No more special sauce for Xbox console going Into helix

isn't that all consoles the last 2 gens?
PS5 had a storage solution that was sci-fi when it released. Yes, I did had a PCIe SSD years before on my PC but those loading times where unreal in 2020. Then people quickly forgot about it and focused in that weak upscaling. Also, its audio system is based on the cell's SPEs.And both Pro consoles had some innovation in them.

It doesn't matter, it just needs to have a plug-and-play interface/experience like a console. Being a PC is actually an advantage, with access to stores like Steam and free online multiplayer.

Neogaf>wccftech>Neogaf

Considering they will be far behind the market leader, this is the obvious route to go. Any custom features would go unutilized, much like they did on Series hardware.

It's going to have ML FSR, FG/MFG, and RR. Who cares if it's custom. That being said, this is going to be a SFF PC with Xbox BC and probably cost over $1K. It's not a product for the mass market. Aimed more at people who want a secondary HTPC for the living room with access to your GP/Xbox library.

All I care about at this point is them making the backwards compatibility work better than current emulation. The only value it could bring to the table for me.

so like the Series X and PS5? this isn't new...
there's no secret sauce when every API is based around the Direct X feature set, because the GPUs are literally designed around Direct X and then put into a console, and all you essentially get inside a console is a PC part that has been stripped down somewhat

people forgot it because it was insane overkill and barely accomplished anything that the comparatively slow SSD inside the Series X, with no secret sauce couldn't do as well, with only slight differences.

if your storage solution is 50% faster, but the time frame you're talking about is 2 seconds... then... like... wow, now it will take 3 seconds to load instead! the horror!
and in games "designed around it" you get a 2 frame stutter by running them on an ordinary SSD! SCANDALOUS! 🤣

Here's what Sebastien Nussbaum, Corporate Vice President & Senior Fellow, Semi-Custom Products and Technologies at AMD said about series X.

""Xbox Series X is the biggest generational leap of SOC [System on a Chip] and API design that we've done with Microsoft, and it's really an honor for AMD to be a trusted Microsoft partner for this endeavor," said Nussbaum. "The Xbox Series X is going to be a beacon of technical innovation leadership for this console generation and will propagate the innovation throughout the DirectX ecosystem this year and into next year.""

Not shocking, this device is going to be low-volume and expensive, so the cost of customizing is just not worthwhile.

well... yeah. the system was designed with DX12 Ultimate in mind. as are AMD's PC GPUs

Lmao. You somehow spinning this as A Bad Thing is quite hilarious.

No customization needed. You're not driving a low power or constrained device, and it'll have the full feature set of a brand new GPU architecture.
