I'm expecting a literal Jesus to show up and kill him. Or probably Kali with how anti-christian this show is. If the writers had any balls they'd have Mohammad do it, but they of course cave to the one type of "cultural expression" that has actual force behind it.
I dont think they'll go there with Butcher's character. He is way softer than in the comics. That was a fun episode, now that they've ended the V1 fetch quest, the final 2 episodes need to be ball to the wall action and deaths.
Wonder if they have the cojones to take the comic route and have Homelander die in the next episode and have the final episode be Butcher killing all the surviving supes, including the 'good' ones.
Would fit modern left wing politics where it is all about stealing someone's else stuf and giving it to someone elseWell leaks were true, then i wont like next thing

sister sage puts soldier boy power in kimiko
Yeah you wouldn't think they are super heroes. Looked like old men throwing slow punches at each other.I liked it
I remember thinking the last season was pretty weak. The only thing I really don't care for this season has been the changes to Kimiko. Her being able to talk not only adds nothing to the story, but rarely does she say anything interesting. It's often just poop or sex jokes. But man do I prefer this romance w/ Frenchie over last season where he just kind of ditches her for some random guy for a while.
Also yeah the choreography in the fights this season have not been good. But aside from those things I think there's a lot to like. I think the pacing has been great, the comedy generally works (outside of when Kimiko speaks), the gore and effects are still good, and I am really liking the story, especially compared to the comic book.
Which didn't make any sense since even Homelander was slowed down in that scene, yet he couldn't run from him 5 mins later.Yeah you wouldn't think they are super heroes. Looked like old men throwing slow punches at each other.
Maybe they spent majority of the budget on the first episode for the a train slow mo.
This show stopped being good after S1. Takes people a few years and a couple dozen video essays to realize it.Don't watch the show anymore but I'm seeing a lot of negativity about the final season on Twitter. Reminds me of how people were talking after the first half of Stranger Things S5 aired.
Fixed. So the final season actually is just 2 episodes and the remaining first 6 are all Vought Rising season 0.
Everything points to it becoming the next GoT-level disaster.
There used to be some pretty cool fights in the show. Not these 1–2 second season 5 fights that just look embarrassing.
I didn't like a single episode this season, and for a final season, it is already a disaster. The jokes aren't funny, and we had two episodes in a row with ass deaths that were supposed to be funny, I guess. The Boys are only annoying at this point. I don't care if any of them lives at the end anymore. In order to get GOT level disaster they need to try hard. Very hard. Soldier Boy and Homelander - regardless of the resolution will be probably prevent the ending from being GOT level disaster.
Still I doubt anything related to the Boys universe won't be popular. Maaaybe Soldier Boy series. But I doubt.
Actually yeah why did they drop the split personality, I thought it was a great twist.I didn't like a single episode this season, and for a final season, it is already a disaster. The jokes aren't funny, and we had two episodes in a row with ass deaths that were supposed to be funny, I guess. The Boys are only annoying at this point. Noir No. 2's death was just ridiculous. He can fly and is bulletproof, but dies in two seconds because of an audio cable. Sage's master plan is stupid, and for supposedly being the smartest person on Earth, she's pretty dumb.
What happened to Butcher and his split personality?
Well it might be boring but I still doubt that D&D solution will happen.I didn't like a single episode this season, and for a final season, it is already a disaster. Question: Where did this info come from? This show makes shit up on the fly, so I'm not necessarily doubting, but this, if true, would be really fucking stupid (which is, admittedly, not beneath The Boys). I can't even imagine how this would be explained in-universe.Well leaks were true, then i wont like next thing

