So, Apparently Never Play Games By Ubisoft

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I downloaded the demo for Star Wars Outlaws and to be able to play it, I have to create a Ubisoft account.

So, for a single player game that's already bullshit but okay, I make an attempt to create one.

I go ahead and start the process and after creating a password it gives me an error and tells me it's invalid.

So I try again and get the same message.

I then try to do it through the website instead of my PlayStation 5. Same thing.

Google-fu and I can't find an answer but then I notice it says you cannot use Gmail or Yahoo or any disposable email account and have to use your IP email.

Well, my provider doesn't have one so apparently my Yahoo email of 20+ years won't be accepted.

Ubisoft please.

Well I guess that saves me any future purchases on any of their games.

Why I need to create a third party account to just play a single player demo was dumb to begin with but not accepting Gmail or Yahoo is a whole new level of stupid.

Thanks for saving me money, Ubisoft.

That's not a thing. My Ubisoft account is gmail. Also, you're on PS5, just choose to log in with your PSN account.

I am logged into my Playstation network account. It tells me I have to create a Ubisoft account to play. Which I cannot seem to do either on the console or on their website.

Having to create an additional account just to download a demo on a console should be a felony requiring corporal punishments
Well it wasn't to download it. That I was able to do. But to play the game, which again is just a demo, I get a screen saying I have to create a Ubisoft account which it won't let me. That is so ridiculous.

Sadly, or maybe luckily, i don't have any patience over this kind of bullshit anymore, so any of this type of nonsense makes me throw the game straight in the "never buy" bin.
My backlog is massive anyway.

Pretty much. Ubisoft spent millions to make their games harder to play. The mind boggles as to why this was considered a noble endeavor in the 00s.
Yeah, if they get rid of that mandatory online shit they would immediately farm easy reputation points. Even EA stopped with that nonsense (for certain games at least). 🤷‍♂️

"I go ahead and start the process and after creating a password it gives me an error and tells me it's invalid."

What kind of error? Ubisoft passwords need to have at least one uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number and special character. It should tell you that.

Nah, I'm with this guy. Fuck Ubisoft, fuck anyone who makes you make an email login to play a game (especially a demo), and fuck you too if you are simping for them.

There should 1,000,000% be an option to opt out on that bullshit.

Game makers, I'm doing YOU a favor by playing your shitty demo you fuckwits. Shouldn't you make it as accessible as possible? Retards.

Oh, it's for their rewards system? Rewards for a game that I have such little interest in that I chose to play a demo first even though the game is on sale for 80 percent off. Forget it, I'll just delete it and move on to a game that respects my time.

It usually just lets you link it to your psn. Outlaws is a decent game, it has a bit of a pacing issue on the horrible Akiva but worth a playthrough

I linked my PSN to my Ubisoft account so long ago I forgot this was actually a thing since I otherwise never log in to that Ubi account

Anywho, Outlaws doesn't have the greatest gameplay but the atmosphere is top notch and main mission design is pretty cool.

I've had the Uplay/Ubisoft Connect client installed and an account set up for years and years now so this wasn't a problem for me. Also I mostly enjoyed Star Wars Outlaws.

Sorry that happened to you, though, op :pie_pensive:

They tried to do this to me when I played PoP:TLC. I just went offline while launching the game and signed into PSN after and it skipped any account bullshit.

Friends don't let friends play Ubisoft games.

Don't do it OP. You've got so much to live for and so many other great games to play, it's not worth it!

The last time I was asked to do that was for Dead Space 3 on PS3 by EA. I did it because I promised to play the game with a friend and it was the first and last time. I haven't bought an EA game since. Having to make an account to play a game is bullshit, full stop. I hope you are able to get a refund.

Edit: Just saw it was a demo so no refund required. That's good. I remembered, though, that I ran into the same thing with a demo for Unravel (EA again). I just didn't play it rather than make an account.

You could do better than Star Wars Outlaws, and most of Ubisoft's good games you can get retail copies of them on the cheap now.

Well - it also saves us money.
T2 literally 100% ensured for me to never touch their sports games again because apparently I can't even launch a demo (let alone their games on PSPlus) without creating yet another account.
Which no - I'm not doing - I mean, I would entertain it if they automatically connected whatever IDs they have to my PSN - but I'm not going to go through the agony of entering emails and creating passwords and setting up 2FA flow with a god damn controller. Even if I wanted to give them my data - that's about 10 bridges too far.

And yes - I blame T2 for ruining tennis games AND killing TopSpin IP all in one fell swoop here. Good game Bobby Kottick. Yes I know Bobby has never had anything to do with it T2 - but he deserves the blame. Alongside Konami, because well... F Konami.
