YouTube ads will become unskippable

I can see why a lot of people are frustrated by this. A few years ago, unskippable ads were usually short and relatively rare, but lately it feels like platforms are testing how much advertising viewers will tolerate.

From YouTube's perspective, I understand the goal is to increase revenue for creators and the platform itself. The challenge is finding a balance between monetization and user experience. If viewers are forced to sit through too many ads, some may watch less content or look for alternative ways to avoid ads altogether.

Personally, I don't mind a short unskippable ad before a video I really want to watch, but when you're jumping between multiple short videos, those ads can become more annoying than the content is worth. That's where the experience starts to suffer.

It will be interesting to see whether this change leads more people to subscribe to YouTube Premium or if YouTube eventually adjusts the policy based on user feedback. Either way, I think viewer tolerance has limits, and platforms need to be careful not to push too far.

I also use YT music which is nice.
I did that on my old A41, the app kept locking up, no idea why

Always great when you're 70 MPH down a motorway..

Piece of shite app.

For real! YouTube ads are getting ridiculous. Every time I try to watch a 30 second clip I'm forced to sit through a damn sales pitch for something I don't want. Speaking of avoiding ads, NeoGAF Gold lets you browse NeoGAF ad-free while supporting one of the few remaining independent gaming forums. It's honestly one of the better subscriptions I pay for. For more information Click Here. Anyway, YouTube really needs to stop shoving advertisements in my face. Fuck Ads!

It's not a youtube problem, it's a YOU problem.

That specific "Experiencing interruptions" message accompanied by a slight delay is YouTube's built-in way of penalizing ad blockers. When your ad blocker or privacy extension tries to block a YouTube ad, YouTube intentionally causes the video to lag, buffer, or displays that warning.

Run along fool and keep bowing to corporate crap, did i ask for your irrelevant opinion, another low post user from years ago just posting bullshit.

I need something for Windows. I have Ublock Origin but now while I don't have ads, the video stay black for a few seconds (5 to 10s) before finally loading in. It's tiresome.

Brave, Vivaldi, etc plenty of browsers these days provide work arounds, if you're staying on Chrome then that's on you.

Not Chrome, Edge which I've been using for years and I think is great. I'd move to another browser if I have to but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

If anyone's on Android, man, Morphe is SO much better than Revanced that's not even funny...
Better UI, way easier patching, no APK mirrors that are broken (not being able to disable the giant, full page ad).

Can you send me a reliable link? I don't want to blind and download something wrong

Ok, it was very easy, when I did the same with revanced it has been a pain to find the real one instead of the fake ones.

As far as I can tell it is better than revanced ;)

One of the reasons I jumped ship is because the last few updates of Revanced manager would open the apk's site link inside the app (not externally) leading to a broken site where you couldn't press on "x" as to close the GIGANTIC, fullscreen ad to be able to DL YT's latest apk, shit drove me mad so I had to find an alternative...

I don't get any ads, right now, but I get a 3 second delay before each video. It suffices versus the long form ads they have going on, now.

I have been reading up on it and YouTube is pretty much tied to making people feel crappy.

It is fast food content.

It doesn't appear to be this thread, but this one is alive-ish, so I just want to chime in to the people who said "you'll get used to the new embedded player". You were wrong. Still an ugly piece of shit. And still lacking one rather nice feature of the old one, where if you clicked YouTube it would take you to a new tab with the actual YouTube video at your current timestamp and pause the embedded one. The YouTube button still works, but doesn't automatically pause.

More on topic, ever since Edge got retarded with respect to uBlock, and also started deleting all my settings on update, I've been on Brave. Which is a bit crusty at times but gets the job done. Sometimes I get buffering but I'm not sure I can blame it on ad punishment. Generally it works okay, and if it takes a 20 minute video an extra 3 seconds to start it's not really a big deal. Mostly I think the behavior is pretty normal though, the videos that take a while to load are generally have low views, I'm sure popular stuff gets cached in memory and/or faster storage, so it all seems reasonable.
