Steam Deck |OT| Nintendo Switch 2

It's actually able to passthrough the power when the device is fully charged, which is even BETTER than using the battery, because it puts 0 wear on the battery while in passthrough mode (the battery icon has an indicator to show the system is running in passthrough off the connected power source).
Oh shit really? Damn that's nice! I never take the device outside the house so I might just try and get used to play while it's connected to the charger.

Thanks!

My Heroic launcher games got fucked. After a few launches, they didn't launch anymore. To fix them, I had to disable umu for every game. And I also had sound issues on Skyrim and had to use winetricks to install xact in order to fix that. This is the first time I had significant issues that required tinkering.

For GOG/Epic/Amazon I would highly recommend the Unifideck-Plugin for Decky Loader

There are games that also don't work this way, but when it works it is like literally one button to install and play PLUS it generates Tabs in the Library especially for each Store and the games you own on them.

So my wife's sister is staying with us and this is her Steam Deck, she's 30 btw, question is, should I kick her out?

It's a Switch 2 in a sanrio case? It's not like anything has been modded into defacement, like a perfectly innocent Steam Deck that expected a dignified life. Don't kick her out, lmao

Ha! I just realized this was her Switch 2. Her steam deck is just as annoying.

its 1080p both of them, screen is a 4k screen tho. but deck can't run that.
Maybe some resolution/overscan setting in the dock if it has some for itself or you should set windows resolution to 4k 3840x2160 and in-game to 50% scale (1080p).

messed around a bit i think its 120hz that messes it all up, if i put the thing on 60hz its fine, when i slap it on 120hz its not. Anyway thanks.

YIKES

512Gb is now $789 and the 1TB is $949. Everything is still OOS. That Steam Machine price is gonna be something

Decided to upgrade from my OG Steam Deck to the OLED version. None of the other handhelds caught my attention even if the raw power is better than the Deck. The Deck is just very convenient and the community is absolutely magnificent with all the plugins and tweaks. So what do you think GAF?

Also I would appreciate it if you lot hit me up with the greatest tweaks, plugins and all that!
Had a bunch before I factoryreset the Deck.

Now I just use

Fantastic for custom fan curve
AutoSuspend for a toast message when my battery drops to 30% and go to sleep mode at 20%
and the lossless scaling plugin in case of I need some fake frames

I like it clean and not that cluttered, no need for other Plugins IMO.

Yeah those are the essentials. I haven't used Fantastic, is it even necessary or just to make the fans quieter?

I have owned the Xbox Ally X, The Ally X and original Ally, I currently own the SD OLED and MSI Claw 8AI plus.
The SD OLED gets used the most often, its honestly just so easy to use and ergonomics are unmatched.

Do not expect to play the latest and greatest AAA games on it though, I mean they will run but mostly 30fps and the upscaling isnt modern enough to create amazing visuals.

That said, indies perfect and streaming your pc/ps5 or geforce now, its perfect and Id highly recommend geforce now and moonlight or even native steam remote play.

I wouldnt recommend the other devices, even with steam os its not designed for those devices and the integrated ease of use of the SD OLED is genuinely amazing.

I've got the Delta fan, which is probably the worst fan you can have in the Deck, but as I've got nothing to compare it with, I don't really mind - though I do like to set the fan to a slightly higher speed than the Deck would, to keep the temps cooler, and that way I probably get a more consistent fan noise, rather than hearing it rev up, slow down, rev up, slow down …

I already use my steam deck for indies and lightweight games. I have a monster rig for all those heavy AAA games so no worries here at all. I have to agree with the ergonomics man + the steamOS. Simply magnificent