sister sage puts soldier boy power in kimiko
This would be hilarious. We're gonna need another Timmy. They should have Black Noir III appear next episode with no explanation and die 10min later with still no discernible character arc.
Insert "That's the joke" meme. These are adult-children and also terrible people. Maybe it's not as funny as it should be, but it is what it is. The practicality of their powers is irrelevant.Noir No. 2's death was just ridiculous. He can fly and is bulletproof, but dies in two seconds because of an audio cable. Yeah - this seems to track. Did I miss something, though? Was Soldier Boy able to do this (remove powers via chest-blast) before? Or is this a new thing? When he speaks to Bombsite in regard to this ability, I pulled a "wait, what?" stupid-face.I'm thinking that Soldier Boy is going to turn Homelander human since his ultimate chest beam move can apparently do that now.
That was the whole reason the Boys went after Soldier boy in i think season 3. He even removed Kimikos power and she could not heal after that.Yeah - this seems to track. Oh, right: I'm a dope (laughs). Totally forgot - I didn't think the power removal was permanent. That was the whole reason the Boys went after Soldier boy in i think season 3.
Kind of, and the only tiny scene that one can maybe use to rationalize how he might have always had this ability, is the fact that he didn't vaporize Maeve when she sacrificed herself and jumped out of the window with him while he was using it in that season 3 finale.Yeah - this seems to track. All of it has been implications and hints towards something more, and that 'something more' being the new 'Vought Rising' show, which is why we keep getting bits and pieces with stories between him and other characters 'ending' in this final Boys season.Soldier Boy has been all over the place this season: He antagonizes Homelander, then, in a depressed state, offers himself as an easy kill (not really sure if Homelander CAN kill him, so that was odd), mopes around as a "maybe good-guy, now," despite being a dickhead, then gives Homelander the V1...maybe in an insincere fashion? I guess we're all supposed to be on the edges of our seats, waiting to see what V1 actually does.
I'm still in.
She did get her powers back, they only needed Homelander powerless for the kill.Oh, right: I'm a dope (laughs). Totally forgot - I didn't think the power removal was permanent.

I thought Butcher was dying as well? Not that I mind they ignored those things; I thought the stuff going on with Butcher last season was kind of silly anyway.I didn't like a single episode this season, and for a final season, it is already a disaster. I feel like there was very similair conversation like that atleast 2-3 times before. Not word for word but still very close. They still has some genuinely good moments.

Yeah, I tapped out during season 3. Antony Starr's performance as Homelander is the only thing that makes the show enjoyable. I'll give it another go at some point just to be done with it.This show stopped being good after S1. Takes people a few years and a couple dozen video essays to realize it.
Sage is the character that annoys me the most. Some of it is the actress, who plays smug instead of calculating, making what should be definitive "I know this to be true because I can intellectually process it" statements into questions by how she inflects, undermining her own plans by CONSTANTLY being surprised when heroes do...what the heroes ALWAYS do. She will show exasperation, frustration, and confusion at times, even when the events unfolding are ham-fisted and WELL telegraphed to the viewer. Then the writers have to CONSTANTLY remind us of her "super power" because it' so invisible as to be non-existent, given that she acts like a bratty school girl rather than a grand master genius moving pieces. The problem with this show is there really is no consistency with the abilities and they kind of just make the rules up as they go along. Sage is the smartest person ever, not just a smart human but it's a super power. If it's a super power then she should see things no one else sees and would be able to outmaneuver everyone quite easily. But she's smart when the show needs her to be and conveniently can't see other things happening when the show can't allow her to or it would ruin the plot. So they just turn that valve whenever they need to which makes her not really smarter than your prototypical smart human schemer in any show. Certainly not to the level of a super power. She has done nothing to warrant her being supe level intelligent. Worst character on the show because of it.
Yeah, one of the few things I think will be good about this season is that there will be a new set of memes and funny moments to reference to.They still has some genuinely good moments.

