Marvel's Wolverine | Full Gameplay Reveal

Full accessibility features below.

Full customization for gore.

Looks like dismemberment is in the game, they disabled it for the video/censorship

Hype + 1
They dont say that it was disabled for the demo and you can see a leg being cut off in a finisher, i think dismemb was in the demo, it is just very tame and situational.

The game is a +18 game already, kids cant buy this stuff (in theory), it make no sense to censor what is an element that wolverine fans enjoy like the extreme gore.

Yeah there is way way too much blood (makes it look cartoony) and not enough gore.

Starting with Spider-Man 2, I really disliked the art style and costumes in Imsoniac. These high-tech uniforms are awful and completely at odds with their characters; they remind me of Marvel's trend of making all the costumes look like they were designed by Iron Man.

Maybe you already know, but you can lower the blood if its too much for you.

Funny, I always thought Mortal Kombat games were much more gruesome than something like this.

I love Wolverine Origins (2008 Ravensoft) but even it cant escape wolverines limitations. He only has claws, doesnt use gun, heals so fast that he is nearly invincible so this leads to natural very repepetive gameplay. I knew way before this trailer this would be the largest hurdle for insominac to overcome and was almost certain they wouldnt. It is what it is.

On a side note I also kinda think this issue extends to pretty much all the xmen. They just dont have enough variety of moves for there own solo games. They should really consider going the forgtotten realms demonstone route and have a hot key to switch between x-men on the fly so you can organize group dynamics during a fight if they ever make an x-men game.
Last of us kinda design can fix this issue. Each level is a very different scenario. Instead of the same formula. For example in one levels wolverine's healing factor is disabled, he needs stealth. One level is platforming based where you can fall to your death. One level you are up against magneto, one level is just driving etc.

Not gonna defend it becuase I still think it's Spider-Man 2 reskinned + on rails but, the SOPs have no age restriction and they know everyone from grown ass men to 8yearolds could be watching, so they cover all bases...

All the more reason we need an Iron Man game.

Huge variety of melee and projectile attacks, tons of suits and upgrades possible, ground and flight, and he's not invincible (no superhuman durability or healing factor)

This feels like a woke game without the woke.

Stick with me. Like it just has that sour off-brand feel even though there's no sign of the studio prioritizing identity politics over quality - they just made doo-doo all on their own.

Something just tastes …off. I think a lot of it is the art style. They should have gone for like "next-gen cell shading" and tried to make this game pop like a 90's comic. Go deep on detail but give it that cartoony look. Plus, it's not often we get a gory cell-shaded game so that would have been fun.

That is a very different looking Callisto that I remember. In the 80's (when I read X-Men) she was nasty looking. Like David Bowie with dark hair, pretty much looking like a dude. It just depends on who draws the characters and which era.
That being said, I really don't like the costume aspect of the characters. Jean looks super generic early 00's movie, can't even tell it's her aside from red hair. Sabertooth also looks like the WWE version from the 00's movies. Wolverine is okay but a bit overdone. I'm still excited to play the game but the character designs are pretty live action, man in costume looking.
Leech looked cool though.

I'd love it if Spider Man 3 actually wasn't open world New York again and Spider Man went to cool locations like Wolverine seems to be doing.

It would be like Shattered Dimensions kinda. Secretly a really good Spider Man game.

Just wondering if Wolverine will have some kind of mission where he has to clean his girlfriends apartment? Or can he help a blind person in a mission? How about get some lgb character to fall in love? I'm hoping for all these super important tasks and more in this new Wolverine game!

Honestly, the gameplay looks brutal and exactly what a Wolverine game needs to be. For years, everyone here has been complaining about forced open-world fatigue and begging for linear games with great pacing and setpieces like the PS3 Uncharted era. Now that we finally get exactly that, none of it seems to matter anymore just because people are obsessed with whether a female character looks 'hot' or not.

Insomniac has delivered nothing but bangers this entire generation. I'm just here for the actual game, and this looks fantastic.

The modeling, combat, blood, and environmental destruction are great.

The problem seems to be the lighting.

In the same area in the old trailer, the lighting was better.

I don't know if this is an artistic change or if they had to worsen the lighting.

See at the end of the day, the problem is, they've literally made the ugliest version of Jean that exists, and that says a lot given how many movies she has appeared in.

Even just the costume design, is somehow worse than the original X-Men movies from 2000 where they just wore black suits, and that was pretty much a low point for costume design.

Spent some time today looking at all the video reactions like I do sometimes after big showcases. And everyone I've watched is loving the blood and whatever gore that's being shown.

