GTA VI physical edition won't include discs

Is the leak reason really a big an issue or a big threat to rockstar? There are so many ways to protect games from leaks.

Only content! But not gameplay. But i think the game leaked early from other country selling it early.
I think physical copy leaks were around 5 days early, the digital download leak, which was torn apart and leaked stuff like weapons, cutscenes, all the songs in the game, etc, was nearly two weeks ahead!

Still can't believe Rockstar is killing physical media.

Maybe, maybe not.

This rumor was a while ago and actually states they will release it on disk later and the this is merely for launch to combat leaks.

^ this too, apparently the leaker leaked MS Flight Sim coming to PS5.

So they got the digital launch correct. Did anyone from Rockstar confirm if this was to combat leaks or did we just assume?

If that's true, I can wait.

I see. Still about the $80 pricetag though.

I think you should, cause this rumor already got several things true, which means this might more so be a Obilivion remake digital at launch and physical later situation.

True, I feel that is a big deal, but not as big as the no disk thing. I was already getting the special edition, but no disk makes me question the point if I don't get a cool box set type thing. I would even be ok with them simply just having it launch digital only and at the very least SHOW US the disk version and give us a date.

I'd be willing to wait for a while month to have that version IF LEAKS where all they were really worried about tbh.

So, who knows.

Is it because of pre orders stuff or forever?? Because I believe they will somehow provide physical copy but whatever they give a download code or pure disk is another problem. But why US government or European country still cannot force a law for game publisher to provide a real physical copy of games?

I can wait because the game doesn't even include online mode.

And I want to see what they plan to do with it.

My friend told me he read something about them releasing a physical version with discs once the game has been released. Something about R* saying in a press release that there won't be any disc based version "at launch", which implies there will be one at some point after the launch. Like I said in the other thread I wouldn't be surprised if R* gets people to double dip on the same platform.
If people are dumb enough to buy this game twice to get a plastic disc that probably still needs to download a big portion of the game, then more power to Rockstar.

Its quite obvious for a long time now that discs are going away. They aren't using them for any other media anymore. I don't understand why people think video games are going to be the only ones left doing it. It's going to be almost completely dead next gen when disc drives are optional.

Disc or no disc, all you pro-"all-digital future" comrades are still chumps:

I just noticed it says that the free month of GTA+ PSN is offering renews automatically, how kind of them, I wonder how many people will end up paying for extra months they didn't want.

*Re-edited with a fixed pic, thank you mods.

This reminds me that people wanted GTA 6 to release day 1 on pc citing denuvo as having killed piracy. Well Hypervisor is here, and a day 1 port meant day 1 piracy which isn't possible for the biggest game anymore so Rockstar being correct because they showed restraint.

Rockstar at least you could have made a nice fake cardboard replica CD with the activiation code on it.

From games like Ultima with full cloth map, manuals, spell books and trinkets to this shit.

I got GTA V for free thanks Tim Sweeny.
Seriously buck up your principles boys, dont buy if they violates yours.

I mean, its not like GTA VI will not be nothing but safe rehashed mechanics. By November, we should have crimson desserts on sales, get that for your open world fix

The sooner physical dies off the better.
GTA not giving a disc is a huge win imo.
The nerds will cry but the world must move on to that all digital future.

Why?

Game could require day one patch to function like Crimson Desert. That would make it a bit worse but still infinitely better than fucking code in the box.

If true, I'll definately wait. It's not like there's a lack of games

I guess that is fair to think like that, even as the insider. The thing is: will they really do this? Because when something radical changes from them and people still keeps consuming, why bother!?

I remember when Nintendo announced the KeyCards as a solution for the thirds who didn't want to release physical anymore, and people got mad as was Nintendo's fault, which wasn't. The primary argument was the pricy cartridge, which is true in comparison with disc... Take 2 is not buying the disc now, and for sure is only caring for shipping a few physical boxes to kinda relate to the consumer, but they don't care

For those that thinks there's good and bad timelines, the publishers are turning this into the darkest one
