this actually irritates me. they are always holding a tiny little mic. fucking clip it onto your top or something.

another kind of youtuber that annoys me is the "i'm a girl standing infront of a white board and will spend the next hour explaining something to you"

Exciting news!!!

Just got offered a new job. Got to agree on a start date, but maybe around 3 weeks from now seems fair. I'll tell them Monday. As long as things go well, it'll be my final company and I'll retire around 2030.

Nice salary bump too. Annual bonus is nothing special though. But because of that I goosed them up on salary which they agreed. Overall a decent comp boost.

But man, I tried my hardest to negotiate more vacation time, but they were fucking hard on that. No dice there. I was just asking for one additional week. lol

Not sure what kind of test they giving you, but I've seen it happen. I've never had to do one but I know account managers who had to do a mini presentation based off a case study they got in advance. Then show up for interviews and present it on PPT.

Never seen or heard that before for a finance department role.

I think it was the opposite. Radio and LPs grew together, with records getting free advertising by being broadcast on the radio, and radio getting free use of the records, making their money from advertising, usually for local outlets and such.

You're right I think! This according to "Number 1" (the name i call Google Gemini for almost 2 years now, which it remembers! :messenger_tears_of_joy: ), specifically, 1901-1940s some of the earlier records were made of shellac. Vinyl was brought onto the scene in 1948. Broadcasting through radio started in the 1920's.

It's a bit of a hybrid web development and graphic design role. They have my portfolio so they should be able to make a decision based on that and my previous employment surely.

Not easy in current environment to land a new job, since many companies are in midst of AI revolution. But AI only goes so far. I do finance. I dont think I have ever seen one job description ever that mentioned needing to know AI or use AI tools. Maybe that clerical job that is heavy in admin and process can be booted by AI bot code, but it's hard to replace brain power since you need context when dealing with numbers.

A friend of mine discussed with me today that Disney's handling of Star Wars and Marvel can best be thought of as an allegory of Dead Whale Ecology or a Whale Fall.

It scared the shit out of me how well this metaphor works.

We're overdue for the next big thing. I wonder what it'll be.

80s had action flicks and teen comedies.
90s had the "indie" boom
2000s had fantasy
2010s (starting in the aughts, really) through the mid-2020s have had comic book movies & "extended universes"

We need a new zeitgeist!
