Forza horizon 6 : Another disaster for 8Gb GPUs

You'll be fine if you don't use RT and select high-medium textures keeping most other settings at ultra or very high.

No 8GB card is for RT or maximum settings and I believe everyone who has one knows that they have to compromise in fidelity for stable frames.

I have a laptop RTX4070 with 8GB VRAM and I can play newer titles from 2023-26 on medium-high with DLSS Balanced, at 60+fps/1440p. Older stuff runs at near max settings. UE titles are pretty much the problem as other custom engine games run all flawlessly without any issue.

However I agree. Don't buy a 8GB card in 2026. Minimum you should have is 12GB. I'm saving to upgrade in 2027 Q4 - 2028 Q1 to a RTX 6080 (mobile).

Developers create an optimized game that runs great on a wide range of hardware. People complain they aren't getting their money's worth on their hardware purchase.

Developers add settings that current PCs struggle to run, like the old days when a new release was 5 seconds per frame, but in a year an a half new hardware was running that at 30fps. And people will now complain their $300 GPU can't run the game full maxed out.

Its worth pointing out that they are using the 'Extreme' settings, which has always been Forza's future proof settings, plus max ray tracing.

One of the main points of PC gaming is being able to adjust settings if and when needed on your paticular hardware.

Turn down to High setings, possibly even Ultra (or some settings on ultra), and 8gb gpu's will probably run this fine.

Before I even opened this thread I was like "let me guess, it can't run the game at 4K max settings with RT?"

That's kinda like the thing these days with 8gb. You can't play high rest textures or run anything max settings but if you buy the higher end gpu it will be fine

Its crazy how so many supposed expert 'tech' sites always do this. Its like AMD and Nvida pay them to spread fud or something so people buy new gpu's.

I had a 8gb 3070 until a few months ago and rarely had any problems running games, even new games.

The game is heavy. I am playing it right now.

On a 5080 with everything extreme including ray tracing and dlss balance. I get between 60 to 70 fps frames . However enabling multi frame gen with a controller even at 4x I didn't notice any input latency so I was able to push that back up to 200+ frames

But yeah, the game will require a 5080 or maybe 5070ti if you want extreme ray tracing.

The thing is .. even turning ray tracing off while playing, I really couldn't tell much of a difference if at all. The cube reflection settings when it's on high it almost does the same job and no extra penalty cost of ray tracing. Which much higher fps to boost. So the option is there for those people that don't want multi frame gen or don't have it ( I honestly couldn't tell the difference while I am playing but each person is more sensitive than others for this kind of stuff (

Something is very wrong there. On my 3080 12GB at 3440x1440p DLSS quality extreme RT I am always at 60~70fps. Or at 4k things become much more heavy for some odd reason.

Yeah everything less then extreme gfx settings is basically unplayable shit if you are a real PC gamer

Ultra Car textures, High environments, everything else high/ultra with rt reflections and high GI. 7100mb~ used on mobile 5070 so f i remember correctly

I mean... The 5080 is twice the power of 3080 give or take. So we are getting about the same frame give or take. Just 4k is shit heavy on ray tracing rendering

Who the fuck maxes a game out on a 8gb card.

What a joke of a video.

This

The video makes no sense:

If you have a 8 GB card you are in the xx50 and xx60 range of NVIDIA cards

Those are weak cards by definition, so you can't expect to run ultra settings on it

Nvidia really boosts performance of BW in their drivers, don't they? 5070ti almost matching 4090 is something new...

Maxed out game runs 60-90fps on 5060Ti, so GPU power is there - GPU is not too weak to run these settings.

And if you watch the video, you will see that EVERY setting runs better on 16GB card, even if the game fits into the vram (again, same GPU power).

This is retarded.

If you got a xx60 level card and you set the game to Extreme Preset + RT and are shocked the performance wasnt great you deserve everything coming to you.
However if you got a xx60 level card and you play with settings fitting of your hardware.......good for you......welcome to PC gaming weve got settings, hell the game should actually auto detect your hardware and give you a great experience...........how is this a 30 minute video??????

Play on High with DLSSQ and youll flying through Tokyo at ~120fps even on the 8GB model..................is this a bad thing?

Fuck off with this clickbait shit.

It's the same xx60 card, one with 16GB VRAM vs another with 8GB VRAM. The 8GB tanks your performance not the GPU model itself.

So they made a poor purchase, should have bought the 16 GB model but guess what? It's more expensive to buy a GPU with double the VRAM

Nobody forced anybody to buy a 8 GB card

Fuck off with this clickbait shit.

You still see much higher performance with 16GB here.

5060ti is fully capable to play this game in Extreme preset+RT in 1080p (and even in 1440p with DLSS) - don't spread bullshit here. Nvidia fucked 8GB card owners, those GPUs shoudn't exist in 2025/2026.

8GB/nvidia defenders are fucking annoying.

Yes, I guess so. It's just people trying to make others aware of this tradeoff.

MCH2024 MCH2024 in other threads for example keeps trying to push 8GB cards as great and more memory as unnecessary.
