• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Older gaf are old are you?

And in your 30s and onward, you go years with few things that leave a mark and it feels like you can barely remember what happened last year
100%. I was scrolling through my Steam library and saw games I played that I would've sworn were more recent. Turns out they were from years ago. I literally had a 'What do you mean that was two years ago?' moment

It honestly felt like yesterday. Time moves differently once you're in your 30s

43.

I was a virgin underage when I started browsing gaming age...

I miss those times with the epic E3 threads!
It's a pity how miserable things are now.

Heh, I replayed the Tomb Raider survivor trilogy recently. When I loaded up the first game, there was an old save in there from just over 10 years ago... :messenger_hushed:

Just turned 36.

Lurked GAF from around age 18 and got my membership approved around age 19-20 from memory.

Used to go by M_Night but the entire Jbaird incident on here was funny enough to warrant crystalising it into my username

Over 50, under 55. The secret to"I feel young" is that you are the same person mentally. Which is kind of weird as I expected to just be...different. :D

Edit: this thread could have the "I was there before everything turned to shit" subtitle.

You're probably exaggerating but trust me, you don't want it. I've been that guy for years. Luckily I moved and now I live in a nice quiet little town

There's honestly nothing worse than other people effectively deciding when you can sleep and wake up when you really think about it
Those towns still exist in our country? Guess I'm spending too much time in Norway.

37.
Old enough to remember blowing the dust off SNES carts to get em, to work, but young enough to know how to covert a file to PDF.
Old enough to have a bad back, young enough to not fall for dumbass clickbait/scams on Facebook. (But apparently old enough to use Facebook)

Over 50 and under 55

Old enough to remember wooden consoles and zx81 ram packs that didn't quite fit. Sitting for 10 mins listening to a tape load, then crash at the end. The sega v Nintendo battle and the joy of finishing afterburner, on an arcade machine that a teenage me found on holiday 😎

Even became a first time grandad last week ❤️. Still feel around 30 ish physically, when not suffering old guy pain 😬😂. Although I do miss a good game of football, as everyone around me retired 😱. I did make an effort a few years back to dress like a dad and dropped a little weight with some eating choices and a solid 5 mile daily walk. Now I can roughly maintain and I am one size of jeans above what I wore in my 20s 😎

Time seemed to just pass, then the kids turned up and it was like someone stepped on the gas 😬😱

But apart from some silver fox hair, which helps me look good in a suite. Things aren't 3 bad, as I get into me 5th decade and most of which have seen me with a console (or a pc back in the day) by my side and me still humming and ha-ing. About what to play, some days 😂.

And of course a daily visit with all my other fellow slowly growing older lunatics. Here on gaf 👍😁

Yeah man, at least for my tastes

I came from an extremely noisy social housing apartment with families living all around me. It was absolutely insane.

By the end, all of the residents were Syrian refugees who literally didn't speak English or Dutch, which made communication difficult on top of everything else. I can't explain how relieved I am that it's finally over.

I hope Norway is treating you well

Hitting 40 this July, good job great income no wife and kids and surprisingly loving the gym and in an amazing shape, life is great.

I can kinda imagine. Never was much of a (big) city person myself, eventhough I grew up in one and still live in a suburb of it. Good to see you settled somewhere else that allows for more, as I call it: peace and quiet.

I hope Norway is treating you well
It is. My social life outside of gaming is surprisingly way bigger in Norway than it is in NL. Yet it's still hard to make the move permanently considering how close I am with my family and having a very solid career is also not something I want to bid farewell, if I can't get anything similar going in Norway. For now, I just go back and forth once or twice a year. Works well enough for now and my boss is more than okay with it.

Let's say very mid-30s.

I am surprised how old everyone else. I thought I was one of the older people here. I better not see you guys participating in console wars. You're old and grizzled and should be tired of war by now.

There is no console wars, the release of the Magnavox Odyssey put all those young whippersnapper consoles released by these new fangled companies, firmly in their place.