Yeah, writing smart characters is hard. Because for that you need to be smart or at least have a proper reference. Modern writers of Hollywood, being lefties most of the time, tend to think that their "smarts" are smart. Like if you make a smug face if you don't agree with someone, that makes you smart and so on.Sage is the character that annoys me the most. To be fair almost ALL "super genius" characters are hard to write and usually fall down, from Lex Luthor to Brainiac to Tony Stark. Only Encyclopedia Brown truly stands undefeated![]()
She's preparing to take a shot at the turkey hole.Wtf, why does she look like John Gruden in that thumbnail?
Sure, but you also have to have them be EXTREMELY calculating and plotting. They set Sage up with some easy "let me google that for you" fact dumps but you never really see her moving pieces into position, especially after her first few episodes. They would need to map out the entire season and really figure out how she could shift characters around to fall into her predetermined traps. Or, for todays crowd, just sit in a room and make a wild prediction about what the Boys are gonna do, which of course they will, no matter how outlandish, because they are slaves to the script. But I seriously doubt Sage set up Firecracker and Soldier Boy to get into bed after hooking Homelander on her milky breasteses, then got Soldier Boy and Homelander alone in a situation where the Firecracker reveal would happen, then push Firecracker to a moment of vulnerability to where she could then be killed, for example.Yeah, writing smart characters is hard. Because for that you need to be smart or at least have a proper reference. Modern writers of Hollywood, being lefties most of the time, tend to think that their "smarts" are smart. Like if you make a smug face if you don't agree with someone, that makes you smart and so on.
Being immortal means not being vulnerable to ageing. It doesn't make you invincible and it is a bit sloppy that the characters in the show don't make that distinction. Although the V1 supes we have seen do seem to be pretty durable, so it's possible that V1 functions as a supercharged form of V that in addition grants immortality. She has done nothing to warrant her being supe level intelligent. Worst character on the show because of it.
Then you have the inconsistencies with the V1. Is the V1 lethal or is it not? They said the V1 was too deadly to continue to produce so they stopped production of it because it was killing everyone. So what happens when you use V1 on people who are already supes? Don't know. And neither does anyone in the show because AFAIK it's never been done because V1 was made before Compound V so that scenario of giving it to supes already made with Compound V wouldn't have even been possible. This was not even discussed though. They talked about giving it to Starlight and Kimiko to save them and make them immortal with no acknowledgement of how deadly it is and it could actually kill them instead. But I assume it won't because then there would be no plot. So any supe who takes it will just instantly become immortal.
Speaking of which, they have no established guidelines on how immortal you actually become. Soldier Boy is apparently immortal in that he doesn't age and his body is super resilient but he also told Homelander that Homelander could have killed him. So he can be killed. So what kills them? Is it destroying the brain? Stormfront has been able to survive without arms, legs, and half a face... so we know the body can survive on V1 taking an incredible amount of damage. But they never established what these guidelines are and it seems like they are doing it for good reason. Because if they intend to have Homelander defeated, something is going to have to take him down and it can't be something they already wrote in that wouldn't work so it seems like they are purposely leaving a lot of stuff vague so they can just write in "Oh, that can kill a V1 supe, ok, good to know now." With the exception being Soldier Boy's powers we know that can cook the V out of their blood.
The show still does a lot of things well, but their handling of the abilities has gotten very sloppy and very conveniently vague so they can just explain things away on the fly.
I have zero interest in a prequel or spin-off, I'm just coasting to the end of this season and I'm done with this universe.Personally I am curious how they are going to handle the Soldier Boy. While with the Homeland they will trash him but they need the Soldier Boy for the prequel so I don't think they will humiliate him or anything.
The comic was so much better. This video explains it better, not saying I agree with all of his points, but it's a pretty good assertion.
I don't believe adaptations have to follow the source material 1:1 in order to be true to the spirit of the original. I was actually on board with the show doing its own thing, as long as they were able to do it well. Unfortunately, I have found that to not be the case. Fans of the show can't even take the 'high ground' when it comes to sex and violence that they used to, given the level of depravity the show has sunk to.Considering it got adapted into a show in the first place, i'll accept the comic book has fans. But imo it's really awful. I am glad they did their own thing.
