Gothic Remake |OT| Return to the Colony

I know all of that, i just want to know how much they close the doors to you, can you still do some quests or they refuse to talk to you entirely? Asking to google give mixed results.

You are gonna replay the game and that ok, personally, i'm gonna try to squeeze as much as i can in my first and only run.

If joining early cut off 2\3 of the content i guess i'm just gonna stay with my shitty armour doing quest for everyone before joining :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
Doesn't that completely disarm the dopamine pop you're supposed to get by watching your decisions play out organically?

I have some friends who work in the studio who made it, and they are very happy with the release sales and Steam numbers. They're focused now on some additional bugfixing and tweaks.

So report them bugs and tweaks in whatever channels they have (I have no idea), pretty likely they'll check it.

Tell them to fix the lame-ass "master stance" for one handed weapons!
The original game was way cooler in this sense.

I'm not sure if i understand what you say, but i'm perfectly ok with not being able to do the other camps main quest, that is normal if i join another camp, i dont want aniother skyrim where you can join every faction with no penalties whatsoever.

But not being able to do even the small sidequest? especially when the lore and world itself is showing me that people from other camps can have decent relations between each other? seems a bit forced.

I mean, i got a free armour in the new camp just by entering the mine and asking to mine, no control if it was true, no control over me mining 200 ores and keeping them for me, it seems like the rules of this world are not super strict so why being super strict just because you join a camp?

I got quest from all 3 camps and i can assure you, being campless doesn't mean that i cant fuck them over and keep what they give to me for myself without even doing the quest, the absurd difference in trust between being campless and chosing a camp is a bit too much, joining a camp would not make a difference, if i'm a piece of shit, i'm the same with a camp behind me or solo, not sure if i'm clear.

It's not a huge deal other than dying in 2 hits because i have no decent armour and my dude looking like an hobo even if i can already beat 2 of the 3 guys in the arena...at least i can do a lot of quest and get exp...

Yeah, sales seems to be amazing. I would have never expected that. Super happy for the devs!

Gamers are starved for these kind of experiences.

I'll take more remakes of this caliber from them.

I'm gone for work for 2 days but plan to get to the illustrious drug lords of the swamp soon.

I was going back from new camp and went the wrong way to mines. Made some sick money off this chest and key quest god damn!

I want to go back to old camp and level lock picking cuz at base LP I can't open jack shit.

Is it the one where you have to pay the lazy miner to give you hints?

There was a dude who asked me to distract someone so he can open the chest.

I go to the dude, he walks off. Go back to this guy he pays me 10 nuggets, then offers me the key for the chest for 30 nuggets. I do it, open chest for the items and nuggets inside. Then I go back to the guy I distracted to give him back his key for more nuggets.

Extortion level 100.💯

Oh ok so a different quest i didn't found yet.

Gothic Remake is the first game that has forced me to learn the names and remember the faces of every single character, mostly because of necessity lol
if it can help, you have a glossary with all the faces and description of all the people you meet, it even tells you if they are pissed off with you.

I just put the icons in the map for vendors and masters and quest givers :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Think I'm gonna play this on pc... I wanted that platinum but that fucking permadeath trophy is total ass... It's too long of a game imo to enjoy a run like that, but the 60 fps is decent on ps5 still needs tweaked.. But like I said think I'm gonna play this on my pc.

Seems like an awesome remake. I'd love to see Risen get one eventually

Is it me, or the game looks kinda washed out and foggy a lot of times except at night or early in the morning?

I'm reading that people already made mods to remove this foggy look or to change ingame contrasts settings etc.

Is it an artistic choice that i dont like or do i need to change something in my settings...

Maybe i'm gonna post some screens later.

Hmm, when i look at youtube videos it may look too washed out but when i play it personally i looks good.
Maybe the lighting is off in later environments not as refined as the starting area idk.

This lockpicking shit is killing me, I'm stuck on several questlines cause I can't open a chest to save my life.
Also stalked n killed the jerk that punches you in the face when you arrive in the colony. Dropped a decent sword n crossbow but no armor, I can literally see the fuckin armor on you right there you freakin arsehole.
Tired of getting one shot by every freakin monster. Was exploring a tower, found some spooky skeletons in basement, bam one shot dead.
Even the fucking mole rats are still lethal.

