I was able to get the game to work. The issue was that despite the game crossing the arbitrary 'ready to play' installation threshold, the game wouldn't start until it was 100% complete.


In other good news, the main character also gets a different haricut after some chapters in the game.

The bad news is that it's this fucking man-bun.

Other than that, some quick impressions.

- The biggest sin of the game is that it's boring.
- It feels like A Plague Tale style but with even less of a budget
- There is a horrendous sharpening filter on the image that can't be disabled
- The game has a single 30fps mode, no Performance. The frame rate also drops to the mid teens during cut-scenes or so it feels.

Yeah, it's very plague tale-ish. That game also has 'wide linear' areas but with much better vistas and a lot less jank than this does.

I hope the art people for that game are able to find work on an actual good game next, because I still think a lot of the art looks good .

The big plot twist of the game is that your lesbian girlfriend/partner is the one who orchestrated the sacking of the town that begins the game and you have to kill her at the end.


Also, many of the enemies early on in the game mistake your character for a dude with lines like "what's this boy doing here?" etc etc.


Overall, some nice UE5 led environments marred by a poorly told story, boring game play and just about 0% variety in things you do in the first 5 minutes of the game versus the last 5.


I still had more fun playing this than Crimson Desert tho.

So it's a very half-assed story, honestly the final stuff felt like super rushed but to the best of my understanding ...

the love interest was from a poor family, while your main character is a bonafide knight and from an, assuming, better off family with a famous father. The poor love interest is about to be sold as a concubine and she secretly harbors jealousy against the hero girl because she doesn't have to do all the concubine stuff so she orchestrates the town being sacked. *How* that poor girl manages to convince brigands in the first place is never said in the game at all.

Along with the above, the game very lightly dabbles into Plague Tale style pestilence now and but that plot point doesn't go anywhere.

And the environments do look nice at times, this is an Unreal 5 game and the stock engine effects and assets are pushing all the work. The game even has rudimentary Lumen reflections in select spaces.
