Starfox |OT| Copilot.....Do a Barrel roll!

Just finished the hard route, died more times that I'd like to admit to Star Wolf. After that I loaded up challenge mode and did everything on Corneria on Normal. It looks like you can't unlock medals in challenge mode, not a problem though, I can do it in the campaign.

This game is such a masterpiece, I love it. Congrats, Velan. Do Kid Icarus: Uprising next (or make a new Star Fox 2 that outdoes this one)!

My aiming is all over the place.
I could barely hit the last bosses hands.

Maybe a little part of my soul is missing but this game does nothing for me and i loved the crap out of starfox, specially 64 which i imported with the rumble pack 2 months before NA release. The visuals are neat and the gameplay looks spot on but it doesn't excite or even mildly intrigue me like i thought it would. Maybe i don't like on-rails shooters afterall or maybe i like the first Starfox a lot more than i liked 64, the OST is certainly superior though i do like this remake's re-orchestrated music more than 64's.
Its missing a ton of charm. The atmosphere is also way worse thanks to weaker lightning and worse sfx. Poor dialogue readings. Then there is no feedback from enemies you hit alot of the time and even when you get hit its hard to tell due to a lack of inpact or feedback. Also the lighting makes alot of enemy visabilty quite poor. Its not a great remake tbh.

Even the things like the weak title screen and intro cinematic being less dramatic than a star wars intro crawl bother me. I think the aiming is less direct and requires more leading than it used to as well (probably the way they did the homing tracker).

I finished one playthrough and had intended to do everything but ill be honest im probably just gonna return it...

The only things I like are the idea of the cutscenes in between missions and the little info logs you can collect on various things in the world. You cant even zoom in on the map like you used to..

Man the visuals in this game is really good, super impressed with it.

The gameplay is smooth and fun so far.

Dang. Maybe try multiplayer? It's a different beast than the main game that's for sure.

Do you need aim assist?

Yeah, mp was quite solid, good even. Corneria was a blast; it elicited feelings of old school team death match and the map has a nice arrangement of terrain for pretty good dog fights and setting up defensive ambushes holding positions. It was the best of the lot. Sector Y was fun too but not as polished as Corneria, felt almost like a slower Quake 3 CTF4 but with more flags. They kinda missed me with Fachina, don't want to play that one at all.

Finished one run and…yeah, this is a miss for me so far. Easy and dull, was waiting for it to finish. Minor nostalgia for some of the classic lines and scenarios but it feels like less than the sum of its parts. I'll do the other route but probably don't have it in me to collect the medals to unlock hard mode. Unfortunate.

I just unlocked hard mode and it didn't take much time. I did it in like 2 1/2 runs.

Hard mode is WAY more fun. There are more enemies, harder bullet patterns, and some item drops get nerfed. It makes the game a proper challenge.

I love this game so far. What it loses in 90s charm, it makes up for with crisp gameplay and excellent visuals. Plus, the orchestrated soundtrack is fantastic.

I love playing it with the N64 switch controller, too. So nostalgic and fun.

Besides from the nice visuals this is still a (simple) N64 game in its core. And the gameplay shows.

This game honestly feels like it for you only if your a new fan or someone who played SF64 some 20 years ago and hadnt touched it since so they dont remember much. This game is a Demons Souls remake level of atrocity and then some due to the negative effects on the gameplay. Such a shame.
