Double Fine after pottery game

Double Fine most likely, as much as i hate MS, cant blame them for it too.
you dont get to waste 6 years to release 2 of the worst performing xbox games ever back to back.
comically mismanaged studio, all you had to do was an old school adventure game.

I dunno. They've been around forever. People make weird quirky games that blow up on Steam all the time. Double Fine makes weird quirky games that nobody at all cares about. Even their kickstarter game that raised 3 million with Frodo I haven't seen anyone talk about in years and years.

Yeah, post-360 era I haven't really care about any of their games barring it was nice to see Psychonauts back...which is really the best thing they've ever made.

Too many of their quirky games never have enough meat to the gameplay, and focus way too much on presentation.

Obsidian is likely safe as they actually release games, even if they don't do too hot. Rare and Double Fine though are probably not long for this world.

"Sadly pre-orders are not where they need to be so we are closing Inxile and The Coalition."

1. Double Fine - makes games nobody cares about
2. Arkane - likely years away and hundreds of millions of dollars from delivering blade
3. Compulsion - just shipped a game nobody cared about, shut them down before they get too deep in the next

that's my guess in order of likelihood

I for one don't give a shit
These people are paying the price for M$ choosing to cater to 257 fanboys on X by not releasing E-Day on PS5. The 4-5 million copies it would sell would save so many jobs. Cunts.
aw yes…. I'm sure they made the decision to lay off people because of one fucking game being exclusive

The tardation is strong

MS is not touching any Activision-Blizzard studio. The only reason Xbox is alive is literally because of the Activision-Blizzard purchase.

Double Fine will never be shut down because it's a PR headache as the whole "game journalist" cartel will push hard against this.

This is obviously just a guess but I think it's Compulsion or Turn 10 and cuts across all studios.

turn 10 is a good guess. clearly horizon is the main franchise and fartza motorsport was a total bomba

They'll buy Sega and shut it down when they find out they've been working on Shenmue 4 and it's only a couple of years from release.

Double Fine is in trouble. No way they can survive 2 flops in a row.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but big companies need to stop subsidizing these smaller budget developers who don't produce. Too many Indie or Indie-esque developers who are putting out bangers to make excuses like, "It's for diverse content". It's already been proven that doesn't have to be synonymous with "commercial failure".

If anyone is shut down in the future, they might shut down Sledgehammer Games and have some of them absorbed into Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

Sledgehammer, as much as I hate to admit it because I like CoD WW2, is a redundant studio who has done more assist-jobs for CoD than solo ones, and their solo works have had a spotty reception, which is not good enough for the millions spent and that also slowly decays the CoD brand itself.

5 million copies of their $50 cut from Sony is $250,000,000. That would pay 500 employees $100,000 per year for 5 years or 1000 employees $100,000 per year for 2.5 years.

Please don't simp for billion dollar corporations. It's cringe.

People saying Rare must not be aware of their successful live service game. It's gotta be DoubleFine or Compulsion. Hopefully Compulsion.

Rare are an embarrassment. The day Microsoft bought them was one of the worst days in gaming history. They were one of the best devs in the industry and now they're a disgusting mess that should change there name and rebrand instead of tarnishing there legacy even more than they already have.

You're stuck in a time long long ago. Sea of Thieves is good and successful. Sorry it isn't what you wanted.

For that studio? Yeah it would probably come down to that.

They decided to make Keeper and Kiln exclusive too. It certainly would have helped Double Fine to have more sales. Same with any studios really. If you're making a game for some low installbase already it would probably help a fair bit. Certainly doesn't guarantee it though.

This is why I feel exclusives can be horrible if studios end up shutting down over having games released on one platform. Bluepoint studios might have been saved had they launched demon souls remake on other platforms.
