Jez Corden: "Xbox fans rally against Shift Up for 'Stellar Blade' — which is now exclusively NOT on Xbox Series X|S"

Thing is the game was never announced as multiplat in the first place. MS bought themselves some exclusives, but the only example I know from them of doing this on a multiplat series is Rise of the Tomb Raider.

While Sony have been doing this for multiplat series since like forever, and entered the market doing this. And Stellar Blade was previously announced as multiplat.

At least you agree the practice is shit, unlike others who are just going to defend it because "MS too" (even if the scale is largely smaller).

I think Xbox did Stalker 2 recently but that was a sequel to a cult classic that was only on PC up until PS4 / Xbox one so make that what you will. I see it pop up when people are complaining of moneyhats.

Its all shit, like you said. Everyones done it at some point but I think the most egregious examples are FFVII and the Tomb raider franchise on PS1, to my knowledge.

Radical_3d Radical_3d We are only discussing that Sony pretty much invented the playbook on Moneyhats. Yes, Microsoft heavily adopted it in the 360 era I completely agree.

Ok, bazza.

When the 8 to 16 bits computers wars was on I was a happy rose tinted cheeks boy with my Spectrum and my Master System, but I'm pretty sure there are examples from early on.

Nintendo didn't pay for that. :) But, I imagine there were other exclusivity deals done from both Sega and Nintendo. I really am not 100 percent sure. My point is, when they really hit their stride were when Sony did the moves such as FF VII and Tomb raider.

I mean, Lara Croft pretty much became Sonys mascot because they nailed the moneyhats so well.

When people discuss this stuff, its only because its industry knowledge that they were using moneyhats as a key part of their business strat for the last 30 years like cireza cireza said. Thats just common knowledge.

I think the FFVII is just that Square found out that Nintendo weren't using CDs when they were 2CDs in of development. And the cartridge fee was abysmal for what've heard. Tomb Raider actually released before in my beloved Saturn. I remember going to a friend's place and see him carefully calculating a jump just to end up in some spikes. And about how many time they've been doing it: less than Microsoft, that money-hatted MS-DOS. Again, complaining about Sony buying temporal exclusives in a Microsoft thread is ballsy to say the least. We know they are bigger. We know what their intentions were (written by their very own executives on emails). And we know how they behave once they are the only ones in a market. I only feel for their demise because they were keeping Sony in check and actually had a handful of good ideas over the years. But trying to play underdog here is ridiculous.

I saw a tweet where someone said FF7R didn't receive a Xbox announcement until the release date for Switch was announced. This true?

Because I guess there's still some bit of hope left.

Why waste resource developing a game for a dead console? Stellar Blade main market is Asia, and Xbox is dead over there.

Unless Microsoft lends a hand at development cost, nothing can be done to persuade Shift Up to waste their own time and money creating an Xbox port.

I couldnt care less about the Stellar Blade games.

How old is the main character btw? She looks like she is 14-15 years old? Gives me all the wrong vibes cos she is too young. I like to play a game and not feel like a paedo.
Well, they are avoiding your favorite box like the plague so you win i guess.....

Sony making a deal with Shift Up for Stellar Blade is old news. I am not sure that it matters anymore with a Nintendo port. Obviously Sony is not preventing Shift Up from releasing it on other platforms now. XBOX is coming off of a decent show over the weekend and this is where Jez decides to go? XBOX fans love to be the victim.

People are actually buying the switch 2
And most of these genuies dont realize that Switch 2 also has another important advantage over the XSS. It has 12GB of RAM, while the XSS has only 10.

Going with 10GB of RAM instead of at least 12 (ideally 16 like the XSX), is probably the most underrated blunder of the Xbox Series era.

If rumors are to be believed, Sony plans to keep memory close enough on their upcoming handhelds to the main console.

Bioshock, GTA 4 episodes, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Mass Effect, Splinter Cell conviction.
Bioshock was a new game, it did not have PS releases yet. Same for Mass Effect. For GTA we are talking about a DLC right ?

So that leaves us with Tomb Raider and Splinter Cell. Both games arrived one year later on PS. So basically the same situation as Silent Hill 2 recently, that was blocked for one year on PS.

What about Street Fighter V though ? The game still has to release on Xbox. While IV was highly successful on Xbox and the platform of choice for EVO tournaments. PS came, bought SFV and bought EVO. How awesome is that ?
All Final Fantasy games were blocked until Sony sold its shares in Square-Enix. Eventually arrived in 2019 lol.
Even after this, FF VII Remake and XVI have been blocked for years.

Exactly. There's currently multiple reasons not to port to Xbox and the difficulty involved with the series s is a huge one.

That plus the sales being completely static just makes skipping the platform an obvious choice unless Microsoft pays you extra.

No, expansions with new stories and new characters (odd to consider they never bothered to do that again), like Liberty City stories and Vice City stories
It was two DLCs that were released 1 year later on PS3 if I am not mistaken.

The Switch 2 also has 12GB of RAM. Yes there is a big difference between 10 and 12.

RAM has always been the biggest headaches for XSS.

Fucking series s man, could have been a brilliant little box with 12gb of memory.

I still respect the thing, my kids moved on from pc so I just grabbed one of their old ones and took it away with me. So small and cool for 90 recent of titles but that memory situation is an embarrassment.

Created a headache for everyone.

The state of Xbox in general but especially their influencers, stinks.

What do the big xbox fans here seriously think about these people? Adams Apple have any opinion?

Not a fan of any of them to be honest, been a detriment if anything, clearly in it for themselves, if they were not they would of been in the least bit truthful about the state of things and the leadership team over the years.
