Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

hair is definitely next gen. i dont think this kind of game needs rt reflections. lighting is fine too. alan wake 2 also had baked lighting.

this to me looks way better than the ragnorak forest. way more foliage and way better indirect lighting and ao.

Her skin shader is PS3 gen - no SSS? Where is indirect lighting, ao and shadows on her face?

Hair are not even close to hairstrands.

I mean ...GOW 2018 treated the fantasy setting with a lot more respect and subtlety and was as a result a much more mature and grounded story
that opening scene turned what was told as a poignant story of pain and heartache into just a casual and lazy starting point for Faye's journey
I don't mind her story being more light-hearted but I wish they'd take their time with it

The fact that sony first party dissapointed after disappointed until the end of generation make people's overlap their only very small great looking titles and put them on same category of the other trash looking titles, I like how great looking Faye game, but sony first party as whole deserves that fuck them all, they didn't came this generation
 
Dude stop cherry picking shots and take a break. Me and others have shared shots of 2018 and Ragnarok that look right at home with Laufey.
Compare similar location, you will see the difference, i did not cherry picking, I just try to compare similar settings to show difference

Yeah, literally nothing here looks like a generation leap over God of War 2018
If it maximized the PS5 at 30FPS with a resolution of around 1440p/1200p, we would've gotten a much more "next-gen" looking game, despite seemingly not having UE5-style Nanite geometry or very extensive RT effects, they could've pushed it in numerous alternative ways to give off a much more satisfying & tantalizing levels off fidelity, but oh well...it still looks great, the animations & models (at times) look sublime, also visual effects looks great too.

As for Wolverine, IDK what the heck was that, looked like Crackdown 3 or something. 😵

This looked better than anything else they showed. By quite a lot. Which makes me suspicious…

Didn't think Wolverine looked as bad as many are saying. And imo the GOW thing looked good but not some crazy leap from ragnarok

-FAYE looks at least current gen title, for me its at top small list
- Intergalactic didn't show up.
- guerilla work on bullshit cartonish title
-all released first party up until now looks like ps4 titles
That's the current state of sony first party studios, hopefully intergalactic show up at sgf

IDK what went with Wolverine but I know for a fact that this game went through some sort of development & direction hell, this isn't the Insomniac I know.

It's not even about the graphical quality, which are pretty outdated by today's standards. It's the animations, the lack of cinematic polish, it looked too inchoate & incomplete, it doesn't seem to have taken enough time to properly flesh out in a comprehensive manner, it's as if every set piece, gameplay segment, assets & animations were glued together by a bunch of loose bandages...
 
Man, their siren lights cast shadows even on destructible objects. Might be lumen + megalights. Starting to wonder if it's prerendered as it's all a bit too good to be true. Guess we have a few more days to find out if all this holds up in gameplay:

The destruction is accurately getting reflected on the roof of the car too, even when the angle visible in the reflection is not in screen space.

Now watch it flip below. The light stays on the back of the destroyed statue for 1 extra frame, which is unrealistic, but actually makes this a bit more believable as in-game. You can see it flipping over and the blue light disappearing in the reflection as well, all within consecutive frames. To pull this off in realtime, they would need to update or rebuild the BVH every frame (which is the direction most cutting edge BVH tech is going towards). This is next gen stuff. Hardware lumen for sure (+potentially megalights). I think only high end PCs would be able to pull this off at the moment.

Impressive games from State of Play:

God of War Laufey: Updates in engine. Increased polycount, density, animation quality, cinematic,, particle effects, hair quality, face animation

Tomb Raider: Overall density and polish, character models

Wolverine: Big improvement form early screens, density, animation, polish, detail and cinematic presentation

ILL: Looks almost like a PS6 game amazing visuals.

Wolverine sucks donkey dick.... God of War Faye looks proper current gen with RTGI all over the place. Anyone saying this looks like GoW 2018 or Ragnarok is trolling (looking at you, Bojji Bojji ).
Im willing to give Wolverine another chance... When it launches.

If I recall, SpiderMan 2 had a TERRIBLE gameplay reveal, the actual game looked much much better, including that same section. The trafic density, the swining and flying through cities, were legit very next gen. only thing that looked bad was the cutscenes and characters

Spider-Man 2 regularly looks bad as well and the game itself was a big disappointment.
 
The transaction between gameplay and cutscenes are amazing and have no downgrades as usual from santa monica studio

Also below is some of best from Ragnarok on pc, Faye looks clearly better on all aspects
 
Grabbed Fatekeeper, I don't normally buy EA games, but this one needs to scratch my Dark Messiah itch.
Looks amazing, some textures are weak, lots of collision clipping, but the geometry and lighting make up for it and it's probably gonna be fixed by the time it releases.