So why is it the people on forums specifically that have a problem with it? And why isn't it bad when Mortal Kombat does it? In fact I think Mortal Kombat is even more gruesome with those fatalities than what we see in this lol.

So.... Is this a joke?

Wow Sweet Baby Inc really earned their money on this one.

Read below:

And you guys don't see the problem.

Here's an example from today.

They think the word 'Men' was removed from X‑Men because SweetBaby Inc. was involved. They didn't even bother to read the article.

61tqzbCzrvL._SY445_SX342_FMwebp_.jpg

Team X is not the X-Men. They believe X-Men are being changed to Team-X. They're an entirely different team. The X-Men are a team led by Charles Xavier. There are other teams with "X" within the X-Men universe.

X-Force
X-Factor
X-Corp

..and more.

I mean, we'll see, but the problem could be more to do with certain countries not allowing or at least would require censorship of that kind of thing and even an 18 rating won't cover it. China for example don't really like it, blood is fine but dismemberment is pretty much a no-no afaik. The only real visible dismemberment in that footage is the leg, and it's a robot leg at that. But we'll see, maybe they have toned it down a lot in general or maybe it is just for this footage, I'm guessing it will be brought up at some point before release just like puddle gate.

……

Read the tweet;

"It's our own unique take on the world, and as such, we are putting it in modern times"
And?

It's their take on it, we always knew that, the beats will be there they just won't align with any films or comics.

They are saying the game is set in modern times and the X-Men don't yet exist. By modern times in the films and comics they do exist, so the timelines are different.

That's how I read it at least, we know they are making an X-Men game, so how can they be removing the X-Men yet still make a game about them?

It starts with a disclaimer

And ill and until dawn 2 were in the same show.

I don't think they purposely toned it down

Your interpretation of that statement, and the context it is made in, is wrong.

Is the fact they are making an X Men game wrong?

Again, how can they remove X-Men from the lore if they are making an X-Men game?

Team-X exists in the comics they aren't just making it up and replacing X-Men

They are not removing it from the overall lore, in an X-men branded game they are respecting Marvel's license agreements, but in a game about Wolverine where they are allowed to make it their own unique take they are taking it in (their) modern world (for modern audiences)… hence they do not have the X-men team but Team X or X Team (of course some of this might be also related to a difference license agreements, aka more money to pay, if they had wanted to use the X-men branding too on top of Wolverine but it is more of a happy coincidence going in the same direction I would think).

Team X is the original team that Wolverine was in before he joined X-Men, it was Logan, Sabertooth, Deadpool and John Wraith. Team X was during the cold war in the comics but they have changed that so it's in modern times (that does not mean 'modern audience')

We can see Logan, Sabertooth and Deadpool (edit: that may not be Deadpool on the trailer actually) in the trailer

It won't be a licensing issue just to mention X-Men in a Wolverine game especially as they have the license for an X-Men game, they want Sabertooth etc in this game so for now at least the X-Men dont yet exist (well, they may do, maybe that's something we find out as Jean Gray and Mistique are in it)

Will wait for reviews and the final version of the game to see if it's worth it. Wasn't the graphics of Yotei a ps4 game too?

I can't forgive you for the sin of liking such a gay sentence.

Naw, that goes hard, bars and all that. Doubly so since it's Nightcrawler and has the whole religious angle too.

I could quote some WH40k quotes to you, but I think you'd find those equally gay, for some there is just no hope.

Yes, let's get back on target. My previous post, that this is the UGLIEST outfit they have ever had in a cannon X-Men anything that exists of Jean Grey, and the ugliest Jean Grey as well. Prove me wrong.

Sony's formula is tired.
Yes, pretty uninspired.
A Farcry style outpost followed by a brawl with Jean Grey, then another one on top of the truck. Rest is cutscenes.
Combat looks fun and Im sure I'll be a fun romp overall but not day one for me. I'm not into X-men.

So.... Is this a joke?

Is there anyone in here that still denies Sweet Baby Inc?
Probably abolished the term because it uses "men".
Anyone who expects this to be a male focused game will be in for a huge dissapointment. I garantee Logan will be lecture and roasted in every opportunity.

X-men franchise is doomed.

I think 18yo me would be into this. But I feel like I've already played this game many times over to even remotely be excited.

What ? didn't pay attention to any of that, you have got to be fucking kidding me...

Imagine the word "X-Men" being a trigger for some people...

Watched 60s. It looks fun. I'll buy it. But there's other games in that release window I'd rather lend my immediate support to the studios for. So I'll grab it later in the year.