I mostly gave up on lock picking. General consensus is that it takes too long and the rewards inside are rarely ever actually worth it. On top of that, upgrading lockpicking doesn't actually make the process much easier. It just gives more chances and unlinks maybe one or two sections. It's nearly the same from beginning to end for Every. Single. Lock.

They can GTFO with that. Back to the RPG aspects I go. I like solid puzzles in my RPGs, but I don't want so much of my time being puzzles.

Okay, I may be in on PS5 Pro because I believe they've added a 60fps option now. Has anybody here tried it?

My only other concern is the crashes that wipe your save. I assume this is a console thing too? Fixed?

If the PS5 Pro can run the game at 60fps the PC version should run at 165 fps. Maybe in the next patch they will improve performance.

You now have three options on Pro: 30 fps cap, 60 fps cap, and unlocked framerate. I hope they add PSSR2 soon.

Another game with FSR encode in the game code so Adrenalin can't fish the .dll to use FSR4.

Besides that AMD user can't even turn Vsync. What a shitshow

I've leveled archery and one handed and lock picking, though I still haven't managed to pick a single lock….
Done a few stat boosts too but I still feel like I've made basically zero progress. I can kill individual monsters now, but multiple foes is still an instant death sentence in most situations.
Am I just meant to be farming ore until I can upgrade further?
Dealing with groups is a bitch even with mastery level 3, the trick is to abuse the uppercut with triangle\Y with axes and maces that knock down both wolves and scavangers and space yourself, never attack first, let them do their attack animation and them use that move, if you have space hit the enemy down another 2 times with the square\circle combo, if not, just use the uppercut while backtracking.

Learning the dodge roll in the new camp is also paramount.

You can use the bow to deal some damage before they get close or use the fire rune you got from the mage in the market area.

"Professional" reviewers are a joke

So how is the latest patch on base PS5? I red they implemented uncapped framerate options as well as a 30 and 60fps option. Is it playable in 60 fps mode?

I caved and bought it even though my time in front of the console/tv is severely limited these days.
Played the Demo this morning before work and thought what the hell, I have to dive in :messenger_sunglasses:
Looking forward to exploring the colony and experience all of it again after almost 25 years.

There's no help or guide, the reins are completely in your hands. Feels great.

The level design, atmosphere is cool up to where I've played.

But I've already died to those dino chickens a total of 10 times; the combat and animations is completely awful. I'll enjoy the game a lot If I can figure this out.

It's not awful at all. The character is clunky and slow on purpose in the beginning. You have to level up and train the character to make it better

Your combat skill and even the animations change the better your character is skilled in the different combat mechanics.

Get some one handed mastery and the dodge roll from the new camp but dont expect to ever turn into a good and super fluid action game, jank is the name of the game, just play extremely defensive and almost never attack first unless you are sure that it is a killing blow and the enemy cant hit back.

I wrote a little strategy on how to deal with the initial enemies in this very page but it is still hard to win against multiple enemies at the beginning, just save scum everytime you kill one and you are far away enough to save before fighting the others.

I still can't even leave the first camp. I kill one beast then gotta run back. I finally got to spend my LP to upgrade my melee.

I was trying to do the Fingers quest to steal the ring, I guess I picked the wrong chest and only got steel, ruby and a gold bar. Oops

How does the game hold up considering modern titles? Is it a 1 for 1 remake with outdated and basic quests / writing / gameplay a'la Oblivion remaster or is it a proper reimagining?

It sucks that a game with this level of quality is being ignored here by most people here tbh
Yeah, it's a shame but the game sold pretty good from what i've known, someone said he knows some of the devs and they are happy with the sales.

Man why do I have to like games that are destined to fail (Deus Ex, Dishonored, Prey etc)
Not being a mega-hit doesn't mean it failed. The steam numbers were decent enough at ~60k and it's the kind of game that will have steady sales for years. I wouldn't be surprised if work has already began on remaking the sequel.
