was like "why the guy needed to be naked to put a chip on his head?" And I still don't know how to answer that

@thread
- Sonic; Those are real movies, with character motivations and nice jokes. It's for kids, so you need to put your brain into that. 1 is good, 2 is great snd 3 is really great
- Mario (the new ones); can't say that those are real movies, but too much of a bunch of scenes combined and very quickly. Can't say that this is not enjoyable, because I liked, but it kinda suffer on how nowadays movies are made
- new Mortal Kombat; solid, with nice choreography and the OG characters are well presented. They respect the original material. Awful story thou
- old Mortal Kombat (only the first one); it's fun and energetic. A 90s teen movie schlocky as hell that still holds up
- old Street Fighter; it cheesy as fuck, but it's kinda fun. More of a guilty pleasure thing
- Hitman (2007); very solid. Didn't push anything, with a actor that knew it's role. It's a nice humble movie
- Doom (2005); only has one real amazing scene, with the primary guy in first person, and basically that's it. Watch on YouTube and you're fine
- Tomb Raider; first one is solid, second one is kinda eh. Watch the first and don't care much of reality and you're fine

Stay the fuck out:
- Double Dragon, new Doom, new Hitman, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, Dead or Alive, anything made by Uwe Boll, Max Payne and the first Mario movie

I went to see Mortal Kombat in theaters in 1995 (i was 10 at the time don't even know how i could enter) and it was the best vg adaptation, for the OST alone. If you factor in LAmbert's Raiden, it might even be the best movie of all time.

Nier Automata for me would be cool, of course with beautiful protagonist actress. By the way its sad too see you are banned bro. Hopefully its just temporary
