Forza 6 and Fable Reaffirmed for PS5

There has been tons of talk of Xbox returning to exclusives. The Xbox fan base is expecting it. Quietly, Xbox the last few days has reaffirmed their commitment to PS5. The Forza tweet is recently pinned. Forza and Fable are arguably the two biggest Xbox studio releases this generation. What is the point of exclusives if those games aren't?

Jez Corden says Xbox wants to go all in on exclusives but can't because of component shortages

It looks like Forza isn't releasing the same time on PS5 as the other two platforms. Maybe that's how they're going to implement this going forward? Staggered release with PS getting games last. Or maybe the port just isn't ready. Hard to tell until we get official info. from MS or just see how it pans out when the games release.

It is weird to release Forza 3-6 months later but Fable day 1. I think Playground just didn't have the port ready. They needed to release Forza 6 ASAP. No game is hurt more by GTA 6's release than Forza

Right, I forgot about how the tidal wave that is GTA 6 is fast approaching. It's going to impact a lot of things going forward.

Yeah, I don't think there's much to really think about here and it's simply that the porting process was started late and it's simply not ready.

Live Service multiplayer games should be multi platform. Halo and Gears looking to be live service multiplayer should be multiplatform. At that point, does it matter if Fable and Forza are multiplatform too?

What does one have to do with the other? Nobody was buying their hardware when there were no shortages, that's the reason these games aren't exclusive, that and the cost of running gamepass.

Regardless of what they do in the future, didn't they say they would be honoring the commitments already made?

Besides even Xbox arent stupid enough to have a game almost built for another platform and then just pull it for 'optics'.

I doubt they would pull back on two announced games. That would be even worse. You gotta commit to what you've already given dates for.

I don't think they will change their exclusivity plans, anyway. I think they are too far in. They would have to have a more successful platform next gen and that's not going to happen.

What makes Nintendo so special that they are allowed to have exclusives?
Nintendo has Stone Age hardware, which already rules them out for many players when it comes to multiplatform games. On top of that, they're missing a huge number of multiplatform titles that are available on other systems. Without their exclusive games, Nintendo would be dead.

People buy Nintendo consoles for the exclusives. Without exclusive games, there would be little reason to buy a Nintendo system.

Yes and people buy Playstation for exclusives as well.

It's a stupid reason to say that only Nintendo is allowed to have exclusives.
I'm referring to Cakeboxer Cakeboxer

Well yeah they both have already been announced and one is coming out very soon. Not sure what's the point here?

Honestly i would be surprised if they went back to full excl;usives. I think the most they would do is timed exclusives, like 6 months -1 year.

Having said that, these games coming to PS5 doesnt mean anything imo because even if they were going to go back to exclusives, games already announced to be coming to PS5 would probably still come imo.

I mean both games were announced and are all over PS Store i think. Forza 5 is a huge seller on Playstation from what i could gather. Weren't there rumors it had sold over 5M according to that Alynea whatever website y'all love so much?

No dates were given for FH until now, as far as I know.

They'll only do it if both these games sell like crap on PlayStation I think. If Forza Horizon 5 is any indication, 6 will sell like gangbusters on the platform.

To most people? No. To anyone trying to convince people to buy their hardware? Yes.

Forza 6 will pay for its full development on PS5 alone, its gonna do gangbusters.

We will see. I'm wondering if MS will see similar issues that PS had when they first went to PC. First games do amazing and then the more games that come the novelty wears off and people stop caring. Not to mention the last game came last year not sure people are really going to be ready to buy another racing game full price that lets be honest will just be the same game in a new settings with very limited changes. Also late 2026, anything near GTA 6 is potentially going to be hurt.

Anyone thinking they will go back to exclusives is delusional. Maybe change to timed exclusivity for some games but I doubt even that.

Why would they take the games away from where they sell? MS was pulling out of regions well before the component shortages. That's just cap.

I got the ultimate edition of FH4 for $20 before it got delisted on Steam and I haven't played it much. I have no interest in 5 or 6 yet. Especially when they're just a different map and more woke.

There's other reasons to buy hardware than simply few exclusives, which can already be played via every gaming capable windows device natively, or via Cloud Gaming to every device with browser and screen.

Those two things aren't changing regardless, they're actually expanding with the Xbox PC/Helix SKU. Exclusivity was irrelevant in a world of Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming, only reason it may exist as timed exclusives is to appease the fanboys.

Yeah, all great points. I still think it will do over 6 million sales on PS5 when all is said and done. I wish it was day one on switch 2 and PS5 tbh. We could then have a big GAF club!
