The Asylum at it again lol
Spielberg has been obsessed with this topic since the 1970s. The guy directed Close Encounters of the Third Kind in the 70s and E.T. in the 80s. He basically built the launchpad for the entire modern cultural interest in this topicYawn.
Sorry this just does not look captivating.
Just another part of the ridiculous "UFO disclosure" trend going around with Spielberg shilling.
What's he shilling?Yawn.

You know this is exactly what it's going to be.Lets hope it's not another "we're actually the bad guys and need to to welcome aliens"
Pro Alien "aka immigrant" propaganda. What's he shilling?
I like the idea that the aliens are landing their spaceship at some car park in the middle of nowhere and passing Spielberg a bag stuffed with money.Pro Alien "aka immigrant" propaganda.
New and final trailer
You might want to skip this trailer, it contains a pretty major spoiler that the other spoiler-heavy trailers didn't reveal
not to spoil anything, but thinking back to watching this the other night I realised a lot of similarities in the film and the Varginha ufo incident (a real case in Brazil) that Spielberg was clearly inspired by... quite interesting.
It's notable because of all the millions of UFO bullshit cases, this one had many multiples of whitnesses, evidence, unexplained deaths documented. As far as 'legit' stories go, this one was up there.
That Brazil case has been debunked a long time ago.
An official 1996 investigation by the Brazilian Army concluded that no UFO or aliens existed in Varginha. The military stated that a local man with mental disabilities, who was known to roam the area crouched down, was simply mistaken for a creature. There. A simple misidentification confirmed by the military.
They also added that the military maneuvers that day were entirely routine. The two combined created mass hysteria and mass unified hallucinations. It was probably also hot that day and people can see things if they're dehydrated.
I used to be a believer, but when you look into every case they're very easy to debunk. Very easy. Name any UFO case and I can promise I can debunk it.
Agreed. I'm the biggest skeptic on the subject as can be to be honest. It's been a long time since I read about that case, so prolly just missed it. It was a very long time ago now, I can remember it being on the news at the time and it sounding legit. It was a hysteria.
Yep.
Same with military personal and fighter pilots. All their seeing are clouds, birds, drones etc. They may think they see a tic tac shaped object moving at incredible speeds, but they're wrong. I've not seen any UFO footage, photo or heard any story that is convincing.
oddly, I'm more open minded about "ghosts" due to an experience I had that I cannot for the life of me explain. I'm not suggesting it was the sprit of the dead, but it's not something I can't explain easily.
I've worked in military intelligence and national security for 25 years brother, so my take is a lot different to say the least - but I remain a heavy skeptic purely because I know how the system works at least in the UK when it comes to this subject. Let me say though, I have both seen 'some' and heard 'some more' things from obviously classified sources and projects just by nature of being 'on site', and have got myself into big trouble more than once for lingering around places I shouldn't have for too long.
In the real world, at least from my experience in this industry I would say 98% of it is usually military technology that the public and even most high ranking military people do not know about or have clearance to know about. Work friends have debunked a lot of things to me in the past when I asked about it.
Now that out of the way, and to be clear I'm not some LARPER here etc.... think I posted before in this board somewhere a while ago, I spent a fair bit of my training time and work time at MOD Woodbridge here in the UK (Suffolk) during the early 2000's and worked around the site alongside people, who obviously talk especially on drinking nights.
One guy who was very well respected old timer, retired and suffering from what I can only describe as 'retirement fatigue' aka, bro just spent his entire life in the air force and didn't know how to retire to civilian life.... well this guy was actually working there during the 1980s when it was known as a different name. There is a very famous UK case you may know about. The stuff that guy told me on a night out was absolutely insane. He was obviously not supposed to divulge classified info to a scrub like me despite us being loose friends and having built trust over the years, but he got extremely upset with my superior at the time who would constantly press him on telling us about the little green men and shit like that to which we all know was bullshit and trolling. However, one night he told us that the UK government came down so hard on people who talked about that case in the 80's that his own grandson's life had been threatened should he have said anything about the files he was dealing with on the Rendlesham case. I don't know if it is true or not and have obviously no way of verifying it, but he sure as shit believe it so, and got very emotional and aggressive when pressed on the subject.
That is all he said, but you could tell he had the fear of god in him. I looked that mf dead in the eyes and said 'was that case legit, then?' and he looked me back square in the eye and said 'there are things I saw in that report that keep me up at night 40 years later. The public, and especially young folks like you, will and should never know the truth about it' and he said it with such reverence that it gave me the willies. Fun story for ya...
I forgot about the Rendlesham Forest case.
I take back what I said. That one I cannot debunk. People have tried, from claiming it was the nearby lighthouse to a prank made on the US troops by the SAS. No of those explanations hold when you listen to the tape recordings (they're on YT).
It's also been explained as "experimental aircraft" but I've always disliked that explanation for anything that is a UAP. This is a case from 1980. 46 years ago. If that tech existed in 1980 then it would be common place today.
Regarding the story you were old about the old timer, yeah, I can believe that. Let's pretend for a moment that this is all real and governments know aliens are visiting the planet. And when I mean governments, I don't mean the current party in power. No way would the UK PM be told about this. This would be info only known in the depths of Whitehall if it were real. Anyway, if this were the case, they would do everything in their power to stop this from becoming public.
The reason for this is because in 1980 revealing that aliens are real and are visiting the planet would cause global meltdown. I'd actually go so far to say that it would even cause mass panic today, because it would tank the stock markets. One thing that we do know is historically, markets hate uncertainty, and telling the world aliens are here would create real uncertainty.
oddly, I'm more open minded about "ghosts" due to an experience I had that I cannot for the life of me explain. I'm not suggesting it was the sprit of the dead, but it's not something I can't explain easily.
It's an amazing story to learn about. I have not a clue if it was us, aliens, Russians, time travellers etc
but I know for an 'almost fact' that the highest ranking intelligence folk at that time were completely stumped by it, which is ominous as fuck.
This was not just 'any' RAF base at the time. It was basically ground zero for military tech. All of our secret projects went through there. The US stored experimental planes and weapons there, it was basically the UK's area 51 ffs. Not the case now but it 100% was back in the 80's. You needed several levels of clearance and security to even know it's exact location.
It wouldn't have been man made. We would have seen this tech in action today if it was.
Time travel is an interesting theory, but honestly aliens are more believable than time travel.
When the smartest people in the room are stumped, then you pay attention. It's why I don't buy the lighthouse theory. They would have thought of that and no way could a group of military personal mistake a lighthouse for a UFO.
Probably explains why that thing appeared there. I'm not saying aliens, but I'm with you. Something very strange happened that night.
Oh shit, you are also from Brazil? lolnot to spoil anything, but thinking back to watching this the other night I realised a lot of similarities in the film and the Varginha ufo incident (a real case in Brazil) that Spielberg was clearly inspired by... quite interesting.

nah man I am not from Brazil! just familiar with the case, it was pretty famous worldwide.Oh shit, you are also from Brazil? lol
Always funny to find another brazilian on Gaf randomly
My dad is certain that the movie will be used to announce that ETs are real (since White House is releasing some ET files etc.)
LOL , poor old man
I'm a Spielberg fan but trailers didnt excite me at all

Who tf has the right to hide physical reality from the public.
Breakaway civilization, or visitors from long ago that have stuck around is my guess.
