II don't care what you call it, how's it's spelled, or what it does if you're not offering me a better product than the competition. Price , features, and exclusives.
Going by rumors they'll have a power advantage.

Feature advantage with access to Steam.

Sony's PC ports could possibly run better than on PlayStation.

Access to mods.

Sony paying for console exclusivity can be dodged through Steam access whenever there is a PC version.

Xbox will also have early access console exclusivity with Steam.

It may not win over the mainstream but it's something especially for us core gamers.
What advantage will Sony have besides their few and far between first party games?
Lower price?
Oh how exciting… 🙄

However, I still agree that first party exclusives is what would make a real difference for the brand at this point. It's that big thing that has been lost. It can't be denied. And I don't think MS dare to go fully exclusive. The flood gates has been opened. So that's a problem. They could in theory sow a seed of uncertainty like Sony do now with PC ports. Get the rumor mill going and see what happens. But they won't do that.

I do think timed exclusivity could happen though. They've seen how games like FH5 can sell on PS5 even years later. If they're clever they keep some timed exclusivity for Xbox and stop announcing PlayStation release dates at the original release. FH6 release strategy is enough, just leave some uncertainty when ports may actually arrive and it'll sell some extra consoles and games. It's how Sony do it on PC. Just keep quiet. It works.

Well said. You forgot few important things.
Gamepass, xCloud, Quick Resume, emulators up to PS4 with Bloodborne, 3 major ecosystems with conceptually Play Anywhere games.

And maybe eGPU support just for the fun of it.

It's her X account too. She basically doing everything herself now
I was shocked how quickly she made the entirety of Microsoft Games reassess their pricing structure for Gamepass…that was nothing compared to how blown my mind was when she created the new start up sequence and logo for XBOX.

Not only is she a master of economic strategy but she is a composer, talented artist, amazing animator AND a coder!

Just WAIT until we see what she has done with their line up of games this year!!

I'm excited for XBOX's future. It's good that they're generating some buzz. Personally I'd be glad if they went back to exclusives lol

One thing for sure. The woman is giving it all to change the disastrous course the Xbox brand was taking, under Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond leadership, but what will really matter will be the games under her leadership, she survives until then.

Agreed! History shhhmistory, a $1,000+ console will definitely light up the charts.

And since Microsoft decided to pull the plug on the Series consoles — products with a combined userbase that sits between 20M-30M units — Microsoft will definitely not pull the plug on an XBOX that sells considerably less. They will definitely change their stripes overnight; no more closing studios, no more firing a bunch of people, no more canceling projects, no more shutting down services (MIXER WILL MAKE A COMEBACK), oh the list is longer than an Xbox shilling article from TheVerge.

xCloud doesn't matter and I wouldn't expect Quick Resume on anything besides Xbox BC.

But still, the big question mark was always if they were even going to do more hardware.
Now that we know it's going to happen, and how, it'll by default be the most feature-rich Xbox ever, because it's bringing in the PC side to consoles.

MS can still stumble on many things though, but in the end it'll still have feature advantage over any other console.

I just woke up, brain is still booting up, so this might be going too far. But listen…If they do it right it can actually be very similar to the Amiga computers! 🤯
Can you see it?
A full-fledged PC, but more compact and easier and with a console UI, but still a PC.
