Once you get rid of CA, grain, vignette and motion blur, slap RenoDX with a custom preset turn RR on, Crimson Desert is the best looking game. Before I was playing with RR it was one of the best. With RR on it's just too good. Repost from the OT but walking there it was like CGI (screen does not make it justice but anyway)

Dead rising a so dead ass simple I would almost think that planar reflections would have worked, and the footage is quite bad honestly, mirror reflections but yeah… I couldn't recall the last time I had seen such a raster looking game with almost no shadows. Eeewww
None of the modern RE engines had anything worthwhile in terms of RT as

It's an open game with day/night cycle and hundreds on enemies on screen.
Visually mediocre, I agree, but it ain't a light nor simple game at all.
Not just mirrors either, opaque RT reflections are all over the place on any kind of surfaces, night and day compared to the screen space equivalents once turned off.
Pragmata Ray Tracing is absolute crap for no apparent reason whatsoever.

I'm hearing Pragmata also has severe shimmering on console even on the Pro. I was just trying out the Dead Rising demo on ps5 pro because the game is on sale and I was thinking of buying it and was not living the RT reflections. Mirrors and transparent reflections looked rough. Do u know if the full game is a different build than demo?

This little village has so much detail it is kinda insane. So many different NPCs, plant life, pots and pans and other magical special effects going on in this town. It's all so very impressive.

Ok good. I know it pales compared to PC path tracing but i thought it was decent on Pro. Some people were talking about an update that removed rt I got worried for a second. Rt reflections on Pro looked kinda crap.
How is Pragmata rt so bad on Pro now that it has PSSR2? It didn't look bad in the demo ...not perfect but not the worst...i was expecting it to look great now with pssr but reports are game is shimmery

RT on Pro should be lighting, reflections and shadows. But I believe AO as well.
Although aliased, reflections are still an improvement over previous Resident Evil games as those didn't have them on transparent surfaces at all.
The Demo removed RT reflections altogether for some reason. It had them at launch. But we got confirmation in this Thread it's just a Demo bug, actual game has no issues.

Another thing that Crimson Desert does extremely well is Character Animation. They went the Rockstar route with grounded and heavy animations which makes the character move like a real person. I honestly love it, and not only the movement but the sound the character makes as well while walking or running. Each step feels crunchy
The devs have put tons of effort in this area and as a result, even just walking around feels satisfying.
I tested Starfield a couple of days ago with the new update and the character movement feels so floaty and unrealistic, there is no love or care either in the footsteps sounds so it seems like your character doesn't any weight at all even though you are walking with a fucking spacesuit lol
This is such a fundamental concept that every game developer should nail because a lot of the gameplay enjoyment comes from how the character moves and feel when controlling it and yet many companies fail at it

The world and its random puzzles were clearly made by talented people and its the only thing carrying the game heavily for me. Too bad the ragdoll for your character is pretty annoying in boss fights, as you bounce like a fucking basketball when bosses throw you around. At one point I got stunlocked into bouncing for an eternity. On one hand, tech-wise, that was hilariously impressive, on the other hand it's super annoying and completely ruins boss fights.

They could always upgrade their RT, but they didn't. Between RE8 and RE4 their games were AMD sponsored and had super low quality RT, they even forced only FSR2 support in them - that's how "good guy AMD" was operating back then.
Both RTGI in DD2 and reflections in DR Remake (never ported to PC BTW) show that engine can do more than that, but they didn't bother to do anything on Pro and regular RT mode on PC. But both of those games only have one RT effect (reflections for DR and RTGI for DD2) while RE games combine basic RTGI/RTAO and reflections.
So nvidia has nothing to do with this, without their Path Tracing we would see only extremely basic RT in Pragmata and RE9 (exactly the same as in older games, so nvidia conspiracy is worth jack shit here). I think Capcom do this with performance reasons in mind (at least on consoles).

Look, clearly there's a choice made here for consoles in mind. I agree on PC those RT effects make no sense but so did all previous modern RE engine RT effects since the dawn of AMD sponsored RE. Is it all AMD's fault? Probably on devs, but I also don't subscribe that Nvidia made RT bad to sell off PT, RT seems like a relic in the engine.
Again, all modern games using RE engine's RT have been crap.
You say solidQ is right which is basically tinfoil hat territory that nvidia is sabotaging the implementation, while the most likely reason is they sent engineers only for PT and PT only.

Yeah, 12% means their ray tracing is a barebones low cost solution that isnt doing much. RTGI and reflections typically have a 35-50% cost in other games. I am really not sure why they are forcing us to use path tracing in RE Engine games along with ray reconstruction which is obviously very expensive. Much more so than a typical RTGI solution we see in Anvil, UE5 and Snowdrop games.

Ubisoft has been a bunch of tech videos on AC Shadows. A year after launch which is bizarre but these are pretty cool.

There is one on their nanite equivalent solution as well.
Both videos have washed out colors and still dont do the game justice. But really cool to see devs outlining these features. Wish it was done before the game came out so it didnt flop. One of the best if not the best looking game of the generation and it pretty much flopped.

Benchmark King on twitter made a video about how the lighting has improved since launch, especially with the latest Patch 1.3. I thought I was going crazy because i also noticed better AO on foliage and way better dusk and night time lighting.

This looks good visually here.Some more Samson 4k DLAA. Really like the lighting and materials. I am a sucker for UE5 lighting, and this game just has that perfect grimy look GTA4 was going for. Took almost two decades but we are finally here. I just wish the streets were a bit more populated.
yes, its a full remake like Demon Souls. not a remaster. Built on the AC Shadows tech. They already released the remaster last gen iirc.

CD doesn't aim for photorealism but more of a fantasy style with saturated colors/over exposition and pitch black AO (that I corrected a bit, not too much as it's a deliberate choice that helps create an atmosphere). And again it looks a lot better in motion with all the NPCs doing their things, the wind interacting with everything, the top tier animations etc... but even in screenshots I think it looks amazing.
It's not perfect of course, there is still room to improve yet I think it's up there for best graphics ever. And ranking it N°1 or not is a matter of personal taste IMO.

Again, Gamers contradicting themselves, they say games don't need higher graphical fidelity and then they turn around and complain why games haven't progressed much in terms of graphics, when they are provided with real-time solutions that make games look way better like AI upscaling, Ray Tracing, Path Tracing & DLSS 5, they cry.

The screenshot is in JPEG which unfortunately destroys the details. In game the vegetation is not Forbidden West/KCD II level (those two are the best on that I think) but it's pretty good, far from bad or poor.
Anyway that draw distance never gets old
